Apple is not the one refusing to do that. AT&T(or whatever your local monopoly carrier for iPhones is) is the one refusing to let them. When Apple went shopping around for carries willing to deal with their demands for Video voice mail and the like AT&T was the only one which said yes with stipulations. Those restrictions are that Apple cannot sell iPhones for use on non AT&T networks. If Apple sold iPhones as you suggest they would be in violation of that agreement since it would be obvious they were trying to capture the hacker market.

Messing with something we do not understand on a global level is just stupid. We know we are pushing more carbon into the atmosphere at a sustained rate never before seen and it is affecting the ocean Ph, that affects the top layer of the ocean which produces a large chunk of the O2 in our atmosphere. If we kill that off we might have a lush green planet with little animal life on it.

IAAPP-Gravity is weak. VERY weak. This is the basis of the evaporation idea. The rest of space has enough latent energy around to pop particles and anti-particles(in exactly equal numbers) in and out of existence. Near the surface of a black hole Hawking theorized that some such particles would be within the schwarzchild radius and their partners outside. These would cause the black hole to lose energy overall as it radiated away particles. This occurs because the binding energy of some such particles is far greater than gravity AT ANY DISTANCE. Basically r^{-2} does NOT always win, other forces have greater influence at different length scales.

Now since TFA states that the light is full spectrum then it necessarily needs to be at around 6000K to "look" like 6000K. Lights that do not emit at full spectrum do not need to be at the the temperature but instead need to mimic it to our senses.

You need to eat so that is 200/month assuming you eat top ramen and little else. Now assuming you are heathy but want to be insured if you get hit by a car walking to the bus stop or find out you have cancer that is going to be another 150/month. So add that up and it is 990/month in bills. BUT, you don't have a phone, you don't pay for utilities, and you cannot do your laundry, and you will be having a visit from the IRS when they find out you are not paying your taxes. Sorry IAAPP and while you can equate energy with mass doing so without thought causes problems. The true equation is a conservation of a four vector length. The mass is measured in whatever units you want and often in particle physics we set the speed of light c=1 but mass and energy have different units which must be accounted for so masses are often quoted as MeV/c^2 or mega electron-volts divided by c^2.

While I agree that this COULD have some effect there are definitely times where the difference between tweddle de and twedle dumb is significant and voting for a third party is like shooting yourself (and everyone else) in the foot (Bush 2004?). The problem with the system in the US is not that it is a two party system but that it is designed to be a two party system. You cannot vote for who you like without worrying that who you really hate might profit from your vote. Changing the way we vote from yes/no to a gradated system would allow those of us who don't want to see another Bush era to vote our true beliefs without jeopardizing the lesser of two evils. Furthermore, there have been no viable third party candidates IMHO, and the vast majority were not worth voting for at all.

How is a patent license holder doing this? Are you suggesting that the point of patents is to provide "on hit wonders" with a lifetime piggy bank? As someone who expects to hold patents within my life I find the idea that someone could buy my patent then sit on the technology to be totally against the point. There are many reasons why a patent license holder would NOT bring a product to market while very few if any reasons why an inventor would not. If society is trying to encourage innovation then we should be pushing for all patents to be brought to market not letting some company sit on their idea till someone else reinvents it then sue everyone all the way to the bank.
