Installed it. No problem. Tried it. Liked it. Definetly better than kde 2.2 but still for my needs blackbox does it (I still use console email and console filemanager;-). So recommended for newbies not for people who know Linux. But then again some like to point and click instead of typing...
Does anyone happen to know if they use the standard VM (probably not), Rick van riel's or Andrea Arcechelli's VM? I couldn't find it anywhere. Also it would be great to know which other patches they use. The only thing that I could did up was jfs and xfs support.
I've been waiting for this for quite a while and now it finally looks like it's here. Yes! Read the changelog it's not truetype font support but anti-aliased fonts.
Which (arch or subversion) manages conflicts best? And how do they differ from cvs? Looks like subversion uses a different version control of per commit not per file.
Anyone could shed some light on this?

good point:)
Neural networks will be great for speciel applications, but I think it will be a long time before, it can do as many things as humans.
First: I really like the idea of open source and think thats it a big step towards better software.
Second: Big distributions like Red Hat, Suse and others have really great people working there. That is why I buy both Red Hat and Suse, not because I run them, but because they make GPL licensed software. Which means in the end that I can run them on my debian system.
Third: I know that my money put in distributions is well spent because the software is open source. Opposed to buying propietary software, where it feels like they are only after the money. They can also charge unreasanable high prices because they _own_ the right for the software.
Well it's not easy to explain in short because there is a lot of computer science in it. But let me just try to explain it simple. O is the notation of big O, it comes from time complexity. O(1) means that the time used code is constant, no matter how large the problem is, it will take a given time. But I havn't said anything about how large that time is (the constant). Anyway, benchmarks has shown that the new scheduler is much better if you have multiple processorers, but doesn't really give that much if you run a single processor. So what it adds up to is that the new scheduler is much better or smp.
This is a very nice release. As you can see from the changelog
the new ide drivers are finally in 2.5.x. Lets hope this will give Marcelo one more reason to include them in 2.4.x.
The O(1) Scheduler from Ingo is also in here (version J9) at the moment.
All of these patches are also available for 2.4.x! Im running aa WM, scheduler O(1) and the new ide patches right now and have been for more than a wekk without any problems whatsoever. Also for those of you that want to try riks VM there's also a patch for that.
Anyway those patches are only for those of you adventoures like me:-). But it has been said that Rik's VM brings the VM back to the -ac13 state.
I think it's very positive that a major title like neverwinter nights get released on linux. If only more games would follow this trend linux might have a change on the desktop.
But I agree Linux needs some kind of standard, a way so it's easy to install games. A way so every newbie can buy the game from his local discount and installing it without to much hasstle. What linux needs is a common installer and a common game standard, like m$ has direct X
Gdkxft is a very dirty hack. I really hope this new patch is going to be included in mozilla since this a point where it's lagging behind konqueror.
Right now I use truetype fonts from m$ and they work just fine. Would be nice to try the new patch though:)
How about creating two accounts? I know it doesn't solve the problem perfekt, but it works with all IM today :)

Mutt - All mail clients suck. This one just sucks less
Please note that you cannot buy a Dell machine with an AMD processor inside (TM). Funny isn't it?

It's counterstrike server _NOT_ the client ;)
Reminds me of the good old movie Wargames. Man I love that movie :)

Divx5 works in latest ffmpeg and the latest cvs of mplayer also supports divx5 through the divx5 codec found on the avifile site.
O(1) is also in there :)
2.5.4 also includes the new ide drivers which which run very smoothly for me (it is also in -ac).
I was thinking about building a mosix cluster, just to see how it works :)
Anyone have some good links for a howto? Or anyone want to share their experience?
This release includes the Robert Love preemtive kernel! Thought Linus didn't like it. Well anyways it's in there. And it's an options so... :-)

1000 deadugly apples lined up. Then I'd rather go for the slower pentium based ones.
Take a look again. kernel 2.4.16 kde 2.2.1 gnome (can't remember probably 1.4). xfree 4.1

No, right now 2.4.x is using aa VM. Aa has actually mentioned that he talk the marcelo about syncing the main kernel with his aa series.

How well is apm or acpi supported in freebsd?
:-)
I know this is probably a dumb question, since freebsd is used mostly for server. But I know that some of you bsd trolls out there is running it.
I really do not hope science as a whole will share the same faith as a lot of software development has. Support free software before it's too late.
