how would they actually manage this ?
are they going to remove the "copy" function in the OS'es ? Maybe they will go around and manually disconnect and destroy peoples ethernet cards and modems so that they cant copy files over the internet.
Any copy protection thought up by them would eventually end up cracked anyway, and then they are right back to square one.
When loki does eventually close down, what about all binaries and stuff they made for the games ? Will they be made freely available since we wont be able to buy them any more ? or will we all have to scramble to try and find Loki games at second hand stores and places like ebay ?
I'm sure if this ever was put into normal CPUs, (which would be dumb) many a teenager would have some great after school fun by running into computer shops and seeing who can explode the most PCs. Also, what kind of hsf would you have to use so it doesn't overheat and self-destruct ?
this was a great read for a dull morning. While reading it, something to the tune of Eminem's Stan, popped into my head, like My mailbox's full I'm wondering why.... Im getting all this spam maybe someone could remix the whole song and dedicate it to Bernard. I'm sure he'd love that. Careful not to get a lawsuit filed against you tho...;)
yeah, I can understand why they banned it.
why, only yesterday, I was out on the main roads, with my PSX pad strapped to my belt, frantically pressing the buttons in the hope that the driver would fall out of the car, and I could make a quick getaway from the cops.
Maybe they should take a step back and realise that its only a game. It doesnt teach people to steal cars and commit crimes, that still happens even if GTA was never created. They are just keeping some people away from a quality title.
while its true that most people hare happy with the DivX codec at the moment, if a few people started to use your codec, and it proved to have better audio/video qualityand not as much loss as DivX does, while still keeping the filesizes nice and small, it could take off in a big way.
You should see how it does as closed-source first if that was your plan in the beginning, and open it up later if you decide its not doing as well as you wanted it to.
If these guys do their jobs right, maybe we will see enough improvement that webpages won't have to be specially designed to work with all browsers any more.
Think of all the extra time you'd have on your hands...
sure its personal, I know of a person that got all dressed up in black, and held a funeral for Aerith in FF7 when she died.
Gaming plays a major part of peoples recreation these days, cant expect it not to affect some people:)
.. Microsoft should take all the time and resources they are using on this, and put it into something more useful, like producing their patches faster, and taking more time when making new software so that it isnt released with so many holes in it.
Instead of which, they try to create a new standard, when the current one is doing just fine.
The only problem is that they will keep interrupting the stream each time a new kernel is released.
Just a couple of mirrors from the MIRRORS file on the FTP.

We don't have bestbuy her (UK), but from all their problems, its a wonder people still shop there
I like to read about kernel updates myself. It was meant to be seen as funny, but obviously, it escaped people.
Maybe there should be an option to "Exclude those damn Kernel Updates" in the user preferences.
Exactly, news for nerds, stuff that matters. :)

it had to be said.
the rest of the thread can contain some actual information now that that is out of the way.
... flipper. Seems like the obvious choise ;)
its always nice to see other OS's hitting the shelves. anything that detracts from the space windows would be occuping.
