Make sure the people are too busy watching pron and there wont be a problem.

Dont make people's life drab, make them colorful and they wont worry about lack of political freedoms.

Hong Kong and Singapore are both excellent examples.

I will bet even money that if US became a military dictatorship tomorrow , there will be about 3 protesters . The rest will be watching cable TV, and wondering which SUV to buy next.

but weren't Newton's ideas debunked by Einstein's theory of relativity? Shouldn't we be focusing on the physicists who got it right, not the ones who were wrong.

In that sense , even Einstein didnt get it completely correct. His special and then the general theories didnt answer all the quantum phenomena. He spent most of his working life trying to find a grand unified theory , infact it was his holy grail.

Remember , Einstein's Nobel prize (in physics) was for his work on the photoelectric effect , because his work on relativity was a bit "unique" and "bold" for that time.

Does any body in the US realise that China will be the world's leading energy consumer in a very short period.

That the Chinese economy isnt so efficient that they will implement green policies in their industries.

That the only thing between Chinese pollution and the US is the Pacific ocean.

US should have signed the Kyoto treaty so that it could , along with Europe , force China to keep its pollution under check.

At the moment China has a carte blanche to pollute as it wishes.

US has been very short sighted on Kyoto and this will come to haunt the next generation.

Encryption technology (only comprimised due to physical reasons, i.e. someone stole one)

Sorry ,but your last statement is utter Bullshit.Either you dont know about encryption or are trolling. The inventor of Enigma assumed that a working Enigma would be available to the enemy and therefore, attempted to build the security around the Algorithm.

In fact ,when the machine's blueprints reached the french they considered the enigma to be unbreakable and thats why they passed the details to the Polish.A young Mathematician named Marion Rewjyski(sp?) set to work on cracking enigma. For details read the book by Simon Singh.

It was the poles who first broke the enigma and Bletchley park, which came in later, decoded the intercepts

The Enigma was the most advanced encryption system at its time in the world but to say it was broken only because a machine was captured is utter fallacy.

P.S I didnt mean to be rude but most /. ers have read enough articles on Encryption to know that the security of a cipher is in its algorithm and nowhere else.
