I mean really, did anyone actually think M$ only collected information about patches? It seems like any chance they get to know more about you, or your "computing habits", they're going to take it.
I was a teenage parent at 16, and believe me, it made my life much more difficult. I'm doing well now, and I'm quite happy with my life, but ages 16-24 were hell.
I'm sorry, where did that article provide the explanation? I saw theory, but no proven, scientific answer, as the last two paragraphs indicate...
It is a plausible idea, says Allan Pack, an expert in respiratory neurobiology at the University of Pennsylvania. "But it's going to be very tough to prove."
Straus thinks the real test of theory will be to look at the specific neurons that control hiccups and suckling. If the team is right, he says, most of the nerve cells that are active during suckling should also be active when we hiccup.
What's the matter, Taco, never heard of SpamAssassin?
It's not always about graphics and violence

Snood, the Simple Game
·
· Score: 5, Insightful
Games are at heart a form a recreation and enjoyment. Some people find games like Counter Strike and UT2003 disturbing, and with good reason. Games like Tetris, Solitaire, and Snood, are simply fun, without the violence. These are the types of games that parents, grandparents, and wifes play. That's a big market.
Heck, I'm a huge RTCW player, but one of my favorite games is still Columns on Sega Genesis.
Keep in mind teaching usually requires at least a Bachlor's degree, something not every geek has (or needs). Usually if you're a programmer/designer, you've got one, but if you're a tech, netadmin, sysadmin, etc, I'd say 50/50 you don't.
I'm fully aware of how to use Google. I'm less aware of how that link solves the problem. You can customize your own laptop to your hearts content. It's still preloaded with Windows XP, and I can't find a way to decline that on their website.
Perhaps a more appropriate use of Google would be to search for "Linux Laptops" and buy your next laptop from a vendor that will allow you purchase a PC without Windows.
Phoenix BIOS's are mostly used by large OEMs, such as Dell, HP, Gateway, and others. They also purchased Award several years ago, so that covers a large number of makers in the motherboard business. Plus, Intel has always used Pheonix for their motherboard BIOS.
Time is what keeps me on Windows. Working 50+ hours a week in IT, being a father and husband, and having an interest in other activities. I don't have time to play around with an OS to get it to do things that Windows and it's apps do w/out thought. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be able to play, I just don't have the time to devote to it. That's not to say I don't keep a distro or two on my machine, they're just not my main OSes.
I need to be able to quickly rip and burn music, do mail merges from my address book, sync my Palm for PIM and financial records, and do my finances easily (including budgeting, paying bills, and downloading statements). I'd love to do all this on Mac OS X, I just can't afford to buy an iBook right now.
In the amount of time it's taken you to research the project you probably could have built one.
Obviously, you've never used a product like SASIxp, or worked in a K-12 school district for that matter. These are incredibly complex packages that handle everything from student records to financial records. In addition, they store the kind of information that allows state and federal mandated reports to be generated, and can generate those reports in the exact manner required.
You're also assuming that the poster is a developer, or has such skills.
It's more than a pronunciation thing, the "h" has actually been dropped from the spelling in academic circles. Even the Discovery channel spells it Neandertal now.
Don't radio stations buffer their own output for editing purposes? I thought I read once that radio stations buffered anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds of radio play in case something went over the air that wasn't supposed to. Maybe that's just for call-in talk-radio.
...then join the Navy. Get on a carrier and see the world. Who knows, you may even pickup a security clearance along the way (very valuable these days) and lose all those pounds you put on in college.
There are a large number of other products that perform similar functions to SMS without requiring NT domains (althought most do need a WinNT/2k server to run on).
We use Altiris Deployment Solution at work, and while I do run it on a Win2k AD domain and SQL Server, it's not a requirement. You just need a WinNT/2k server. We use it to deploy hard drive images, software packages and patches, PC settings migrations, and remote control. There are also plug-in packages that allow for inventory and helpdesk solutions integrated into the same database.
am I forced to involve the telco in how I setup my PBX
There is also some consideration to be given as to how the PBX picks up the phone lines coming into it. The typical telephone uses loop-start to pickup and line for an outgoing call. However, several older-style PBX systems uses ground-start. You'll need to have your lines configured by the telco depending on what kind you might need.
Why are they so excited about a location that is over 100 miles from their nearest constituent company (IBM)?
I'm sure people asked the same kinds of questions when Research Triangle Park was being put together by a multitude of companies. Now it's one of the best places to live in America for technology workers.
Are we going to see Linux drivers for these cards that will perform as well as their Windows counterparts? As much as I hate the closed-source nature of NVidia's Linux drivers, I have to admit they work, and work well.
Additionally, ATI cards have always been renowned for their DVD playback capabilities. I think they could increase their user-base by porting their DVD playback software to Linux, and make it run just a pretty as it does under Windows.

Oh really, Vernon? Why pretend, we both know perfectly well what this is about. You want me to have an abortion!
Wear a condom, or avoid sex altogether.

Are the editors out to lunch today? This is a duplicate from a day or two ago.

Booze. Hello?
Pick their poison and buy a pint of the high quality brand.
The same thing we do every night Pinky. Try and take over the WORLD! (cue theme song)
Actually, it would be more like the RoadTour-HOWTO.

Can someone please explain the relevancy of this project to me now? 1 to 2 GB partitions? What's that, one partition per user directory?

And if you act now, we'll send you two kits for the price of one. That's the two CD-RW hot-rod kits, plus the terry cloth bath robe, absolutley FREE!

Well, I guess it's time to switch all my website's graphics to PNG.
Ugh, I wonder how this is going to affect my scanned photo collection. Anyone know how a PNG photo compares to a JPG one?
