    Its possible that someday the new slashdot might very well be quite workable...but it seems like the beta is still an alpha.

    The internment of Japanese-Americans was immoral and unnecessary, the use of census information in wartime to track enemy aliens was less problematic than the internment of Japanese-Americans who were American citizens. The law allowing the use of the census data was passed in 1942 and repealed in 1947.

    However, Sherman had every legal right to get census data on farmland (not persons) in any even he used information from state of georgia quoting sherman

    Its overpriced. Nintendos market is for those who want a cheap and cheerful video game system for the kids
    not the people who want to pay $60 a game. If they had released something like an updated wii with a regular controller
    for $100 less it would have sold like crazy. Basically their target market wanted an updated WII not the montrosity that
    was the wii U.

    Keystone XL is a pipeline to haul CANADIAN oil that ran through American enviromentally sensitive areas and over ogalla aquifer which supplies water
    to 27% of the irrigated land in the US.

    Now if you want to make an argument for a pipeline to haul American oil that doesnt involve danger to aquifers
      and enviromentally sensitive lands im all ears.

    Instead of posting based on summaries...

    The people targeted by the NSA were not innocent political activists they were hardcore radicals they were jihad and Al Queda supporters.

    This wasnt necessarily effective at directly stopping them from doing terrorism but I see nothing wrong with using that information to discredit them with their followers or blackmailing them for intelligence purposes or become informants.

    The constitution does not protect non-citizens outside the US who advocate violent acts against Americans and nice people(non-muslims and non radical muslims) from being embarassed or blackmailed or whatever other non-lethal dirty tricks we wish to do.

    I have a snapshot and I also got one for my mom. I have a 26% discount my moms discount is about 11% because she drives a lot more.

    It doesnt beep when you "slow down quickly" it beeps when you slam on the brakes. It will not beep when stopped at a red light.

    It will beep when she slams on the brakes to avoid someone cutting her off. No its not her fault but yes she was driving in a riskier area. People
    who drive in heavy traffic will have more stop and start driving.

    Ironically amazon supports thousands of local bookstores selling used and new books through amazon. If you want to figure out whos back this bill
    dont look for mom and pop bookstores look for Carrefour and other french retailing giants. Amazons ecosystem is far more local business friendly than walmart or carrefour.

    The mom and pop stores in the USA were killed 30 years ago by National and regional chain stores. Walmarts main competition is target, but also publix,amazon, dollar general,etc,etc. When you compete at all levels you have to compete with everyone including constant new arrivals like Aldi, Winco, etc.

    The right to enforce copyright should lie with the copyright holder not the state. Not all copyright holders choose to exercise their rights or have constructively abandoned their rights (aka Abandonware), something the law has not been updated to reflect.
