You don't need a contract "...to use that product after [you] purchased it in a store...". If that's all you or anyone ever did with something, there'd be no need for a contract or agreement or anything. It's all the other shit that people do that need to be prohibited and regulated. Things like copying it and giving away (or selling) those copies. Or modifying the program and making your own version. Or any of the other things that people have done with other people's software that they didn't have the right to.

The reason we have all these license restrictions is because of all the assholes out there who try to make a quick buck off someone else. If we were all 'good' people (for whatever definition of good we can agree on), there would be very little reason to have all these EULA's. But I'm sure that any lawyers put out of work by all of us treating each other well would quickly come up with a new way to keep food on their table.

There were people who used to do this. Back in '98 or so, there were quite a few people who would haunt flea markets and yard/garage sales, buy anything and everything they thought they could resell and hawk it on ebay. I know I read more than one story about these 'entrepeneurs'.

Eventually, the masses figured out they could do the same thing and supplement their income. All of a sudden, things were a lot scarcer at the junk sales. There were all kinds of articles about the lot of the poor ebay entrepeneur.

I'm sure there are still a few people making a living off of ebay, but I seriously doubt it's 'millions'.

I'll let you sit and ponder that for a moment...

Let's say that I didn't leave the front of the class to a thundering round of applause. Did I mention that this was a catholic high school? Did I mention I didn't have very many friends at school? Can you guess I was a little bit of a loner and outcast? Describing latent hermaphrodites to a stunned crowd of adolescents. What was I thinking?

I wonder if this is the root cause of depravity among the ruling class. Our elected leaders usually only last 4-6 years. But those kings of old that ruled for decades, maybe the body realized it was under stress and looked for outlets that relieved that stress.

Could explain all that debauchery and inbreeding and stuff. Or maybe it's just because they had absolute power and could do whatever they wanted with impugnity. I bet a good defense lawyer could use it in court.

"I submit that my client, Caligula, committed these atrocities as stress relief. He didn't really want to do all these things the prosecution alleges. His body was just looking to alleviate all the stress he's been under in running the Roman empire. He's a victim of stress, nothing more. A good man with too much pressure on him."

Yes, growing pains. I barely remember those. (I'm old.) It was really weird. The only thing that kept me from seeing a doctor was reading stuff online where others had written about the same thing. It was almost like the caffeine was leeching out of my bones or something.

It was about a week that it lasted for me. Of course, I had already cut way down - just one big (24 oz or so) cup in the morning. No other caffeine during the day.

The funny thing is that I never used to eat chocolate before. I would occasionally, like on Halloween, but I never cared for it much. Now, I get cravings for Snickers or Reese's sometimes. About once or twice a week. The body is a weird thing.

I quit in April of this year. I don't really have an addictive personality, so it wasn't that hard. I do get cravings. I first cut my intake to one (big) cup in the morning. That was for about a year. Then I quit cold turkey. No coffee. No tea. No coke. Nada.

I didn't really have headaches, I had aches in my bones. It's hard to describe, but for at least a week I had this deep ache in all my bones. I assume this is the 'muscle ache' that the study talked about, but to me, it was really deep inside, like it was in my... bones. Very weird. I work out occasionally, so I know what sore muscles feel like. This was different.

Read a few websites and found other people who had felt the same thing. After a few days it went away and I've been caffeine free since. Sometimes I still really, really want that morning cup. It's not that difficult to say no. Like I said, I guess I don't have an addictive personality. Yay me!
