How about...
"YOU'VE GOT NO MORTGAGE PAYMENT!"
"YOU'VE GOT NO CHRISTMAS!"
and my personal favorite, since being laid off myself last Tuesday...
"YOU'VE GOT NO REASON TO LIVE!"
... Or will they have kiosks in the store where you can download your music?
Frankly, I would like a selection of circus music to listen to while I shop at Wally-World. I don't know where some of these people come from, but it makes my heart glad to see them. In older times, people had to wait for a travelling circus or carnival to come to town to see a fraction of the freaks and weirdos that I see every time I go to WalMart.
I KNOW that one day I'm going to see someone bite the head off a live chicken.
Someone needs to just run fiber to everyone's house/business and put all these bozos out of business. ... And then we can deal with the "Evil fiber optic companies."
Sorry. Already got it. Quirky internet service, frequent outages, crappy tv reception, and an incompetent customer service department that thinks it should work banker's hours. I thought this was going to be great when I moved into my new home, and after about 6 months ditched them and went with Time Warner. Thank Cthulu I never let them handle my phone lines as well. They may not be the best, but they're better than ClearWorks.
Red Hat Evil Empire?
I sit in shocked amazement. A company devotes itself to open source software, GIVES AWAY its products, MAKES A PROFIT selling support, and you have the hemorrhagic insolence to call them an evil empire?
Woe to ANYONE who becomes successful, lest they become EVIL in the eyes of the mediocre!
The most consistently annoying thing about television is the laugh tracks on so-called comedies. Once you begin to notice them, you'll always hear them, and they'll ALWAYS piss you off.
If there were a mute button to eliminate that clue that someone said or did was supposed to be funny...
I've gotten to the point that the only radio station I listen to on the FM band is the local NPR affiliate. Most of the time when I'm in the car, I'll listen to the AM band for the news stations and some of the talk radio. And even at home on saturday evenings, Prairie Home Companion on the radio while I cook dinner for my wife is a real treat. Sure beats the crap on TV.
My wife still prefers to wake up to the alarm set on radio, and tuned to the local ClearChannel "oldies" station. It's amazing how many times once can hear the same song at about the same time of day... these fools forget to rotate the playlists.
There have been several times when I have walked out of a theatre thinking "There goes two hours of my life I won't ever get back." I wonder if enough people start sending bills to the movie studios for the time lost sitting through their crappy movies (AND the commercials in the trailers) that they might get the hint?
As much as I enjoy browsing the computer book section in B&N (The one in the Austin Arboretum ROCKS), there are at least three reasons for the downturn in computer book sales:
1: The downturn in the economy (& shipping of tech jobs overseas) means less demand for said books
2: Although new books are constantly being published on new technologies, many companies are still supporting legacy systems, and don't have the money to spend on "new-fangled ideas."
3: To possibly a lesser extent, the rise of services such as O'Reilly's excellent Safari, will supplant hard copy sales in places like B&N. Its nice to be able to browse the paper in the store, but the price for a Safari subscription can't be beat.
Used to be independent Texas made untill Anheiser bought them ought a few years ago.
Got a press release on that? The Spoetzl Brewery (makers of Shiner Blonde, Shiner Bock, etc...) is as far as I know still independent. There's nothing on their labels (got a 12 pack in the fridge right now) or around Shiner (just down the road) to indicate any affiliation with the Microsoft of Beers.
A-B Has their terrible "ZiegenBock" as a competing brand, but i wouldn't use that even for cooking.
...and below that:

Who says Slashdot isn't a useful tool? Its an ideal forum for collaboration. As as well as wasting time.
My boss asked me just this morning about a way to monitor the about of time and sites visited by a few "problem" employees. I'm a DBA, and not very well versed in system administration, but how would one go about tracking and reporting this sort of information? I'm especially intrigued by the idea of a customized intranet page or (even better) a daily email sent to the employee and his supervisor
I can see the Hollywood Machine quacking in it's boots over this one
Am I the only one who didn't get a mental image of ducks in galoshes trembling with fear? I hate to pick on typos (I make enough of them myself), but that one was priceless.
Thanks for cheering up my morning!
ME TOO!
but guess what I gave HER!

And the ever popular 'Sending a Marine to Sea'
Hmm... where have I heard this one before?
"He who breaks a thing to findo out how it works has already left the path of wisdom"

-- And when the dramatized version comes out, RMS will be played by the Comic Book Guy...

This sounds familiar. I seem to recall something about them lacing the ketchup with extra sugar as well...

My wife's boss is doing the same thing. scrubs, a stethoscope, and a home depot tool belt with speculums hanging from it. His name: "Dr. O. B. Quiet"

Do we HAVE to bring him back down again?
Did SCO buy Apple Music when no one was looking?

Don't forget spammers! Gotta catch those pesky spammers!
The scary part is this was modded "Funny." It should have been modded "Prophetic"
