Interestingly enough I go to the coffee shop that I go to specifically because there is no wifi. If they installed it, I would get nothing done!

Actually someone I knew went up to the waitress and requested they get it. My response was 'if you install it, I am not coming back'...

Normally I would tend to agree with you, but I think Woz getting involved brought out another point to me.

The fact is that while Woz and Jobs were this guy's age, they did the same and a lot worse crap, blueboxing, drugs, etc. Look at where they took the world. Apple, the company that is supposed to be about going against the grain, is not living up to itself. In addition, by them suing this guy, they are holding back somebody that could have done a lot of good for others.

I think Apple is just feeding the fears that, as a result of the success of the iPod, the company is changing from what it used to be.

Slashdot is such a damn immense community that it has to appeal to everyone. As a Mac owner, this ia big news to me and the comments are helpful. However, I really couldn't give less of a crap about a new kernel update, FreeBSD, a crappy MMPORG release, RMS bitching about something, or a new rc for slack or moz. Yes I use firefox and am a religious debian user, but I really don't care. So you know what I do? I scroll down, I don't go into the thread and post a 'wtf' type comment.

Its been a couple months since the last point update and the security updates don't make the front page, so yes, I do think it is FP worthy.

"PC games will never go away, but if the market keeps shrinking due to the increasing ease of piracy... then the number and quality of games will almost certainly decrease."

I can see the the logic of this, but couldn't a capitalist argue that Piracy creates a new market force vaguely resembling competition. One could argue if that statement is true, that Piracy actually forces the Games makers not to put out wasteful crap like they all to often do (come on more than 50% are crap with no audience) and force them to make stuff live up to competition. IE, if the game sucks I'd probably pirate it, if its good then I'll drive to Software Etc and pick it up.

Of course one can urge that now the companies have to waste time and money on anti piracy software in the process and that there are games that would appear to have no audience but they create one. (Pokemon, Conker, etc, etc)

I hope the above is coherent, too late in the night to post, I just wanted to see what my thoughts would crop up.
