Originally Konami was exiting gaming because of a gambling law that was going to pass in Japan. They wanted to get into gambling and focus harder on pachinko machines.
That law didn't pass, now they are slowly trying to get back into gaming somewhat.
This post brings back some good memories. I remember playing MUDs a lot back in the day. I was an immortal in the Heroes of the Lance game. At some point we were working on building an entirely new world..... and then that never happened and the MUD more or less vanished. Granted I also kind of vanished as a player and immortal so I've no clue entirely what all happened.
Good memories, though.
We have a segment of society that will literally kill to protect the unborn
In the USA, about one third of the population believes that ending the life of a fetus in the third trimester is murder. That is about 110,000,000 people. How many of them murdered someone to stop abortion? Can you name one?
There is a big difference between believing abortion is immoral and murdering people because they commit abortion. The fact that you mix these two actions up shows that you are not serious about understanding people who think outside your narrow, limited point of view.
It's due to everyone being so entrenched in their politics and tribalism. No one is willing to not see the other side as evil at all times.
Someone bombed an abortion clinic because they disagree with abortion? CLEARLY everyone who opposes abortion in any way supports this action and would do the same thing, just because they agree on one thing.
Some say that this means the automakers have to make two types of cars, but that's ludicrous
This does actually remind me of some cars being specifically labeled as meeting CA emission standards. Apparently some performance enthusiasts apparently check this before buying the car, and refuse to get it if it's CA standard due to slightly (no clue) less power.
Years ago I remember reading someone saying Red Venture was a great company to work for. I was still in retail and thought I'd try them out. Then I started reading employee reviews and saw people saying stuff like: "You have to raise your hand to use the bathroom, usually you have to wait 15 minutes and they might tell you that you can't go and to wait til break time."
Decided not to bother.
I seem to recall a few years ago someone who had quit retail for amazon warehouse work... quit the warehouse and went back to hating retail due to it being too physically demanding. This was before the picking robots and whatnot, so they basically were almost running around to pick orders fast enough. She had to quit due to health issues that started popping up and the recommendation of her doctor.
I don't think it was her, but someone else that told me the next part. Something about some of the hotter locations in summer would just have emergency vehicles outside because now and then people would pass out from heat exhaustion during the hotter summer days.
The robots in TFA were matched up with two left thumbed girls who look to have never performed anything manual more complicated than replacing a lightbulb.
Because, for some reason, tons of people want to act like assembling IKEA furniture is some incredible, impossible task that no one can ever decently do right without taking an entire weekend. So of course let's act like these robots are a genius solving super puzzles.
I always remember a few years ago when they did.... Windows 8? They were bragging that the BSOD was gone...........Because it would now be red. Reminds me of when they got rid of the 360's red ring of death - by removing the ring.
You know, just contemplating it, but just let ONE bad event happen that knocks out the US power grid, for even a week or more and let's see how bad things get.
This reminds me of last year when there was a chance of a hurricane messing up our area real bad. My roommate was freaking out about water and food for if we lost power all week and if things got messed up.
I just pulled out my backpacking gear and said: "Well I'm good for about 2 weeks."
I'm only far sighted in my right eye, so I just wear one contact. For a brief moment I thought "Oh this sounds like it might be nice." And then realized this wouldn't go well for me (unless I started wearing a sun monocle?).
Tesla's cars are at best a level two self driving car, that is hands off only.
Tesla cars are a hands off only car, period, the end.
"Tesla sent Dan Noyes a statement Tuesday night that reads in part, "Autopilot requires the driver to be alert and have hands on the wheel... "
Not according to Tesla!
The problem is the example complained that cruise control kept the car at it's current speed without slamming onto the brakes. Not that cruise control wasn't perfect in every situation.
I feel for it to be more accurate to the auto pilot actively steering the car into a barrier, it would be something more like: "I turned on my cruise control at 55mph, and a few minutes later the car started to red line up to 100mph." Braking to avoid an impact is more related to auto pilot (safety aid) than cruise control (holding a desired speed).
With how the general public imagines "auto pilot" it really would be better if Tesla had a different name for it.
Wasn't this one of the cases from last week where it said the autopilot was actively steering people towards concrete divider barriers? Where Tesla's response was: "There's nothing unsafe about this at all"?
The only spam calls I ever get are Red Cross. I've been happy since Google started labeling them as spam. Not because I can't tell (I never answer their calls anyway)... but just because that's what I see them as now.
I can donate blood and get 3 calls within the next 7 days. Leave me alone, why are you calling when I'm at work daily? Or then sometimes on the weekend and/or super early/late hours????
I had assumed we would be given some kind of study of several people. This just talks about a single guy having a bad week around 5 years ago. Has this happened to several others? I'm fairly certain he isn't the only person to ever eat this pepper.
"The South China Morning Post called the event an "epic fail."" And promptly had their social scores plummeting into the negatives....?

Because helping =/= selling for money.

Shhh. Be vewy vewy quiet... I'm hunting pwanets!
I did mine in January... and have been entertained while working for a bank at the people shrieking about their taxes 1-2 days before deadline.
I'm only far sighted in my right eye, so I just wear one contact. For a brief moment I thought "Oh this sounds like it might be nice." And then realized this wouldn't go well for me (unless I started wearing a sun monocle?).
For being rated too low on social media.
It depends on what your definition of 'is' is.
In the movies the pilot flips a switch, a red light comes on, and he goes to the back of the plane to fight hijackers
I can't wait to turn the auto pilot on in my Tesla and then have a rooftop fight with a hijacker as we blast down the highway at 75mph.

Xbox 540 The One
Edge providers would not be allowed to impose "take-it-or-leave-it" offers that require customers to consent in order to use the service.
My first thought was "Here comes the TOS people have to sign to use the service. And this will be buried in the middle of millions of pages somehow."
I had assumed we would be given some kind of study of several people. This just talks about a single guy having a bad week around 5 years ago. Has this happened to several others? I'm fairly certain he isn't the only person to ever eat this pepper.
Alexa will laugh at it.
