  1. the tax is too low to pay for smoker health care ! on Arizona Governor Proposes Flab Tax · · Score: 1

Firstly , I know that it is a general custom/black hole tax and goes in general budget. But even if it did not , the smoker do not pay ENOUGH with the tax ! If you want a tax to compensate on the burden due by smoker then the calculation is a tad bit more complicated :

435,000 death for tobbaco but that is all comfounded (laryngical , lung cancer etc....). The Who cite a cost (including fire started by smoker) of 6% total to the economy health cost (in 1999) (http://www.who.int/tobacco/en/atlas13.pdf) and a cost for 2002 of 76 billion it is probably less now so taking the following statistic : http://www.pnlee.co.uk/Downloads/ISS/ISS-USA_071219.pdf we see the cigarette prevalence dropped, that make it a tobacco burden of about 50 billion dollar on health sector (6% 2010 budget).

    We now have a cost

It is difficult to differentiate between tobacco sort (cigare, cigarette, pipe, snuff etc...) but prevalent to 70% is the cigarette so let us assume for a moment it is cigarette only, there has been a sale of 350 billion cigarette. So we are looking at a RISE in price per cigarette of 1/7 dollar, and for a pack of 20 at least 20/7 dollar or about 3 dollar per pack, but as we overestimated the prevalence (75% tobacco sales are cigarette) in reality we take only 75% of that, so 2.25$ 2.25 dollar per pack ONLY for health care
. AS you can see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cigarette_taxes_in_the_United_States there is only very few state with a tax of more than 2$ per pack , most are below 2$ and about 1/4 (?) are at 2$.

To pay for THEIR health care smoker would have to pay USA WIDE at least 2$25 on tax per pack. They don't today. Therefore Smoker today are not paying for the healthcare of their self destructive habit

Citate : "Japanese authorities told the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that radiation levels at the plant site between units 3 and 4 reached a peak of some 400 millisieverts per hour. "This is a high dose-level value," said the body, "but it is a local value at a single location and at a certain point in time." Later readings were 11.9 millisieverts per hour, followed six hours later by 0.6 millisieverts, which the IAEA said "indicate the level of radioactivity has been decreasing." "

    2) Japan *automatically* evacuate people as a precaution, not as a need ! Just like tsunami drill this is something Japan implemented to be on the SAFE side.

    3) radioactivity , a doubling of the normal background rate of Tokyo was measured. Big Fucking Deal. if an inhabitant from tokyo was moving to my region it would take *FIVE* time the background radioactivity they get now per year : about 10 millisievert. And if they were moving to those naturally radioactive hot spring in iran they would get about 80 times the dose.

While i agree that downplaying the problem is not so good, UPPLAYING it as you made is adding to the fucking media circus fear mongering.

It is a bad situation at the moment, but not a catastrophal one. The likely scenario at the moment, is that the fuel goes into containment, a bit of radioactivity might escape, but basically the plant will have to be written off, and the REAKL environmental catastrophe will be all the chemical from chem plants washed inshore over crop field by the tsunami, the destroyed towns, and the dead people. The reactor at the moment isn't even a BLIP compared to that.

I will let any rational person read that twice, and try to reconciliate thazt with the fact astrology pretend to make prediction on people's personality, personality *which* indubitably can directly be sensed by common sense. But hey, since astrology utter FAIL at its own prediction, that's OK i guess.

  21. Yeah. Right. on Stars Remain In Their Usual Places; People Panic · · Score: 1

"a great deal of ignorance about astrology"
No, we are coming from a perspective that there is not a single astrology. Yes even the western astrology vary between practioneer. Even astrlogue are unable to predict better than chance who's sign is which. Astrlogist predict contrary stuff between each other. Tehre is a great deal of ingorance in astrology too. Some astrlogist pretend you need to know the seconds or minutes of your birth date (you know, to try to explain away twins with different presonalities). Some astrologist pretend the PLANET themselves set the influence (hehe, too abd they only added planet when astronomer discovered them) some pretend it is the season the important, some the sun and moon, all have thier kind of lala-land justification. Bottom line is : don't ty to tell us we are ignorant: there are as many astrology as there are astrologer (or nearly).

Astrology makes its observations from a purely relative perspective from Earth.
AstrologyDO NOT make any observation whatsoever. it asserts stuff without any evidence.

As for the 13th sign, that's old news. Astrologers have been debating the usefulness of Ophiuchus for decades at least.
Which is an interresting contradiction with the sideral and twelve sign thingy (Whether it is actually in absolute alignment with that constellation is not the claim, nor is it even relevant. Indeed, tropical astrology (what is predominantly used in the West) doesn't use the constellations at all but puts the zodiac as a fixed wheel around the Earth, so that the Spring equinox is always the first day of Aries) but I guess once you start making stuff up on the spot, why not go a 13th step further.
Astrology is about understanding natural cycles, Care to give a citation on that ? Astrology has ALWAYS been about getting money from gullible (or moving responsibility of a decision on what is basically a throw of dice) and never about any natural cycle whatsoever. Astrology has no basis with reality whatsoever.
It is not about absolute claims of prediction based on absolute alignments. Newspaper horoscopes are, on the whole, a fraud, and not consistent with the true intention and purpose of astrology.
LOL the usual defense , nobody care about newspaper astrology, even nitwit knows something printed a million time can't be right, we all speak of the pretend astrloger which say they are acurate. Study have been made , and TAdam, basically they are able to predict birthdtate based on personality quizz no better than chance, and given NO hot and cold reading, they are no better at making prediction of personality based on biorth date than this : Forer effect wiki.

Astrlogy has always been JUNK. For fuck sake, there is nothing to astrology, absolutely nothing than banality , generality , self dellusion and scamming money.
