The point of XML is to seperate the presentation from the content anyway. If you add in formatting and what have you directly into XML you have defeated that purpose. That is why there is XSL and CSS. Those are the things you are supposed to use for the actual presentation and formatting.

    You whiny sniveling little bitch...

No game system is perfect, neither is customer service.

Those familiar with paper-based RPGs understand this. Balancing is always a problem. How realistic you make the world is a problem. Do I use a d20 system, or a d6 system. You'll never find a perfect system. I play D&D, Call of Cthulu, Spy Craft, and a pleathora of other games, which no longer exhist because of someone's monopolistic tendancies WotCHasbro.

As for customer service. When you consider the vast number of people that play the game, it is amazing there aren't worse problems. You whine about this, that and the other thing, and you play one of the most powerful soloing classes in the game. What's wrong with you. I work a full-time job (during the day), and come home and casually play (occasionally play a few hours) after work, and have as of yet run into these major problems of MOB accessiblity that you complain about.

What about the flames, the harrassment? Welcome to real-life bubble boy. We are fucking human beings not god damned robots. Flames, and harrassment occur as a result of that. You have some fairly unrealistic expectations if you think you aren't going to get the occasional flame, train, or sexual comeon.

Time pits... hmm... sounds like an awful lot of projects I work on in real-life. When was the last time you ever worked on a thing that took mere seconds or minutes to accomplish? This is a roleplaying game. There are some tasks that take hours and days to accomplish, yes. And yes somethings can be very tedious (try being and Iksar Shadowknight working on Greenmist), but that is to be expected for a good item. What did you think you could dump coin on your character and be able to go buy all the uber crap in the game to twink out your Necro? I seriously hope not, because if you did you missed the point of roleplaying. Right now I am running a Call of Cthulu campaign, and in a 5-6 hour session was only able to accomplish 1 day in the game world. Sounds pretty damn tedious to me, and I was the bloody GM.

SO... to summarize. Yes the game does have its problems. Why be so stunned that something that is so damn big, and requires so many resources does have problems. Why worry about other people's "harrassment"? Why worry about the length of some of the quests? You choose to have fun. Not Sony, not Verant, not the people in the game that you group or raid with, you do. I can't understand how a person who is playing one of the best soloing classes, can be so whiny and negative. If anyone has any right to bitch it would be me and my roommate. We're taking the hardest approach to the game, we're Iksar Shadowknight. Guess what I wouldn't change that for love nor money :D

This is a bit of information I have been spouting off about for the last several months.

In order for any company to compete, and perhaps destroy the Intel/Microsoft cartel they have to be able to offer 2 things.

Thing 1: Easy to use operating system...

Many Linux fanatics view Linux as the silver bullet for restoring competition back into the computer industry. I say BAH! Linux, in order to offer more acceptance into the computer community needs to work on it's GUI in order to be something every Joe Blow user is going to want to use, and feel comfortable using. Apple is light years ahead in research for usability. Granted some usability experts will tell you there are some, but few, inherent flaws to MacOS X's usability, but it still reigns supreme over others nonetheless. Here is a good article that is somewhat related to this MacOS X Article

    Thingy Numbero 2:

Apple needs to get into bed with a chip manufacturer with more production facilities. This is a good idea since this will cheapen the hardware needed to make an iMac or a PowerMac. If I recall correct, Apple recently has decided to get IBM to produce the PowerPC chips that will be in their boxes. IBM has more facilities to manufacture said chips, which makes them a wiser choice over Motorola. I personally don't think this will last. I think that Apple should hook up with AMD in very much the same way that Microsoft has with Intel. If memory serves, AMD has even more facilities than IBM. Additionally AMDs architecture isn't too dissimilar from the PowerPC architecture. This sort of alliance would only serve to make both companies better.

I personally believe that this is the only way anyone is going to give Intel/Microsoft a run for their money.

FYI if you think that Microsoft is the only problem think again. Intel is just as bad as Microsoft in the scheme of things. There is a need for reestablished competition in not just the software industry, but the processor industry as well.

I play about maybe 4-10 hours a week, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. There have been many studies, quite a few which have been posted on this website. Most of which say the same thing, which coincidentally is the same reason many are addicted to IM, IRC, or join gangs. It is because it offers a sense of belonging for those that don't seem to fit in socially. Think about how many people are on Everquest at a given time. Wow! That is a lot of people to be socially interactive with. Someone that isn't socially active, has a low self-esteem, or are perpetually depressed are probably going to base their value on such a game. Do the freaking logic! I am sorry that the lady's son committed suicide, and yes it was probably a direct result of someone flaming him, but I have to side with Sony. They are definately doing the right thing, and are protecting all players from a potential lawsuit that was probably based on something as small as someone telling the guy they didn't like him, or he fell in love with one of the toons and he was dissed. If this is what he was basing his value or success on he would have more than likely committed suicide if had been a face to face encounter in REAL LIFE. If anyone sides with this lawsuit give that some thought. If he wouldn't have been playing this he would have probably committed suicide because of some other factor anyway.

Or perhaps in YOUR limited hindsight you could offer a solution that forces minors to lie to participate in something they view as both fun and interesting. In the previous posts above one such person suggested that Apple rewrite the contract to allow a legal guardian to sign.

Yes this is acceptable. In most states the parent or legal guardian can do such things, and they are legally binding, as that person is responsible in making decisions for that child. So instead of firing, or whatever you would call giving a volunteer the boot, they should have asked that boy's parents for approval and sent them a contract.

I have always been a proponent of setting up things, legal things, children that age can participate in without having to lie about their age. Apple should have taken the time to think that through instead of assuming that only PhDs would be the only ones that would want to hack Apple source.

So you don't misunderstand me, YES he lied, but to participate in something that obviously he enjoyed (yeah a kid can have fun coding, I did)that was legal and would teach him valuble work related skills. Sorry, but McDonald's or any other stereotypic blue collar job that most kids are "privledged" to work in is only going to enforce a poor work ethic, as their experience is going to be unpleasant. They need to realize, just like us adults we should do something we enjoy as a career. Yeah at the end of the day we need to clothe ourselves and our families, but that shouldn't also come at the expense of our personal fullfillment. If you come home miserable and bitch about how you hate your job you are just going to make yourself and family miserable.

Most falling in the 17-18 year old range. They worked every bit as hard as an adult and in many ways were as mature if not more mature than many adults.

Here is the rub. The way age discrimination laws read they only apply to adults 40 years of age or older. I say this is utter crap what of the younger people that fall between 16-18. In the US most kids have their first jobs when they are 16. If the teen can show he is capable of doing the work, and doing it well let him work. In some cases they can do just as well as someone that has been doing the work for as long as me, and in some cases are more willing to learn and adjust to the needs of the group. Since when has open source discriminated on anything (ie., sex, race, or even age). This is a fairly optimistic outlook considering it took me 6 reboots to get my install to connect. When I did finally get things to work I couldn't keep from going LD (link dead to the uninitiated), with my Vah Shair character. The lag and what not wasn't a suprise to me as alot of people that play ran out to get their copy on the same day. Many of these people hadn't played in months, and were looking forward to the alternative skill option of leveling. Case in point East Commons had like 60+ people on the server that I play on. Making a fairly commonly used zone almost unplayable. Most of the people were sitting around checking out the new social animations like a bunch of newbies.

All this said I tell you, this is a great expansion pack, with great graphics, even for the Iksar, which I play. Give it a couple of weeks when the newness wears off of the wannabe players, and everyone starts going back to performing their quests instead of admiring the new graphics, and everything will start to shake itself out.
