Why is it that I keep hearing my parents talk when it's my mouth that's moving? Why is it that the looks on my kids faces seem to mirror the thoughts I had when my parents tried to impart their life knowledge by saying similar things?

Somehow I figure the young will grow up eventually and will be saying the same things to their kids, in about 20 years..

I tend to agree with your line of thinking but you have to admit that something really is different this time. Autism rates going through the roof, sperm counts are dropping, huge increases in the kids that can't figure out their gender, etc. These are things that were always there in the margins but have increased enough that something has clearly changed. It's a large enough change that it seems hard to explain away by "they were always there, they were just ignored". If the future is low sperm count autistic transgenders then humanity really has reached the end and the older generation is, for once, correct on it's assessment.

These would be the same economists that push free trade, so they are as objective as CNN or Fox News. These would be the same economists that banished *generations* of middle class and said opps (citation below). The same economists who watched world economies crash then bailed out banks and nobody else? Oh yeah, forgive me for not considering them much. 2 points I'd make, one common sense and the other more math based. The common sense approach is that you can't have billions of dollars flow to China and have tens of thousands of factories in the US close and say that the US wasn't impacted. For free trade all benefits flow to those importing (hint Wall Street not Main Street). The math aspect is that when you look at papers that study both technology and trade impact both are factors *but* technology tends to be more piecemeal add ons while free trade is whole factories closing.

This trend is very true, well documented, and has been happening since the early 70s when wages became decoupled from productivity. This has happened regardless of which party is in power so it's not a D or R issue. It's a free trade / taxes / mass immigration issue. Trump is a symptom of rage at the establishment, as is Bernie. He's actually pretty benign compared to how it will go if things don't improve. Just as people now think of Bush II more fondly based on Trump, Trump himself is likely going to be thought of more fondly than what's down the road. 10. I'm still waiting for the left to figure out that you can have mass immigration or you can have nice things like universal health care but you certainly can't have both.

I'm not a leftist, but this is obviously wrong. Just provide the nice things only to citizens, while taxing immigrants and citizens alike. Then make the path to citizenship sufficiently difficult to keep the system in balance. There will be the small issue of the fact that children of immigrants are citizens, but history shows that the children of immigrants are more economically productive than the children of citizens so this is a non-problem; they'll pull their own weight.

This leaves open the question of whether you can afford the nice things even for all citizens, but it's trivial to separate that question from the question of immigration.

How am I obviously wrong? I don't think you grasp the magnitude of the number of anchor babies (ie children of illegals born here who thus become citizens). It's far more than a small issue, it numbers in the millions. History shows that *legal immigrants* are more productive, not illegal immigrants children. That's a distinction that seems lost on many, yourself included. Much like skilled legal immigrants are a net gain while unskilled immigrants, as illegals typically are, are a net loss. Trying to have other nice things like college fees reduced or actually funding the retirement systems is impossible with the anchors dragging you down.

You claim I'm wrong, prove it. Show me the math that magically allows mass immigration in addition to having a nice country with things like universal health care or fully funded retirements for more than just police.

  11. The scam is the father being required to do nothing more for their children then sending a check every month. Put a rubber on it if you don't want them

The scam is the father not having equal time and just being expected to write checks and be blamed by people like yourself for not being involved. If you're not offered equal time it seems unfair to criticize fathers for not spending equal time. For many fathers it's not a question of not wanting them.

I think the danger here is this could be the "Don't hire poor people act". If they are punished for hiring people receiving government benefits, then they won't hire them. So this act might just wind up preventing people from being able to take jobs that allow them to get off government benefits.

So then we'll have new laws and quotas to force you to hire people who will cause extra taxes. At what point does this spaghetti code of laws end?

  14. The democrat party should lean in his direction, but letting the far left of the party drive the bus is a terrible idea.

Sanders is hardly "far left". Single-payer health care and higher tax rates on the upper class are mainstream left-wing ideas. "Far left" would be actual Communist ideas like the general population (as represented by the government) taking ownership of factories, research labs, etc. There are people in the US who support those ideas, but it's such a small minority that they are completely negligible when it comes to elections. If you think that you're a moderate liberal and that Sanders is far left, then you're really a centrist.

I'm still waiting for the left to figure out that you can have mass immigration or you can have nice things like universal health care but you certainly can't have both.

One of my biggest complaints about the left is that they destroy, as they detest the existing and traditional, but never create when it comes to good things. And I don't mean technology and technology as that is more politically neutral. Take the boy scouts as an example. Great institution that was decimated due to being caught up in the culture wars and political correctness. Is there a comparable replacement? Of course not. Or holidays at school. There was a time kids could dress up and enjoy Halloween or have a Christmas program. Both gone and replaced by boys wearing dresses and school shootings. It doesn't offend me personally, but do you really not see why people dressing up as an "Indian" would actually be offensive to many Native people? Because that's the issue here.

I can explain it if you're curious:

White people came over from Europe and committed atrocities against the native population of the Americas for hundreds of years, and now some of us think it would be fun to dress up as a member of that (still oppressed, discriminated against, and suffering lasting effects of the aforementioned genocide) culture.

I can see why someone from a Native American culture would be offended, so I don't dress up as an "Indian", and if you choose to anyway, I'll probably think you're an asshole.

It clearly offends you personally. The people who committed the atrocities are all dead. Note that atrocities were committed by both sides, but all the same they are all long dead. And have been for generations. The native ancestors have the option of living on a reservation or not. In California it's a big boon for them due to casino money. They are very privileged beneficiaries and if somehow the clock was turned back and they were given the option of living in the stone age, as California Indians were, or with their easy casino money there would be few if any that would choose the stone age. They are hardly oppressed, the "discrimination" they face is the perks and benefits that they get over other Americans, and they most definitely aren't suffering. If the tables were turned and the indians wanted to dress up in traditional Oktoberfest outfits should they be allowed or banned for cultural appropriation? I suspect strongly that you are part of the double standard crowd that gives them a pass but wouldn't allow me to do the same.

I don't listen to talk radio of any sort, I prefer to read my news. That said I pick from a variety of outlets including liberal ones like Yahoo news and international ones like BBC. I was on a college campus last week as my GF works on one. In fact she was considering what her shift should dress up as for Halloween this year (last year was all pirates) and one possibility was cowboys & indians. I discouraged her from it as someone, like yourself, would pitch a fit.

I could care less if someone says Monkey as part of a phrase. I recall a friend of mine using the phrase "cheeky money" and getting in trouble for it once by a chip on her shoulder politically correct type because he once said it to a black girl. I think it was over reacting then and I still consider it over reacting now as he used the phrase for everyone not just her. When one can be as overt as saying cancel all white people and get a pass why would I care about a common phrase like monkey it up.
