There are good 3d games. Just like there are lousy cookie-cutter 2d games, and horrible books.
Good. That is the main reason many Thief fans have been staying away from the console versions of their precious game.
It's going to be a good thing indeed for them.
I don't like the model (micro-payments for new content, part of it going to the content creator and a probable large percentage to the distributor, ie: microsoft), but at least it will pave the way for the capability.
I'm assuming "24" refers to the current length of your attention span, in minutes
Ha ha. No. Of course, I'm referring to 24, a tv show created by Joel Surnow, about a Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) battling off threats to the United States. It is very similar to the "Nikita" show that used to star Peta Wilson, based on the french movie of the same name. 5 years ago, I would ignore anything modern, concentrating both on High Fantasy and Sci Fi. And I blame most of the games Warren Spector worked on in the past for that.
If you get flagged as troll, it's for the unnecessary personal attack, not your opinion on the matter. I think the fact that comments on the PC->Console conversion of Deus Ex were so good is exactly what kept me off that game. Same thing for Thief 2. I was very active in the Thief community at the time, and eagerly anticipating System Shock 2. A year after, when both Thief 2 and Deus Ex came out, I think I was busy with a brief return to UO and after that trying to tweak my machine to play Ultima 9. Looking back, I should have skipped that game entirely. The horrors..

Dominoes are still strong in the carribeans and in Haiti. Even with the kids.
A few years ago, my family used to play Romoli every weekend. Plastic tiles, make straights and triples to get rid of your hand. There's probably other names for the game.
One game I'd like to play live is Mahjong. It's fun, but it's noisy.
(this would solve the Game to movie problem, not the other way around)
A lot of movies based on games have been so crappy lately, and I blame the "Uwe Boll" phenomenon.
He's the worst thing that has been happening to the industry. Period.
I don't think it's his fault personally, but it his horrible what happened these past few years. Alone in the dark? (What part of "alone" didn't he understand?) House of the Dead? And next, he's going to butcher Dungeon Siege, Farcry, Bloodrayne and Hunter: reckoning...
Scalable Link Interface, NVIDIA's method for connecting 2 video cards together to produce a single output. This was previously called Scan-Line Interleave in 3dfx's cards. (wiki)
You combine the power of both cards into one display.
Have you read the previous story about that? Stealing a TV series from a store can get you one year and a max fine of 100,000$. Downloading and sharing the second season of Alias, all 22 episodes, can get you that plus around 3,300,000$ because of various laws related to distribution and filesharing, like the NET act.
Will the game be open source? No. Portions of the code contain elements from the original 8bit source code (Icon attributes etc). Jon Freeman kindly provided us with much of the original (and Amiga) "C" code, and ownership remains with him.
Just remember the original game was published by EA.
The best archon-like I've played so far was Dark Legions by Silicon Knights.
Archon Ultra, also distributed by SSI, was good but not quite great, and my floppies died so fast that I never got to really play. Both came out in 1994, but I guess my CD version of Dark Legion lasted longer than the floppy version of Ultra. Must have something to do with a 400 watts bass amp sitting next to my PC at the time.
I still have my archon.exe on more than one hard disk at home.
That is a question that baffled me for a while until Tycho resumed it in one line.
It's a modern day doll house.
Think about it. That's all that it is. Just like your little sister playing around with her Barbies, this is what the Sims is. No more, no less.
I'm not saying it's not good, I'm not saying it's not addictive. But after watching my sister play for a few months, and seeing people still hooked on it, I get the analogy. I played a little but focused more on "let's build a cool house" than even "finding more clever ways to torture Mr.Sims".
Fake? Everything is fake. Wrestling, Religion, Money, TV, even your relationship. Perception is true. I still cry when Alice gets back home, or when Tetsuo dies. All fake, but they touch you more than anything real.
I guess I'll try a few of these mods first chance I get. Some look pretty interesting. A lot of Powergaming stuff, but some nice effect too, because what all RPGs need is more glowmapping on trees.
If you mispronounce his name, which takes a double jointed jaw along with at least two tongues to pronounce correctly, he'll come up and destroy us all.
That, or he'll have Uwe Boll make a movie about these games too.
the problem with current versions of ADCSee is that they also handle video..
So you either program a slideshow or hit pagedown on the viewer and it loads up the next media file. If it's a video with sound, it could take up to 20 seconds just to load it.
I haven't found a way to dissociate it from certain extensions, or to have the viewer skip non static images.

One of my favorite guys on the scene.
Very impressive list of what he has worked on so far.
Ultima VI was my first real PC game, and System Shock has, so far, always been my #1 game.
I haven't even tried Deus Ex yet.. I'm more in a "24" type of mood these days than I was 5 years ago. I guess I'll give it a try.

Trouble.
These guys have been making a mini version of it, along with Hungry Hippo and several others. I don't see it in their current catalog though.
Hungry Hungry Hippo deathmatch.. Always a killer at the office.

This has got to stop.
We want some WaveBongos now.
for some wireless Donkey Konga action.
Rumble on the Wavebird? Where? How?
Unless you are shaking it constantly, which doesn't count.
Liar.

Not going to happen. Not by official channels, anyway.
Both manufacturers and resellers are making way too much on the accessories. They will try to keep their lock-in as long as they can.

XBOX 360 vs. Gamecube revolution
And a box is a cube... meaning X = GAME!
Not only circles.. A box can be a cube...
XBOX 360 = GAMECUBE REVOLUTION
X = GAME !

More marketing power, that's for sure.
The only one that doesn't, the Gamecube, has no piracy problem.
Sorry, that information is just plain wrong.
Read up on the PSO exploit, and the new Starcube loader.
No more skipping.
Your right in the fact that it is not as "mainstream" as a chipped PS2 or Xbox..
but the ViperGC modchip looks like it is changing that.
I need a Crystal report to plain text converter.
Anyone can cook up a script or something? I really can't make sense out of them...
just drop me a note at my gmail if you'd like to try to help.

Then again, I just used the trial version.
