I realize that you wouldn't expect to see it every time, but if every student is writing a program that should do exactly the same thing, it has to be pretty likely that 2 or more of them will come up with very similar structure. How can you really tell that it's cheating? Especially if the professors are anything like mine where they tell you exactly how many variables, functions, arguments, etc you're supposed to have. The more specific the assignment, the more likely that students will independently write very similar code.
How many different ways can you write a C++ program that takes an integer between 0 and 255 and outputs it as 8 bits of binary, writing 3 functions: pow(int x, int y), validate(int x), and convert(int x)?
Just thought I'd not that for those that didn't feel like digging through it.
I never used the auction rule at first because I didn't know about it. Once I found it in the rules, I have always used it when I remembered to.
It's not iD Software it's id Software and it has always been pronounced just like the word it comes from:
id -noun Psychoanalysis
the part of the psyche, residing in the unconscious, that is the source of instinctive impulses that seek satisfaction in accordance with the pleasure principle and are modified by the ego and the superego before they are given overt expression.
The point is that I'm learning something I'm interested in. I've always had an interest in business and finances as well as computers, but I've never taught myself any of the business stuff, so I am actually learning in the classes.
If they would just let me skip ahead in the computer classes, I'd be learning in them and be awake.
When I asked the C++ teacher how far they go in the class, and he said "arrays," I had to struggle to keep from laughing out loud.
Also, you'll need to have interesting work for your developers to do.
I don't consider myself a spectacular, let alone superstar, programmer, but I think that lack of interesting work is one of the main things that can make someone unhappy with their job.
This doesn't just apply to work. I just recently changed my major from computer science to accounting to keep school from being so boring. I'm actually learning and making good grades again.
So, his example should be more like this:
1) You are sued in some obscure Hong Kong court.
2) You show up and say "Let's move this to a higher Hong Kong court."
3) They move the case.
4) You realize they still don't have jurisdiction because you have no presence in Hong Kong at all. You just have a web page that some people check and make decisions based on. You stop showing up.
Maybe they should have started with the "ignore the court" plan from the beginning, but it's still a ridiculous case that should have been thrown out from the beginning.
Not to mention that if the equivalent of 50 employees doing nothing for a year is worth $2 billion, those 50 employees are worth an average $40 million a year.
I think you miss the reasoning behind solo content. Once player levels are spread out, do you really think you're going to find a full group within 10 minutes at 4:00am?
Having enough solo content means players can log in and play immediately. If I have 30 minutes to kill and decide to play, I don't want to spend 10 of them, let alone more, looking for a group. Without any solo content, I couldn't actually play for just 30 minutes.
I doubt anyone wants a MMOG that 100% of its content can be experienced playing solo. However, having enough solo content means anyone can play, for any amount of time, at anytime of the day.

It's a pretty obvious way to get around it, so I'm not surprised that it has been done.
I think you are wrong, and you represent another type which cannot make up their mind about which to use, and often forget which they started with.

WoW doesn't have a Linux client. The only way to play WoW in Linux is to run it through either Wine or Cedega.
You can run other games through them as well.

Machinima is 3D animation in which the characters are/were controlled by humans during recording.
If the "News Anchor" is completely automated, this is not considered Machinima.

I think you're confusing shareware with freeware.
Shareware means there is a demo version that you're encouraged to share, but there is also a full version that you have to pay for.
Freeware is just that: free (as in beer).

Stop spreading fud about tubes. Obviously IPv6 is faster because of bigger trucks.
Look you got modded funny. They think you're acute.
Be sure to check Google's cached copy, too!

Same with AVG. Says it found the file, I click Delete, and calc opens anyway.
PlanetSide anyone?
My girlfriend's mother bought us a 2.4ghz wireless phone. :( How am I supposed to play WoW on the john now?!?!
In other news, math skills of Scottish police reported to be at an all time low.
