As far as a Sherman tank goes, that was a JUNKPILE that should have been scrapped as it was being built! It was a poor "armored" vehicle, no real firepower and very little USEFUL armor to protect the passengers inside. I wonder how far Hitler would have gotten in a tank battle against the M1 Abrams we have today?

Since I rarely play any games, I thought I would bring up two I played a few years ago that were fun and "captivating" if you allowed it to control you somewhat. The games were:
1> Sierra's Back in time
2> Broderbund's MYST..(Pyst)
Although Sierra's graphics were lame, the game in and of itself WAS fun; trying to find all the clues and integrate them into finally finding the "secret"...I never did get past the damn safe, no matter what I inputted for numbers, it failed to open!
Myst is a much better game with better graphics and that maze of rooms, objects and text. It was fun to do 360 views and "see" where you were at in the game as well.
I am surprized that hardly anybody on/. mentioned these two "older" games. Tetris and Minesweeper are for kiddies...rote location and easy "cheats" make both a loser's game if "fun" is what you really wanted. Any game that induces thought is a good game, not ones that are shooters, those are time wasters really, and not long-lived as far as attention grabbers go. Getting attention is one thing; KEEPING and HOLDING ones attentyyion is a completely different subject matter!

Thus, with the very much hated DMCA to now be a FRIEND in your corner, you too can now turn the FBI on Borland for circumventing any copy protection "scheme", and with Borland attempting to force you into this, they too are indirect violation of federal law, not once, but twice, since they know the law concerning this action(they ARE in the publishing biz, are they not?) plus the fact that they are also forcing you to assist them in this violation, with this last act being entrapment due to prior knowledge of the law and "forcing" your compliance is really enticing you to break the law, which Borland can not feign ignorance to by the very act they are now imposing upon you at their own demand/s.
Borland is, in effect trying to make the employee testify against themselves, then use the patently offensive EULA's wording to make you comply with their demands and also "circumventing" your rights by citing the EULA the company agreed to.
Being a corporation, I can't see how any legal license, signed by the "legal department" can enforce any employee to comply with the license agreements in whole or in part as that specific document was never seen, nor signed by you, you can't be held liable for any misuse of the software, even if it IS installed on "your" workstation(The computer is not owned by you, is it?).
The ONLY way this can be enforce is through signed agreements specifically noting this to every employee when they are hired, or when new OSs are purchased, I would "assume" the EULA would be passed around for signing, would it not?

A "soldier" is an "srmy" when a group or groups band together for a common goal/objective; regardless of how close-knit that group or band is, the end result is that you are fighting soldiers, and nothing less.
Technology and money does not grant or deny the ability to call oneself a soldier based on what equipment is used, or how much their weaponry cost, it's the mindset, the ultimate goals of the people banded together to fight an enemy, regardless of who or what that enemy is.

That answer is most definately a NO!
To hold hold this fact up historically, then the continental "army" was nothing more than a large group or groups of farmers armed with VERY primitive weapons(by today's standards).

I was involved in this project by designing and integrating the comm/nav controls for these birds. Several had FLIR, and were pusher/tractor craft(two engines fore and aft, with twin tail booms, low light B/W cameras, GPS, altitude/airspeed/temp recording along with engine stats, and more, but a prior NDA prevents further dissertations and "revelations" on uplink/downlink frequencies used and flight paths and so on...
I do have a few 8MM tapes of flights/tests conducted out of Babocamari, and a comunity college's airstrip though, complete with photos and more.....forget I mentioned the Humvees Command/control centers, okay?
The real reason being COST!
The integrated design of any monitor is dependant upon the control electronics, which set the display's refresh rate, scan, purity, frequency and power consumption as well as a host of others.
The display drivers require very specific instruction sets to properly scan the horizontal, and the refresh rate of the vertical so you can't detect teh "flicker" with the naked eye(HATE that!). Encoding any protection scheme into the monitor will force the electronic sub-assemblies to be redesigned to incorporate the algorithms and the newly included encoding hardware. The cost would NOT be undertaken by the manufacturer solely for the benefit of the "industry", but that cost WILL have to come directly out of the pockets of the RIAA/MPAA BEFORE the manufacturer would even consider a total redesing to include this copy-protection measure. Doing an on-floor, immediate board design NEVER occurs in this fashion.
The implementation MUST take place before the initial design, to make it's integration a seamless undertaking and also be less costly for both manufacturer and the "industry".
We're talking millions of dollars in up-front costs here, not to mention the labor costs added to the design, and the extra costs due to the increased hardware.
The case design might also need to be reworked due to the extra electronics "package" now crammed into an already tight enclosure.
Next comes EFFECTIVE cooling/heat dissipation of those components inside the case. See, it's not just one "issue" at stake, but several, intertwined with each other to make the entire cost to produce a risky undertaking for a product not yet "mature" enough to survive on its own merits or value.
Plain truth being this; will the RIAA/MPAA gamble their big money to bring to market, a device not quite accepted as a de-facto standard within the industry? In one simple word; NO!
Certainly not valuable enough to throw away millions of "real" dolars to prevent someone, someplace making a copy for him/herself.
That is a risk I am quite certain they would rather not pursue, currently, that is.

I lived in a city that made implants, and I toured their facility and they gave us "samples" of different implants using both silicone and saline.
What a major difference the two wre, not to mention that "if" your silicone implant leaked, you could end up with major surgical costs, whereas the "leaky" saline implant was simply absorbed, causing no long term effects to our central nervous system.

Okay everybody; Borland's taking these extremist measures to force compliance upon you and/or your business is missing just one tiny piece of the puzzle. Remember DMCA? That nasty tid-bit that makes it a criminal offense to use, distribute, offer for sale, make, manufacture, read about, talk about it law, that this ALSO prevents Borland from accessing secured databases, encrypted files and ALL protected information/databases(this IS where you stored that EULA, right?)
Thus, with the very much hated DMCA to now be a FRIEND in your corner, you too can now turn the FBI on Borland for circumventing any copy protection "scheme", and with Borland attempting to force you into this, they too are indirect violation of federal law, not once, but twice, since they know the law concerning this action(they ARE in the publishing biz, are they not?) plus the fact that they are also forcing you to assist them in this violation, with this last act being entrapment due to prior knowledge of the law and "forcing" your compliance is really enticing you to break the law, which Borland can not feign ignorance to by the very act they are now imposing upon you at their own demand/s.
Borland is, in effect trying to make the employee testify against themselves, then use the patently offensive EULA's wording to make you comply with their demands and also "circumventing" your rights by citing the EULA the company agreed to.
Being a corporation, I can't see how any legal license, signed by the "legal department" can enforce any employee to comply with the license agreements in whole or in part as that specific document was never seen, nor signed by you, you can't be held liable for any misuse of the software, even if it IS installed on "your" workstation(The computer is not owned by you, is it?).
The ONLY way this can be enforce is through signed agreements specifically noting this to every employee when they are hired, or when new OSs are purchased, I would "assume" the EULA would be passed around for signing, would it not?

The real reason being COST!
The integrated design of any monitor is dependant upon the control electronics, which set the display's refresh rate, scan, purity, frequency and power consumption as well as a host of others.
The display drivers require very specific instruction sets to properly scan the horizontal, and the refresh rate of the vertical so you can't detect teh "flicker" with the naked eye(HATE that!). Encoding any protection scheme into the monitor will force the electronic sub-assemblies to be redesigned to incorporate the algorithms and the newly included encoding hardware. The cost would NOT be undertaken by the manufacturer solely for the benefit of the "industry", but that cost WILL have to come directly out of the pockets of the RIAA/MPAA BEFORE the manufacturer would even consider a total redesing to include this copy-protection measure. Doing an on-floor, immediate board design NEVER occurs in this fashion.
The implementation MUST take place before the initial design, to make it's integration a seamless undertaking and also be less costly for both manufacturer and the "industry".
We're talking millions of dollars in up-front costs here, not to mention the labor costs added to the design, and the extra costs due to the increased hardware.
The case design might also need to be reworked due to the extra electronics "package" now crammed into an already tight enclosure.
Next comes EFFECTIVE cooling/heat dissipation of those components inside the case. See, it's not just one "issue" at stake, but several, intertwined with each other to make the entire cost to produce a risky undertaking for a product not yet "mature" enough to survive on its own merits or value.
Plain truth being this; will the RIAA/MPAA gamble their big money to bring to market, a device not quite accepted as a de-facto standard within the industry? In one simple word; NO!
Certainly not valuable enough to throw away millions of "real" dolars to prevent someone, someplace making a copy for him/herself.
That is a risk I am quite certain they would rather not pursue, currently, that is.
