I dont really know what my pc looks like, as its out of the way. Sometimes i need to stick a cd in it, or (rarely) a floppy, but even then i dont really look at it.
And if i were bothered, i`d spray it black. But i`m not.
And i don`t think i`ll be using a Mac clone in 6 months. I couldnt tell you whether Apple users will be using PC clones in the next year or so however, but its a more likely scenario.
Most.doc files i get arent from coworkers. They are usually from non-geeks, or its in a work environment where we just *are* using MS stuff, so theres no point in me complaining.
Non-geeks generally hate MS as much as geeks, just because of the speed and stability (or lack thereof) rather than political reasons about Freedom, or technical reasons (like file formats).
Also, Linux doesnt enter into it - the OS someone produced a document with is (or at least should) be none of my concern.
Have Microsoft produced.doc readers for other OS`s. It would seem to be the obvious way to deal with this `problem`, although i guess it does make it easier for hackers to reverse engineer formats for adding to genuinely free software. (then again, how hard is that?)
On a slightly off-topic tip, i think we can safely say that the WTC event makes it pretty unlikely that we`ll be seeing flying cars, no matter what they say in the movies.
Well, that or just pass your driving test twice, and use a false name/id the second time... Thats what people do in the UK anyway - perhaps you have a more sensible way of checking peoples ID before taking driving tests in the States?
I dont drive, however, so the issue is irrelevant.
Built in soundcards are shit. Creative do decent cards (and they have SoundFonts, which allows you to load your own samples into memory without having to use expensive confusing nonsense like Gigasampler). I may finally be able to buy a laptop for audio work!:)
None? Really? What, theres millions of galaxies, each with millions of stars, some proportion of which are going to have planets going around them, and you seriously think we are the only life forms? Why? What makes you so sure.

I wonder why they are warning that they are uncertain they`ll complete it. Anyone here emailed them?
Which part of Europe are you in where handhold consoles (assuming you are talking about GB/GBA) are being shunned in favour of..what? Snake? Memory game? Or the awesome Snake 2! Stuff that makes Quake 3 look revolutionary!

If your definition of censorship is one where I get to censor people from my screen alone, then i think thats a good thing, not a bad thing.
Everyone bitches about how the record companies are slow to adapt new tech and use it for their own ends...where are the musicians using this stuff? Surely if they are so unhappy about distribution methods, they should get off their butts and do something about it?
"How could either of them possibly outsell the PlayStation 2 when neither had shipped enough units to even compete"
Whats that got to do with it? They were *outsold* by the PS2...they didnt sell as many. Thats the important thing - not `how many of what was made were sold`.
the sort of bollocks you`d expect from someone being tortured by the Indian Police (Amnesty International will be able to tell you all about them), just to get them to stop.

Did they do it at all, or was it just faked?
Yeah, right.

I agree that SETI is a waste of time, however.
You`re new here. Anyone can moderate. It shows. Its not fair. Life`s not fair. I wouldnt worry about it.

You wouldnt care though, if you are not interested in transferring the file, but just storing it.
"how long would it take"
Who cares? If you can download a whole CD`s worth of music as a 7 meg file, who cares if it takes 1,2,5,10,20,100 mins to unpack it?
I see. I`ll check it out shortly. Lets hope it works out about the same price as a gba and a mobile phone, and not £500 or whatever.
Yeah, the stuff about content control was amusing. Since when has that been an issue with consoles? Oh, he means from now on!! Speculation! We`ll see.

No, they are not.

And in their culture, they eat dogs. Whats the difference?
You lot eat cows and lambs etc - whats the fucking difference?

You seriously think that the US government is THAT stupid they`ll make Linux illegal? Who`ll care? You`ll be the laughing stock of the world...again!
Yeah, this actually provides a cover for people to buy, copy, return cds..rather than just having to pretend its an unwanted present/no good etc.
