I realize that Germany isn't America, and doesn't have their government setup the same way, but I thought most modern forms of government had the concept of seperation of powers, that some sort of legislative body makes the laws and the judicial system rules on disputes over those laws.
I'm surprised that people aren't more upset by the fact that you had here a court creating law. While on the face of it I think the ruling is bogus, I'd be a little bit more upset that judiciary just created a new tax, something that is clearly the job of a legislative body. They've basically usurped the process by which a law is passed, and all the checks and balances built into the system.
Those "ads" (only in the free version) constitutes a single banner matched to fit in the otherwise vacant space in the right side of the toolbar at the top of the browser. An ad for UserFriendly.org isn't (at least I think UF still has ads with Opera) isn't worthy of your desktop, but white pixels are?
I paid for the full version not because the ads were annoying (I never noticed them), but because I wanted to support what I thought was a great browser. Opera ads are about the least intrusive ads I have ever seen.
While they can be roughly broken down between old-earth creationists and young-earth creationists, the talk.origins FAQ contains a more verbose breakdown of the community.
Will the saving of shipping/sorting costs really be made up? They'll have to spend a lot of money on a network infrastructure to accomodate the load. Severs/pipes for pushing out movies to the NetFlix/Tivo subscriber base can't be that cheap.
If it's anything like Stand Alone Complex, it's using CG to make better animation that looks hand-drawn. CG in the US has a distinct look, totally different from hand drawn animation. In SAC, CG was used to create very smooth motion that would normally take a lot of frames, along with all the color changes that occur when an object moves around.
The only other place I've seen this used is in Futurama, which seemed to have the same idea.
But rather against merchants that overclock and then sell machines as the next-highest processor. I remember back when Intel first started doing this the company said it wasn't targeting the actions of the end user but rather shady mercahnts.
Have you seen recent fansubs? I started collecting the fansubs of Ghost in the Shell - SAC after trying to follow the absymal DVD subs. I just watched an episode where they color-coded the personal pronouns to elaborate the fact that a character had multiple personalities and specify which pronoun refered to which personality.
While I don't know Japanese, that doesn't strike me as low quality. The community has moved way beyond bootleg VHS tapes. I'd rather have a fansub than an offical sub.
I remember reading an article pondering the next New York governors race. It was decided that Spitzer would be the best Democratic candidate, as his poll numbers were around 60% . . . among Republicans.
I'm a conservative Republican, and I voted for him last time around.
But let's face it, this contest isn't about finding cheaper ways to haul cargo or reach remote locations.
Sure it is. Logistics are a *huge* problem for the military, especially one that moves as fast as America's. Remember in Gulf War II that some of the most public incidents of American losses involved supply convoys, not front-line forces.
With this sort of technology, supply-lines become more like conveyor belts than masses of convoys. They elminate the need to teams of humans to transport fuel, water, ammunition, etc. to the front lines. This increases the pool of human resources available to the military for other jobs, while eliminating the worry of casualities inflicted by enemy interdiction missions.
Sure, automatic tanks will logically be a followup, but I think the military's mid-term goal is automating the logistics.
Ask the people in China and Saudi Arabia what happened. It's not a matter of freedom of expression online, it's a matter of freedom of expression in various nations. The Internet is only as free as where you live.
Just hang out on a clan server. Most clans are nice if you are friendly and mature, even if you are a newb. And by striking up a friendship with a clan, even one you aren't going to join, you can learn and quickly climb up the curve. Don't push it, just consistently hang out on their server and be honest (but not annoying) about being a newb.
You are probably just going to accept that you're going to suck for a month while you learn the maps and tactics.
What is the difference between Computer Engineering and Computer Science? I had always thought they were different names for the same subject. Does Engineering deal mostly with the hardware aspect?
Which explains why until last semester we were still running Solaris 2.7. Finally got it updated to 2.9.
I guess there are advantages to running a relatively obscure OS.
I have an SX4000, and my main problem with it is that they don't keep up on Linux support. They only recently released Redhat 8/9 drivers. For the longest time I've been forced to use Redhat 7.3 in order to use the hardware RAID capabilities. Granted, they did actually release the drivers, but back in January (when I got the card), Redhat 8 had been out for some time. When Redhat comes out with a 2.6 kernel version, I'm willing to bet you'll be waiting a year before you can upgrade. But on the upswing, hey, it does work.
In addition, I really wish they would offer wider support for their chipset in regards to Linux, as you're locked into using specific versions of Redhat as it stands now. I would really like to get Slack on this machine.

Ok, while it's just a game and probably not trying to be realistic . ..
I didn't realize that it's offensive to say these nations are our military competitors. Are you going to say all those warplane simulators are offensive? And it's not like they've been confined to just American craft, they've simulated Soviet aircraft too.
You're saying I shouldn't buy "SU-27 Flanker 2.0" because it's offensive to Americans. Yeah. Whatever.

Because riots during a convention resulted in a huge boon for the Democrats back in '68.

Anyone else notice that whenever a popular site links to a Yahoo News story, Yahoo News hits the floor for several hours?

Is this related to the Cygwin/XFree86 blowup a few months back?
And don't waste our time with your anti-American sterotypes.

Poor RMS. Can't even get put down by the man without Linux stealing his thunder.
Who cares about Mac? When are they going to update the SOLARIS version?
