I think it's a good thing that futurists predictions are further ahead than reality. We might be more inclined to push ourselves if we think we are behind schedule...
By competing with eachother to put out a better product they are competing with Microsoft. Also, remember that they are competing mostly on the product front rather than the advertising front where there is a lot of money wasted (i.e. Pepsi vs Coke).
I would, however, like to see more collaboration between the Linux distros.
We are either going to be taxed to pay for research that is given away for free or we are going to pay for the liceinsing fee through the price of the consumed good. I would rather see research be given away for free rather than be tainted by corporate sponsorship.
Sounds like this would be good for Mars rovers and the like. One of the problems that we have with rovers is that the glass on the photo cells get dirty and degrades the power output of the cells. I know that it doesnt rain on Mars, but this glass and some wind might prevent the degredation from reaching beyond some critical value.
Even though there is no keyboard, text input shouldn't be all that hard. Remember the article about typing with you eyes a few weeks ago? A program called Dasher is the fastest way to input text aside from a keyboard.
http://k12ltsp.org/contents.html is probably a better link. Sorry about that. Don't mod me down for being stupid. If we all moded people down for being stupid..uh...well, I guess we would all be equal.
Go to K12OS.org. They have a modified Redhat distro that allows one to boot terminals (discless workstations) from a main server. This is a cheap solution and easier to impliment than you think. I have actually done it myself!
Also, install GNOME and KDE. The user can figure out for themselves what they like best.
How about we put together some sort of system that maintains the tension on the cable so that if the tension falls it will keep pulling the line. If we can pull the cable in as fast as it is falling there would be no problem. Since the terminal velocity of something so lite pulling it in at it's terminal velocity should be no problem.
Lift some shingles. Put an antenna there. Place some stuff that looks like the shingles that do not disrupt the signal (assuming that the shingles would).
I know this is way off topic, but I looked on Google and found no answers to my question.
How much money is spent on M$ office wacy year? I am curious because I hypothesise that if 10% of that amount could be invested and would yield greater long term returns. If that 10% was instead put into developing an opensource office suite (soon to be gobe) all people who use M$ Office would have a equally robust free alternative. Having this they would save future money from M$ spending.
This seems like a pretty reasoable hypothesis, however if I can think it up, why can the large businesses not? If they have, why have they not proceeded with suck a plan? Am I missing something?

Do we also experience more pleasure? I hope so, it would explain why I'm an eight-pump-chump...

How about you download audio books for just two bucks from this place? Or get some Stephen Hawking stuff for the same price.

Today games, tomorrow Berlin!
Has anyone ever thought about matching some of these machines against eachother?

Whatever happened to making PDA's smaller?
One of the best form factors I have ever seen for a PDA was found in the Rex.

If you day dream and stare off like I did you will get something like this:
realiserson module axiomsy i rendering the sysxagkhbokofieffcvoc with he
The sad thing is that that is pretty much what I wanted to say...
