    When my curiosity calls, I have to satisfy it.

    That technology from Epson when applied to game, users do not put on those wearable display for hours and hours every single day, they only put them on when they play games.

    On the other hand, nurses working in the hospitals may end up wearing the glasses which projects infrared lights many hours each days.

    My question being --- Would prolonged exposure to infrared light poses any danger on the eyes of the wearer ?

    What is the use of complaining about the failure of the school system if we, as parents, don't even bother to teach our own children in the first place ?

    The fault of parents nowadays is that we OUTSOURCE the task of teaching our own children to schools.

    If we are to become parents, it's our primary responsibility to ensure that our children know how to learn, and how to enjoy the process of learning.

    Too many times I see parents throwing their children to school and then wipe their hands off as though it's none of their business what their children gonna learn in school and how their children will end up becoming.

    Why would I buy back my old companies even if I can buy them back pennies on the dollar ?

    When I sold my companies, I did not only sell the companies. I sold them what I had created, I sold them the years I have invested in those companies, the ideas that I've put in them, the niche market that they've created

    And if the buyers fucked up the companies that they bought from me, they are already damaged goods - and unlike Michael Dell, I will not buy back the damaged goods, not even for pennies on the dollar

    Same thing with the companies that I have helped created - be it with seed money, with mentoring, or with the connections that I have - when it came time for me to sell off the shares, that's it

    I rather put my time in creating something new, or invest in startups that make sense

    I mean seriously, lets give everyone a TI-89 and teach them to use it!

    Even better, make students learn a legitimate math software, like MathCAD or Maple or something

    ... too many young uns (and the not-so-young uns) relying too much on the calculators because they do NOT have _any_ solid math foundation

    Those who have solid math foundation, even with using high-end calculators would have the capability to sense if the answer is correct by instinct, for there is always the possibility of inputting the formula wrongly in the first place

    Unfortunately, for those without solid math background, they will take _any_ answer appears on the screen, as they neither possess the solid math instinct, nor the knowledge if they have keyed in the right formula or not, in the first place

    They had that planned all along, and they have greased all the palms that needed to be greased - from the politicians (from both sides of the aisle) to the corporate CEOs - that is how they got their PRISM (among all their many other_It's like absolutely no one can figure out how the hell we got here) schemes launched without anyone beating an eyelid.

    Had it not because of a courageous squeeky wheel, ~ Edward Snowden, ~ they could have accomplished EVEN MORE !

    ... I was doing some reading on India's Mars mission and found two articles quoting the price tag for the entire mission to be $ 83 million.

    Yes, you read it right, Eight-Three-Million-United-States-Dollars !

    I don't know what NASA can come up with $ 83 Million, but I am pretty sure if NASA to send another probe to Mars it would be far greater than that.

    PS. To my Indian friends, can you please share with us how you guys can keep the budget so low?

    I'm part of one of these younger generations, and I'm honestly not interested in getting involved because I've seen how much of a raging asshole Linuz can be. He's a great maintainer, but he could be honest and give constructive criticism in less condescending ways. I'm not as experienced as he is, but that doesn't give him the right to be a complete dick in public theater.

    I've been in the Linux scene very early, and I've watched contributors come and go

    The one thing that I've observed is that it's kinda generation gap

    The older crop (age 40+) were the ones who like to take on challenges - and even when they have been shouted down, they still come back again and again, with better and better code implementation, to prove others wrong

    The younger crop (age 35 or younger), on the other hand, can't stand people criticizing their code

    They seem to think that since it's their code and they have contributed it FREE OF CHARGE others must be happy to accept them as is

    What has transpired in the Linux Kernel scene reflects what is going on in the society at large, as well

    The young uns can't stand criticism because they think they are too good to be criticized

    Those old farts, on the other hand, don't mind criticism, and in fact, many actually welcome criticisms, for criticism only makes them tougher

    I know, it's too much a generalization - as there are exceptions - but at least that's from my own observation

    Capitalism is not fool-proof.

    Capitalism has a lot of faults in it

    But compare Capitalism to Marxism, Capitalism still wins hands down

    I am saying this based on my own experience - I was from a very Marxist-oriented country and the country turned from bad to worse under Marxism

    Decades later, after that country started to adopt Capitalism, things began to start picking up

    Now that country has the world's 2nd largest GDP

    Yes, that country was China - and yes, I was from China - and please don't tell me how bad Capitalism is, because I can easily retort with real life disastrous examples of Marxism

    My English is at best, remains at the secondary (high school) level - for English is the 5th language I picked up

    I write based on what I have experienced, and I suspect (other than the trolls) most people here leave their comments based on their own life experiences

    In my entire life I have never written an article before - I never need to

    I am a nerd, a geek, a tinker, one who likes to get his hands dirty just to find out how things work, and if all attempts failed, take a step back and starts thinking, and after that, doubling the effort into finding out the answer/solution to whatever problem lies ahead

    You want me to code ? No problem. I've done that for decades

    You want me to do chip layout design ? No problem

    You want me to fix my own car ? Re-design the firmware of the chip that controls my car engine ? No problem

    But please ... don't ask me to write a formal article

    As user "Areyoukiddingme" has remarked on my use of profanity ... that's the way I am, in my real life, and that's the way it reflects on my writing

    Anyone working with me knows that I never minced words - when I am annoyed, all kinds of expletive come out, in all the languages that I ever know

    It's not that I do not care for America - I do care, it's MY COUNTRY (eventhough I was not born in America, USA is more important than me than China, the country I was born in), but don't expect me to pen a flowerly worded article so that it could be pasted somewhere as "op-ed"

    I am no sociologist, so I do not know where the failure lies - it could be democracy itself, it could be society, it could be education, it could even be "trendy" - but...

    What is more shocking is that, if the government is immoral, how long do you expect their subjects (the people, that is) to remain upright morally ?

    Government (and/or regimes) are like parents.
