That was my point.. Which you pretty much agreed with...
I dont have simpler *needs* then most people, however i dont have to have it *now*. A little patience is not a bad thing.. So it takes something a few extra moments to compile..
Its marketing that says 'gotta have it faster, bigger, etc'. Not reality..
Its funny all this talk about 'the future'.. My old 700 PIII is still plugging along, doing the job it needs to do. And I'm sure it will continue to do so in another 2 years...
Just because you CAN bloat out, doesnt mean you should..
The last time that was tried it led to the American revolution.
I doubt anything less then a total revolution by the people will get the job done, and the 'industries' have a LOT of money, and have bought a LOT of laws to fight any 'rebellion'.
I wont get into the debate over analog/digital ( though i do side on the analog side.. ), but its really sad when we start losing sight of our past due to the advance of technology.
We are doomed to repeat the errors of the past.. Only in a more grand fashion....
The original post was an example of the government cracking down on dissidents who express themselves, an issue of 'free speech', which was on topic. ( the rambling that happened afterwards is what was beginning to stray OT ).
I used the 2nd amendment as a 'suppressed subject'. It wasnt meant to be a discussion about the merits for or against it. Though, from your narrowminded remark i can pretty much tell where you stand, which discredits anything further you have to say, about any subject.
Bite me. The original post was just an example of the government cracking down on dissidents, which becomes a issue of 'free speech', which was on topic. ( the rambling that happened afterwards is what was beginning to stray OT )
Poor grammar and spelling? Sure, I'm guilty of that. Paying attention to either, and correcting any typos, is not worth my time or trouble in a forum such as this. You want more careful posts? Pay me for it. Otherwise, you may shut your face.
If you want to know what is REALLY disburbing, is that people like you are allowed to continue to exist. You should have been eradicated along with the rest of your kind long ag
The intent of my wording was exactally what the constitution would have been designed to protect:
"American citizens, protesting the destruction of the 2nd amendment by the government"
As a side note, the excerpt '..or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press..' clearly states we do have the right of free speech as an individual.. The directive that congress is not supposed to abridge it, means we do have it..
The key to a lot of the constition is paying attention 'or', not 'and'.. Rights, in general, are not mutually exclusive, nor modified..
Like ' Americans for the 2nd amendment '.. or ' people who dislike yahoo's service terms'...
Somehow I think this is yet another case of 'but its for the children' nonsence.
Yes, i realize its a commercial company and we have no real free speech rights there. But its still somewhat concerning how people toss the concept aside. It *should* be universal.
When was it ever free? Its always costed to be online. ( even in the darpa days.. it was being paid for by tax dollars )
What they mean is then end of content that doesnt require additional cost.
Thats fine with me. Besides, forcing me to watch an ad makes the content 'not free'. My time is worth something. Time they are wasting.
Simple. From being in the business for 30 + years.
KO is smaller, faster and lighter weight then OO.
For 90% of the users out there, its features are more then enough..
Why should they support a competing 'product'?
Since its not much different underneath, perhaps they will now support FreeBSD as well..
While stock wine is ok, CW's stuff improves things greatly...
Yes, but the whole point of the 'j' project was to get rid of the X11 dependencies and be a true OSX application...
For OO 2.0 to arrive...
Great work tho.. have to give them a lot of credit..
The industries will spin it to 'prove' their point to get more laws passed. Reality has nothing to do with their crusade.
want =! need
...

The problem is when most ( or all ) of your industry is service based, as a nation.
A nation that cant produce 'hard goods' is at the mercy of everyone else who can.
You cant thrive on a 'service based economy' for long. It doesnt have a 'foundation'.
Apparently that is the future economy of this country. We dont make anything any longer, so all that is left is 'services'.
Grrrr if i do that one more time... Grrrr
Sorry folks.

While it wont 'kill' anything, this whole thing may end up effectively pushing all the free unix variants back into the server room.
No linux distribution ( or other unix-like OS's ) would be able win a marketing battle with apple over the 'average joe'.
That is unless some heavyweight like IBM starts marketing their own flavor to the unwashed non techincal masses.

( but i know, we are getting somewhat OT here.. )
I thought IBM sold off their PC and laptop business??
Like ' Americans for the 2nd amendment '.. or ' people who dislike yahoo's service terms' ...
Somehow I think this is yet another case of 'but its for the children' nonsence.

What would be cool is if you could run Xclients ( or i suppose cli stuff too ) on the ipod and use a 'local' pc to X11/Telnet to it..
Take all your apps AND data with you as you travel...
Yes, i know a laptop would do the same, but no where near the same formfactor...
Last time i looked 4G support was still 'coming soon', perhaps 'soon' has arrived?
Nope, cant look myself as it wont load.
Want the government to hold their hand in the bathroom 'for their safety'.
Its really sad what 'we' have become.
I wasnt trying to make a joke, in this case.
I know its terrible.. Our rights are being trampled on like Smokey The Bear in a forest fire stamping out embers..
And 'the masses' are so blind they support it..
