Easy: North Korea does have weapons of mass destruction (nukes) while Iraq does not. And the last thing you want to do is to corner a country which has weapons of mass destruction, especially if you are a Coward such as Bush
Sorry, I feel massing troops for what seems to be an inevitable war hardly cowardly. The actions taken recently in Afghanistan are also hardly cowardly. Such comments are insulting to those who serve/have served in the armed forces. Sending troops to risk their lives and deal with the wrath of their families if they come home dead is not cowardly.
What's cowardly is lobbing hundreds of Tomahawk missiles into a country or blowing up a pharmaceutical factory. That's cowardly and a waste of good munitions.
There are no weapons inspections in North Korea simply because the North Koreans won't put up with them. They recently broke all their agreements with the international community and kicked out the IAEA inspectors. The main difference between them and Iraq is that Iraq agreed to the inspections and disarming as part of the end of the 90's Gulf War. Another major difference is Iraq is run by an intelligent and resourceful man while North Korea is run by a fruitcake. North Korea has a rather large standing army and doesn't seem like they'd put up with crap from anyone. All their posturing and threats now are just that of a regime dying on the vine, and I really think if push comes to shove, if they are gonna go out, they'll go out with a bang.
So North Korea scares me a hell of a lot more than Iraq does. Which makes me wonder what they'll do once the US is occupied with a war in the middle east.
So don't get me wrong. I'm not gung-ho about the current Iraq situation either. I served in the US Marines during the 1st Gulf War, and I really feel sorry for those poor bastards who have to go this time to clean up after a job that should have been finished the first time around.
So, out of curiosity, how long after the Windows release of those games did you have to wait? I'm asking seriously, not necessarily trying to counter-point you here. I honestly don't know the answer to that question. But if your answer is "well it took them a few months to port it", then my pain point is still very much in tact.
Hey, I'm a Mac OS X user, any guesses on how long I'll have to wait?
AFAIR, California unsolicited fax lawsuits are fruitless because California "opted-out" of the federal law.
That is, California has their own implementation of the fax law, which requires an removal number and removal upon request. So junk faxers can do so until you notify them, then they sell your fax number to the next guy.
My DSL connection consists of an "electronic signal received over a regular telephone line".
I also have a printer, and run my own mail server.
All I have to do now is make a few accounts and post some drivel on Usenet without masking my e-mail address and watch the funds come rolling in.
I'd do it in a heartbeat, but it's the moving to Michigan part that gives me pause.
Before any of you Michigan residents hit that "Moderate-Troll" button, just take note that I currently reside in California, so y'all can get a good laugh on my expense too.
When Apple is capable of losing well over a quarter million a year, as they have done in the recent past, that 4 billion isn't as much as it looks like.
Yeah, at that burn rate ($250,000) they'll only last 16000 years, tops.
Yes, but before the anticybersquatting bill was passed, this was lucrative wasn't it? At least until the trademark holders figured it was collectively cheaper to pay off politicians than cybersquatters.
Better to register all the common nouns like: shoes.com, cars.com, news.com, sex.com, pr0n.com etc.
Yes, and you would think that at least some people would forward the mail to "abuse@hotmail.com" or simply complain to them about my address sending them spam.
I already know hotmail does not filter spam. If they are, they are doing a real crappy job doing so. As for monitoring/reading email, who knows what the sysadmins do on the boring night-shift over there.
I never said they should monitor my account all day, I would expect them to receive complaints about my account.
I knew something was amiss when my normal 10-20 spam-a-day account suddenly told me my mailbox was full and it was rejecting e-mails. I log in and find over 3 pages of bounces from all sorts of mail programs. Some of the responses were from auto-reply responders, and not a single one was from a real live human.
This deluge continued for another 3 days then suddenly stopped.
The oddest thing about it was I never got a peep from Hotmail's abuse or security departments. Either they knew I was Joe-jobbed or they simply didn't care. I feel it was the latter.

Which reminds me of this little Japanese ditty: TanTanTanuki no kintama wa, kaze mo nai no ni burabura

You night not think very much of it, that is until you actually see how big a tanuki's nads are.
California has a long approval process. If you know what that means, it means "environmental impact study" along with whatever permits are required.
It's been commonly said that no power plants were built in the 90s, and the environmentalist websites try to debunk that. After reading what they say, it turns out there were some plants built. All small, mostly non-utility plants.
In this article, near the bottom, it talks about environmental and (mostly) political opposition to natural gas burning power plants that are popular in California.
But we may be both right, here they talk about this:
What most likely stopped many power plants from actually being built is a powerful NIMBYism (not in my backyard) mentality in California that is in no way limited to "environmentalists." Almost no one -- neighborhoods, businesses, golf courses, hotels, etc. -- wants a power plant, a landfill, radio tower, etc. in their backyard. The environmental "extremists" that often oppose such projects no matter what, often team up with local citizens and businesses (i.e., non environmental extremists) to stop the project. However, many projects are stopped by NIMBYism alone (i.e., little or no environmental opposition was present). NIMBYism and Environmentalism are not the same entity, although NIMBYists often use environmental arguments and they
often enlist environmentalists and environmental groups for support. Ask yourself two simple questions: If someone proposed a new powerplant or new landfill near your neighborhood or business, would you try and fight it? Do you consider yourself a liberal environmentalist?
You can't just slap together a power plant in a few months.
California hadn't built any plants for years before the power crisis, possibly a decade or more. The main reasons are all the environmental studies, regulations, NIMBYism, and protestors.
Californians are just reaping the fruits of their political choices, plain and simple.
Bush and his gang might have left California in a lurch just for "payback". As a Republican living in California, I somehow find all of this less than amusing.
Yes, I suppose "banned" wasn't the right word. But my main point remains, they are overturned more than any other court (better than the CNN reference).
What it looks like is this particular court likes to waste time making bizarre judgements and giving the SCOTUS some comic relief.
This court is one of the most-overturned circuit courts in the US. They are famous with coming up with some of the most crackpot far-leftist decisions. They recently came to fame by banning the Pledge of Allegiance. To quote from CNN:
The 9th Circuit is the most overturned appeals court in the country and is considered by legal scholars to be the most liberal. States under its jurisdiction are Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.
I really would not hold any decision they make of any value at least until it has had a chance to go through the appeals system.
Hotmail worked fine with Safari just after Safari was released, then Microsoft changed something later in the day and all Safari users now get odd Javascript error messages when attempting to log on to Hotmail.
Clicking on the "help" link brings you into your account, and once in, everything works just fine (and faster than IE on the Mac as well).
Couldn't have been worse than the stillborn 2.88MB 3.5" floppy standard. I only remember that being on old NeXT computers and as an odd BIOS setting on 90's-era motherboards.
The only advantage to it was using those old DC2120-type tape backup systems that hooked up to the floppy cable. My tape drive worked at double speed with that setting if the FD controller supported it.

Have the guards nab him and take him to a room where a large red light flashes and an alarm goes off as he passes through the door.
Then he can get the "Silkwood" treatment...

One thing this clearing house doesn't show is the successful deliveries.
That is an important number to use to calculate the % rejects. So I get 3000 rejects, how many original mails were sent? 10,000? 1,000,000?
What is did show is not a single person hit "reply" and send a message asking for more info.

That book was frightening. I remember a short movie made from it was well, it was scary too.
