From the article: After the trail period, where Sunland would sue the first four Flightships
They just bought the boats and they're already seeking litigation. tsk
America, lacking traditions to govern the moral behavior of the people, has from the beginning depended on education to enlighten the people and let them figure out how to act by themselves. This was a good idea, but it's not working because our schools are simply not good at educating people. If, as a student in America, you actually want to learn, then you have to do it on your own DESPITE the school system.
I remember one time playing a cd in my computer, and instead of my cd player software automatically loading it, a bunch of autorun stuff came up. Nothing related to the music either; it was trying to install AOL software. This was the first time I'd seen this kind of thing, and at the time I was really worried about the implications. The ironic part? It was a Celine Dion cd.
I saw this in the store the other day (I live in Japan), and it didn't seem too impressive. Granted, all I saw was the box and the intro screen they had running on a demo machine (no controllers plugged in), but my impression was that it seems to be aimed at little kids. Anyway, it didn't make me feel like buying it or even want to play it.
Mod away, I just thought someone who reads at -1 might want to know:)
By the way, I am a Square/RPG fan and I do own a PS2 so it's not like I'm biased against it for some weird reason.
And yet, USA *NEVER* beats Japan at international tourneys. Come to Japan sometime, and walk into any arcade. I guarantee they'll have SF machines, and kids playing them like they were born for it. In America, I hardly ever found anyone who could give me any kind of challenge, I always had to play my least favorite characters just to make it interesting. Since coming to Japan I use Ken or Gouki and still lose at least 50% of the time to people I don't even know. The kids here have crazy mad SF skillz;)
And don't even get me started on the kids who play Beatmania:) I never would have thought a human being could do things like that If I hadn't seen it myself.
I'm a psychology/computer science major, and after reading all of these posts I really want to write a lot about why the trend of so many people using forums like everquest, AOL chat rooms, etc to find mates is NOT HEALTHY. But then I realize that that would be pointless, everyone KNOWS why, even the people that do it.
I'm speaking from experience, a few years ago I dated and then moved in with a girl I met online. Of course we both had the same social problems that led us to need that avenue to meet in the first place, and it didn't work out in the long run. Put simply, people who go looking for a girlfriend or boyfriend online need to address their need for distance and safety from rejection and face it, not use it to pick up someone only to realize later that you don't love Fred from Alabama, you love Thangor the lvl 62 Paladin with his shiny plate mail:)
Then again, in a world where some 13 year old kid from Krevblorkistan can write an outlook worm and take down hundreds of corporate networks for a few days, it wouldn't be that hard for some activist to slip in a self-replicating "kill humans" subroutine:)
Hey, as long as we're being stupid and paranoid, let's be reasonable and rational about it.
What's the deal here? Nobody behind the scenes at slashdot is literate? It's YOU'RE, damnit. Why is it impossible to read the news on slashdot without being subjected to sub-3rd grade level writing?
Damnit CmdrTaco, learn english already.

I hate to be the guy posting this, but it's "THAN". When comparing two things you say THAN.
I see people posting on here all the time, annoyed by the sub-3rd grade literacy on every news posting. If you can't write, have someone who can read over it and fix it before you post.
Here in Japan they have a game called Monster Dungeon (or something like that), where you sit down and play, and you can earn money by beating quests or finishing dungeons or whatever. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but I sat and watched Japanese men pump money into these machines, sometimes over 1000 yen at a time (that's like US$10).
The game itself is exactly like Nethack with pretty graphics added, from what I could tell. Once you're done playing you can hit the "payout" button and it gives you whatever money you've earned or have left, or you can have it give you a memory card which you can use to continue your character later.
A great way to capitalize on the addictive power of Nethack/ADOM style games in the land of Pachinko, it seems.
My dorm room is also filled with 5 20-somethings at the moment, but all we have is a ps2 and a gamecube. And since the gamecube has 4 controllers and we have smash brothers (I'm in Japan:), that's about all that's getting played.
Oh yeah, and japanese girls are so CUTE when they play smash brothers.:D "pikachu!"
Here in Japan you can get a super-light tiny little phone with a 200 hour battery life and a digital camera built in for free with your subscription. And I get an extra 50% off of that because I'm a student. I love it here. Did I mention that even the middle school students in Japan have cell phones?
Why take the time to read the book when you can just watch the telesync now :)
You know, they sell beer at movie theaters here in Japan. Only problem is, tickets cost like 15 bucks. :(

Now what about all the car thieves in the DC ghettos that read slashdot!? Now they all know! You just ruined the whole plan!
Come on guys, THINK!
is this really new? I think maybe some of my teachers having been using this thing to grade papers.

I understand gravastars taste terrific with cream cheese and red onion.

Found: I watch more Toonami then any channel.
Expected: Third grade education.
Did you steal that tagline from me or did we both steal it from the same place? :)
Well damn, now I have to think of a new one. Hmmmm.

you know what I mean.
What I love is how every time the author of that page makes a reference to his "sliiiiiinky", he changes the number of "i"'s in the word ;)
so, uh, like, dude. could you hook me up with that girlfriend .jpeg?

Oh wait, am I allowed to say that word on /.? Hehe it just occured to me that I actually typed and posted it.
