Not if you are a Linux/Apple owner with a G4! Why would they have G3 optimizations rather than G4 optimizations?
Because there is already a (better IMHO) nix that runs optimized on the G4. Linux on G3s is great....If you have a G4, use OS X. You will not be disapointed.

I absolutely agree with you. I get a lot of crap from people when I say that kind of stuff. Fact is, the GUI of X Windows with whatever window manager doesn't even come close to the performance of explorer. Okay, blackbox, windowmaker, etc are fast. Then, try to play a game or watch a DVD. Yeah, you can get it to work. Only after serious time spent installing and tweaking. Then, performance isn't as goog as windows. Now, I LOVE Linux and use it for servers/firewall, but as a desktop OS....Its got a long way to go. Also, I HATE windows. Hmmm....that leaves OSX. CompUSA, here I come.
What is the freakin point of using IE on a mac? Office I can understand, since all the sheep of the world use it. IE? WHY? WHY? WHY? Must be like the people waiting for that rpm of IE for the lastest release of Redhat.
The best UI was designed a long time ago. It was done by a little company called NeXT. That is why I use windowmaker. KDE blows. If I wanted windows, I would...well you know.

I used aol back in the 3.0 days and it was annoying then. Now, from what friends have told me, these ads are getting out of control. Who wants to pay for an ISP (the most expensive dialup, i think) and get all that crap. Oh, well. Simple solution....DON'T USE THEM!!!!!!!!!

you have to look at the volume of ebooks sold versus paper. It may take less to publish and ebook, but how many people actually buy one. I have an REB 100 ebook reader (I love this little toy) and I also read books on my palm phone. But, I have yet to actually buy an ebook. Other than the obvious shady ways of obtaining an ebook, there are thousands available for free. http://promo.net/pg/ for one. These are, of course, public domain books. They are also classics. If you want an ebook cheaper than paper...buy the paper and scan it. I don't think we'll see ebooks cheaper than paper books. I mean how much does the paper for the book really cost....$.50, $1.00? Its the story your paying for. Those damned authors and publishers actually expect to get payed for what the do. how dare them!
there is an ftp mirror at ftp://distro.ibiblio.org. I got it installed and made the mistake of running sorcery update. I am now on my 8th try at trying to get a file off of the site. I wonder how many times it will retry?
have you people ever thought that he might already a system and NOT a DVD, which would be why this question was asked. I would start with LRP or slackware. Or even try and get that bootable ISO from simply GNUStep (though I believe the ISO is still not available for download)and add a DVD player to it. You would need just the basics. You might want to stick with CDRWs until you get it right.

Most people I know with certs don't have any clue when it comes to real world situations. certs do NOT = experience. I know two so called MCSEs that I would trust with my VCR. I personally have one cert and that got me in the door originally, but since then I have proved myself with my experience.
You can't compare AIDS to a computer virus. Last time I checked, AIDS has killed a LOT of people and I have yet to hear about a computer virus killing anyone. I don't support these people, but I think that there are a lot more important things in life to worry about.
Educate potential victims, and treat anti-social predators like predators.
Come on. If these people wanted to be educated they would. That is why Symantec and Mcafee make millions selling their software. And I don't think you can call some stupid kid hacking a worm, a predator. Idiot maybe, but not predator.

Its a hard drive that plugs into a CF slot. If CF slots work under BSD, it will work.
It doesn't have the advantage of no moving parts. Drop a mp3 player with a hard drive in it and you get a dead hard drive.
