    Too much realism is boring...thats why we play games.

    When did you last see a film that conformed to reality? I dont think i`ve ever seen any sort of stunt - from cars flying off roofs to something as simple as a guy jumping forward and shooting a gun - without it actually involving a number of cuts/edits; ie the guy jumps forwards, you see him coming down again - suddenly it cuts to another camera and hes now moving down *and forward*.
    It doesnt matter! The problem with games isnt that they are unrealistic (!), its that most of them are *me too* games.

    Most (pro audio, not games) software out now is in 24 bit/96khz land.

    No doubt after a few years of this some smart marketing type will go `I know! lets try and sell them PC`s they can go online and play games with, and also release a dedicated DVD player, and nice hifi systems....`

    Right on! I used to think sites got money when you clicked on the ads, so i avoided clicking, unless i liked the site...then i realised that the more you click, but never actually follow through and buy anything, the more it removes the point of them doing it in the first place. So now i just click like crazy on them! (well, when i`ve temporarily disabled my JunkBuster proxy)

    after all the praise Futurama is getting, that i expected great things from Groenig - the simpsons is the funniest thing ever, and i love it - but Futurama is complete bollocks. I watched 5 episodes, and its a cloying combination of cheesy sentimentality and horrible nerdy nonsense. Its like getting a lecture about loving your parents, every week. Ugh.
    When is `live is hell` being animated?

    Ah - the bravery of being out of range. For all you know `MacFixIts` could be a tiny hobbiest site with no money to waste on expensive lawyers. Its not like this minor story about MacOs version whatever is going to make/break them - fighting Big Scary Lawyers could very easily do that.

    Once again, the publicity surrounding all this means that as the info is now out there, it`ll continue to spread - the site gets publicity, apple gets to look stupid - once again - and people get to vent their spleen on SlashDot. Quite literally, everyone is happy.

    Yeah, i dont get it. I mean, this sort of thing will *always* be pointed out - law or no law. It just means you have to be creative with the way its worded, or post it outside the US, or anonymously to a Usenet group or something. I`m pretty sure if the DECSS source was posted just once, to SlashDot, by an AC, it would still be just as everywhere as it is now.

    My friend had a bike stolen from a shopping centre near London. Despite the area being saturated with cameras, it didnt occur to the police to actually check them. In fact, he had to keep pressing them to get access to the tapes. Think he gave up in the end - luckily he was insured and so didnt give a shit. But it makes you wonder - if they arent being used for that reason...what *are* they being used for?
