Its been stable for years. It just didnt have the 1.0 version mark for people to notice it.

its a complete OS, that is modeled on MSDOS. It fits well into the embedded market. It also works well for old legacy applications where you really cant upgrade the custom hardware or the software ( like in machine controlers ).
The fact it works as a desktop ( with some additional software ) even on the oldest of 'pc' hardware is just a great side effect.
While it is their right to deny anyone for any reason, this stuff is stupid and only drives away business. Same goes for Ebay with the stuff they 'ban' from auction.
Dont forget, if you are accused of ANY crime, your records stay forever ( even if they take DNA, like some states do ). Even if you are proven not guilty, or the case is eventually dropped you are still marked for life.
Not saying the Preregistration is good, just that im not suprised.
"make everyone a criminal, even its imagined, and its eaiser to control the populace out of fear"
I only state the facts, they make more $ for people then anything else in the software world at this point, so there is nothing wrong with specializing in it.. That was my point.
If one chooses to do other things that is fine too, just realize its for a smaller, uncertain market.
I cant tell you how many times ive sent mockup database form screenshots to people: "why cant i type" or another common oe "the buttons dont work, its broke" *sigh*
Im sure you have friends on the outside, if co-workers dont want to be friends and accept you for who you are ( regardless of what that means ) its of no great loss.
Well, if you want to focus to writing for the largest installed software base, with the largest company on the planet.. Lots of money to be made there, dont see much of a long term drawback for the average coder.
Looks like 400 to me.. Ya, so im a sucker, but i was curious. Ill never own a tivo so its not like they are going to gain a customer out of this 'news scam' anyway.
Software isnt 'complete' until its retired i guess. Until then, its hit with patches, bug fixes, etc.. so 'production' really isnt 'complete', its just not in beta anymore.
The model helps them maintain quality. they dont have to deal with every piece of garbage PC out there, making them look bad when it locks up every 10 minutes.
Aside from how stupid this idea is, who is to decide what qualifes as violent? Consenting adults should have the right to view other consenting adults. Anythign less is legislating 'morals' and morals are relative. Its as bad as the 'hate crime' garbage.
Piss off enough people with stupid stuff this and you get revolution.
But your history is stored forever, making sure that evenutally you will become a criminal and have the man come visit you.
Great precident we have here. Grrr
But that doesnt mean hes wrong.
Sometimes the paranoids are right. Dont discount them so quickly.
As far as im concerned, licenses are irrelevant anyway and i can do what ever i please.

It was sarcasm.. That we all should have seen this coming due to their past record.
"and its venom.... oh shit.."
Shame to see him gone, he was an entertaining and educational guy.. Even if at times he did go a bit far in taking chances.

Will the user be notifed in big red letters.. or will this just be hidden down in the fine print like everything else?
What is next, capturing video? Or scanning file contents?
Just like redhat didnt toast SLS? Yes, it can happen.
Whatever that means, i really doubt it.

Just do a good job and not worry about it?

Once you grow up, you will understand. Money IS all that matters.
Overseeing a committee, is most likley the best way to run things ( even countries ). As long as the guy at the top isnt into a power trip.
Not say it it will be, but lets suppose it becomes THE most popular out there by such a margin it leaves everyone else in the dust, including debian..
Since its based on debian, what happens then?

Professional, is a relative term.

Nor would i sign one that gives them rights to things i do after hours or after employment ends.
While on the job, its their stuff, they paid for it. However, while on my time, its my stuff.

Each president has done good and bad, created their own troubles, passed them along to the next guy, and inhereted some as well.
Its how the system works. Its larger then one single person/administration.
