I should have said interresting instead of interressant. This day with all the french-hating I avoid saying I am french and use instead circumlocution ("Latin-based" language hehe).
I can read this sentence almost instantly and i am not english native, neither is my home language directly related to english language (Latin based). But on the other hand I read very easily english (although I write it with a lot errors).
I think this has partly to do with *how* you learnt english , but not whether it is your home language or not. (Heck I understand english humor perfectly like Discworld tongue-in-cheek humor whereas some Australian friend do not understand it). By "how" I mean how you read any word even in your own language !
Believe me or not I know I read by "grasping" what the phonem of a word are, and not necessaraly in a linear order. For example when i read a word which i do not know at all, I realize I read 1st phonem , then 3rd and 4th then 2nd etc... And not 1st , then 2nd, then 3rd. I also read book very quick with a full comprehension of what is written.
This seems to me to be pointing that "reading" might be far more complicated than most people describe it,might be education and cultural related, and depend on other factor. Such as training, whether you find pleasure in it or not, and (tadam) whether you learnt the language on your own without using somebody else method (as in my case with english : self taught).
It might be interressant to compare how people learn foreign language and then compare how they read *jumblewd* word out of those foreign language. it might give better conclusion than using native reader recognition of words.

This is about monopoly of information source. The regulation , just like the sherman act, was put there to avoid a total concentration in a branch. What people oppose isn't fox per see, or clear channel, it is that one giant media organisation own everything and then imprint its own opinion/color onto everything. And since it would own the majority of the media there would be no way to get other source of info. Think simply of the skewing of the free market when there is a complete monopoly, but instead of pohysical product, think "information". That is IMO certainly a bigger threat to any nation/citizen freedom than any monopoly in a physical object industry.

Well here is the process we used, 10 years ago, I think it may have been perfectionned, but the basic is probably the same.
* First you seed the surface of where you want to grow diamond with diamond pulver (we used silicium waffer put in a liquid with low frequency vibration and diamond powder).
* then you put it in the middle of a Plasma oven (ours was a simple micro wave 10KW half spherical. i am speaking of industrial/labor microwave here).
* At this point various technic is created to make the plasma (there is a lot of litterature here available. just search plasma physic). Ours was H2 gas with about 1 to 5% CH4 gas, with a plasma of 6Kilo K (IIRC...).
* wait a bit (hours).
Et Voila ! Your microscopic diamond pulver grew in size and if logn enough make a nice shiny surface diamond. Ok it might not look as good as what your GF wants, but good enough for industrial application in the diamond age.
By the way, there was a slight yellowish hue, visible if you compared side by side in full light with a white paper screen behind a natural one and a industrial one. This was due to carbon inclusion which were not tetrahedrical crystalin. I dunno if the technic perfectionend in 10 years...
The proposal has a number of safeguard clauses:
* the proposal restates the general principles of intellectual property rights law, namely that procedures should be fair, not unnecessarily complicated, slow or costly and should not create barriers to 'legitimate trade'
* any penalties applied to offenders should be 'effective, proportionate and deterrent' i.e. the penalty should fit the crime
* where the Directive allows for seizure of suspect goods for evidence, the company or person whose goods have been seized can ask for a review of the seizure. Furthermore, the judge can make the rightholder pay a refundable guarantee which will be forfeit if the case brought is unfounded
* where the Directive allows for a court to force someone involved in handling infringing goods to reveal who they bought the illegal goods from, this can only be done under certain conditions (e.g. where this would not incriminate the person giving the information, so-called right to avoid self-incrimination)
* where the Directive allows for 'interlocutory injunctions' (an injunction in advance of a decision on the merits of the case), the company or person who has been ordered to stop participating in the suspected infringement can ask for a review of the injunction. Furthermore, the judge can make the rightholder pay a refundable guarantee which will be forfeit if the case brought is unfounded. In this case, the judge can also order the rightholder to compensate the suspected offender who is found innocent for any loss they have suffered as a result of the injunction
* where the Directive allows for various measures following a decision on the merits of a case (e.g. recall, destruction of goods or disposal outside commercial channels), this will not be applied where the offender has acted in good faith (i.e. neither intentionally nor through negligence) and can agree a fair settlement with the rightholder whose rights have been infringed
* legal costs are awarded also to the alleged offender, if they are found to be innocent

Revolution only brutaly move the people up and down in the social pyramid (stealing/confiscating/murder/rape/execution) for some, but the rest "the paysant" the serf and so on, (particulary in the case of french revolution, anyone outside Paris) never changed anything. Note that I am speaking on the WHOLE. On a small scale you can observe social progress for some, but onlyx at the detriment of other. Why is that there is no progress ? Because of two facts :
1) even if the worst dictature the base of the pyramide (the people making up the most basic workforce), as long as thery fit in, usually only wants her/his next meal and some fun and that is it. Yeah call me elitiste , but if you think most people think of freedom of speech and not their next meal/sex time/alcohol then you are delusionnal. They pay more tax, and fit in even in the worst law, as long as they are left in peace. Only a few Intellectual, or powermonger which are not at the top usually wish the changes. The French revolution wasn't a "people" revolution, you just have to look at its leader beyond the first day.
2) Social revolution perturbate the economic of a country deeply. It doesn't help it. But only *ECONOMIC* help people raise their status in a social scale. You do not live on air and politic. You live on "Food". But while you are on the barricade fighting the goivernement those stuff , like in every war, either aren't supplied regulary or are plainly not grown.
What really change the live of people is economic revolution. not social one. Out of 3 revolution (Russian, French, US) I know that 2 brought more pain than ease for the people, and one (the US) I can't really speak of, but had the extrem advantage to be 1000's of kilometer away from the governement, and wasn't a revolution anyway , but a cut from a colony from its origin, and one can argue this is far easier on the evconomic of stuff.

Encrypting data do not help , because you show the open data to the world.
And if the RIAA sue you, well, you can hardly say to the court/justice , "sorry you can look at my HD , there is nothing to see. Ho wait it is encrypted ! Buahahah!". Then two minutes later you are sumoned to give the key, and 4 minutes later back to case 1 without the expensive encryption.

Sorry but not everybody has expertise in computer. Especially I see my parents are the type of person clicking on it ("but, son, this is a windows message ! You gotta click on it !").
This has nothing to do with intelligence, but rather with scamming less knowledgeable people into doing something they would not do on their own. If this would have been an advertising for a software "X" people would not sue because they would not clik on it by error.
If you fail to see this point, man I advise you to take some step back, breath slowly, and think this twice "Is everybody as knowledgeable as me in Computer ? Am I as knowledgable in those other people area of expertise (sale, Medicine, biology, Math, Law, Cooking whatever) as to mock them with my superior intellect ?". If the answer is twice yes. Well congrat. You must be God and freaking Omniscient... In all other case you have no right to mock those people because they choosed another area of expertise.

I think it is time for me to go away until this topic go in archive because I feel like seething and exploding at the insenssibility of people. Mod me as a troll. Go on. Or flamming.
Bottom line ifDoubleclick was not scamming and faking windows UI, those problem would not exist.
