Two days later, Mr. Al-Khabaz decided to run a software program called Acunetix, designed to test for vulnerabilities in websites, to ensure that the issues he and Mija had identified had been corrected. A few minutes later, the phone rang in the home he shares with his parents.
So he reports a flaw in the software and then two days later IT detects a possible surface attack on the website which turns out to be him using software that finds other exploits. Seems to me like the student is a moron.
Sorry dude welcome to the real world of consequence.
What are the terms under which the code in all those GitHub projects is made available? A precise answer depends on your jurisdiction and would require a lawyer's advice, but it's likely that the answer for most people is "all rights reserved" -- in other words, you have no rights to use the code. GitHub does not include any useful default licensing terms in its terms of service; the most likely scenario is that any use of the copyrighted material in one of those no-license projects is formally a breach of copyright. Under copyright law, code without a license cannot be legally shared, as the default for copyrighted materials is that all rights are reserved.
Brian Doll, GitHub's VP of Marketing, confirmed this arrangement is intentional:
Code without an explicit license is protected by copyright and is by default All Rights Reserved. The person or people who wrote the code are protected as such. Any time you're using software you didn't write, licensing should be considered and abided.
Imagine yourself stuck in a case where you are facing 30+ years for...
Lots of people have been faced with worse time than this and don't kill themselves; some even face the death penalty. Most people who try and succeed in committing suicide have pretty much in some form or other harbored daemons their entire life. It would not surprise me that he has often throughout his life pondered suicide and maybe even tried and failed.
Or the users they lost were made up by new cell phone / tablet users. Considering 17 million iOS and Android devices were activated on the 25th seems more plausible that they just got new users.
We all know Google hardly makes a dime from Android directly
I dunno about that by licensing the GAPPS they get a cut from the phone maker who uses Android as well developers have to pay to have an account to list their apps under I would say that is making money from Android directly since without it there would be no money coming in at all.
does anyone else think this is sad that Moz is bringing up how many downloads it lost to this "glitch". It's like saying we totally depend on Microsoft to make our browser popular. Otherwise we have no chance against IE or Chrome.

Or
One of the kids did it on purpose for shits and giggles.
You do the same thing and /. would be a much nicer place...
Where's the nerd aspect?
Clearly you are not a nerd if you have to ask that question.

Oh wait...
If Russell was traumatized when his kid is was lost at 3 I can't wait to see what happens to Russell when the kid becomes a teenager.
Am I the only one who has never seen this before?
And Anonymous Coward does not?
Why would you want to run Linux on <insert_device_name_here>, people love to hack things, it's how we learn and keep amused.
Isn't it good that the government
Meh, hackers have no flair for crime, now the Joker in The Dark Knight...
And it doesn't take a rocket scientist to check that box in settings that allows installation from untrusted sources.
So Android is becoming the next Windows with regards to user intelligence?
If you have ever been to and traveled in India, Transit and Traffic features won't be missed...
It all depends on how you look at it.
"6732:87fb:87fa:12a9::54d8"
"6732:87fb:87fa:72a9::54d8"
Notice the difference right away.
And how in your brain is Anonymous forcefully taking down websites based on their ideals any different than the Gov. using SOPA to take down websites?
Pot meet kettle, Hey! We're both black who-da-thunk!
Firefox "Classic" might be a better fit...
So the have a wiki that wants to publish the plans on making a 3D gun on the internet and they are using PayPal...
