And a couple of years ago Twitter was storing user passwords in plain text in a log during authentication requests. The number of times I have worked on brownfield projects where the passwords are stored plain text it almost seem like it is the norm. People would be surprised on how often it happens.
The only thing that will happen here is the same people who are protesting with the sign "We are not Robots" in 5 years will be protesting Amazon with the sign "Amazon hates Humans"
> so they are content with Apple getting 30% of their sales
From what I understand if an company wants to skirt the 30% tax they can offer the app for free and then make the user go online to the companies website, create a login, pay for the app on the website and then log into the app with the paid account. The hitch is they company cannot allow the user to do this from inside the app (this includes using the in app web view). Any purchase / transaction made in the app (either native UI or web view) is subject to the 30% tax. This is how it was explained to me a couple of years ago, not sure if it is the same any more.
I am still using my iPhone 4s (changed the battery) no updates and delete the apps that eventually stop working. All I really use it for now is texting (and the odd phone call from older relatives) and music anyway.
Actually here in Canada there was a big push in 2009 to ban and charge for plastic bags, however most of the stores that adopted it have reversed due to the fact that competitors give them away for free.
I think that Toronto actually had a bi-law to ban them but reversed it a couple of years ago (not 100% sure of that).
Most of the people who let this happen (auto upgrade to Win10) are the same people who believe that MS is calling them about a virus on their computer.
Instead of bringing a better app to the table, it's trying to change the rules of the texting game, on a global scale. Google has been quietly corralling every major cellphone carrier on the planet into adopting technology to replace SMS
Jog my memory but wasn't this caused by a bug in OpenSSL?
Also from what I have read the majority of "hacks" these days are basically phishing scams where people click on unsuspecting links or enter creds into fake web pages. The people behind it are just playing the numbers or doing specific targets (like the DNC hack).
Open source does not save us from ourselves in most cases.

HBO does fine with the model of subscription only.
HBO also has a Cable deal, Netflix does not.

Hello Microsoft 2.0
The decades of embrace, extend, and extinguish have made many wary of MS adoption.

The intern copied a work. He didn't steal shit. Making a copy of something is the opposite of stealing.
I stopped reading right here.
Take, for instance, the Heartbleed bug of 2014...
