We had a "required" intro to CS class, all 4 year students had to take it. Of course, the class was pretty hard for non-majors, and it led to rampant cheating.
Girls offering favors for homework, fraternities and sororities offering free test answers, it was a nightmare.
There was one game recently that was outsourced to a firm in Russia. I remember it well.

Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing.
GameSpot Score: 1.0 abysmal Recommendation: Please do not play this game. We cannot stress this enough.
Developer: Stellar Stone Group
Stellar Stone Group is a full-service game development outsourcing company.
The highest technical caliber of Stellar Stone developers coupled with low offshore Russia-based engineering costs gives us sustainable competitive edge to employ more and higher quality engineers than a typical US company can afford, staff up projects faster, put more developers on a project for a better gameplay value and graphics visuals. For our customers that transfers into richier product feature set at the same price point.
I hate to pander to any particular MMORPG, but in World of Warcraft, Death is an experience in itself.
The designers decided to add a "Ghost Mode" to the game so where, yeah, you had to get your corpse, but you were a ghost, and you can talk to ghost NPCs and stuff. Mobs can hurt you until you get back to your body.
I personally think this is a good idea, or at least something that enriches the experience.
That was when I stopped being interested in Buffy.
I wish they would get it through their heads. Its a vampire show. Not a musical. It may have been amusing for the fans of the show, but most of the watchers couldnt stand it.
Why do you think Voyager sucked so much but Next Generation didnt? Because TNG didnt resort to crap. Thats why.
With a Dreamcast, you could probably buy it and 2 or 3 games for 75 bucks. and get a couple of controllers and "Memory" thingies for just under a hundred.
Man I love progress. I'd recommend "Soul Caliber", Powerstone 2, and Super Street Fighter Alpha 3!

As long as companies feel perfectly fine in charging $60, $70, and even $100 USD for sub-quality cable service (or DSL), The US is going to remain behind.
Well, there were exceptions. Friendly fire was a server option, so you got shot no matter what you were on those servers. But man, when you actually got up to that sniper nest..
Considering my video card just cost me 289 dollars of my christmas money (not counting the rest of the darn computer I'm about to buy), I'd have to agree.
So much more than games to a computer. Believe me, if it just played games, we wouldn't be having this argument. But with a DVD burner, Broadband, and the right know-how, you can do 10x more than what you can do with a console.
Thats why we love our PC's. You just can't do anything on a console besides what they want you to do.
Im not sure about the realism responses, (I managed to use up all my ammo, it was just a demo remember)
As for it being horrible to play, I had my fears, what with my 1.6ghz Athlon and 512 megs of ram.. But my Direct X 8 loving 4200TI played it great, a tiny bit choppy, but no slow down. I didnt have any trouble with any of the settings.
I thought it was very close to the original, just not that complete (it was a small demo anyway). I didnt catch much of the story, but then again, that would take lots more of the missions. If I had to say honestly, I'd say yeah, they dumbed it down slightly with the ammo bit, and the AI probably could use some work, but I think it will be a fun game, and all the x-box owners can rejoice. It will probably make a great rental:)
Mixed reviews, definitely caters to the fans of the original.
I for one, did not find the original all that entertaining. Beat it once.. then the novelty of bullet time wore off and I was stuck watching bad cutscenes.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention I was a Teaching assistant at the time. Good for the students, bad for the graders.
Well I agree with you that the Tribes experience is much more diverse (and sometimes tranquill) as opposed to the non-stop adrenaline of UT2k4.
But there's still something to be said for the diversity of the Game options, as well as the faster game modes which cater to younger gamers.
Different strokes to rule the world, I guess.
Flamebait though? Hardly.

Not many. But like you, I also paid (10.00 bucks at BestBuy, I believe) money for Tribes 2.
I was almost exited about downloading it, but then I realized it just wasnt refined enough for me. Not with UT2k4 out..
I'm not bashing Tribes 2, it was awesome. I just moved on to better things.
Even better, send 10KG worth of a Nuclear Bomb.
Good luck getting it to 10KG, but man, that'd be one hell of a crater!

EA's made a big reputation for themselves in any future MMORPG market, thats for sure.
"Dont Buy MMORPGs from EA"

There's a penalty, but you'll enjoy it.
Unfortunately, they haven't responded to Gabe and Tycho's Accusations

Any show with an episode about Nazis and Vampires, in my mind, has jumped the shark.
Angel has done it. They might as well have ended it right then and there.
Im just glad I didnt pay for it. Horrible excuse for a PC FPS.
Sure, the single player was spiffy, but the lack of any distinguishing multiplayer features pretty much clinched the deletion tab for me.

In the Quake version, it was much more prevalent.
People could'na even walk across da bridge!
Jumping? Gibbed!
Rocket? Gibbed!
Swimming? Toasted!

Rampage!
It also had sentry guns, nail grenades, spamming (mmm..) and detpacks..
runs of to play Mega-Tf

What I wanna know is why they rated that Game as Mature! Its always been rated Teen on blizzard's site.
Ok, the real world and MMORPGS are mixing way too much for my tastes.
Soon, there will be as many people working in the game as there are playing it.
Oh well.. The Gaming Companies should realize this potential, and just start selling items, gold, and characters for money..
But then again, all those accounts.. the monthly fee's alone keep the businesses happy.

Then again, some might say the same thing about Law practice.
Unfortunately most Multiplayer games require that each person have a copy of the software, so that everyone has to buy a copy of it.
As for consoles and single player computer games, you're spot on.
usually the [fanboy / normal] people ratio is lower as the games get worse. A blessing and a curse.

But if you liked Max Payne, then its gold!
You havent lived till you powerslide in a real car.
Then again, I wasnt racing, and it happened way too fast to be enjoyable.
But its a nice tale to scare the teenagers with.
