In 1991, AM General began selling a civilian version of the M998 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV or Hum-Vee) vehicle to the public under the brand name Hummer.
I'd say the PS2 was the first DVD player for most of my friends. I know its anecdotal, but we were fresh out of college when the PS2 was released, so money was tight, but everyone picked up a PS2. It wasn't till a few years later that people started picking up standalone DVD players.
to a cable/satellite DVR. If you can either pay $17/month for 3 years to TiVo, or $5/month indefinately to your cable/satellite operator, which one will you chose?
I am guessing that they don't have screenshots b/c they are demoing animations in those movies. Animations are a little difficult to demo in a static image.
Corporate IM is actually becoming pretty popular. It replaces the need to quickly call or run over to someone to ask a quick question that email is overkill for (or that you need an immediate answer for). Lotus Notes has had an IM client (SameTime) in it for a little while now.
Always thought that this would be a good BT profil

Silent or something like that. A device could be installed in locations that would try and pair with any bluetooth devices. You could allow the device the first time, and then everytime you visit that location again, it would automatically shift your phone into silent mode. Would be great for meeting rooms & movie theaters.
While I agree with the point of your post (that the concept of the newspaper is going away). The above statement is flat out wrong. There are some "newspapers" that are simply reprints of AP or Reuters content, but most newspapers provide lots of local content that none of the syndicate news sources cover.
Weird, I specifically checked a former TKR area (Green Brook) b/c I thought that might be the case. According to that zip code on cablevisions site, SciFi is part of the Family Cable package. Not that I doubt you, it is very possible that cablevision's site is wrong.
Well the person I was responding to said they had cablevision. Also looking at comcasts website, they list SciFi as part of their Basic Package in Jersey City.
Well I'm in Jersey and get Sci-Fi on the basic family teir for $48/month. I have lived in multiple locations in Jersey and Sci-Fi was always availible in the Family Cable tier. Remember, despite what the CSRs tell you, you don't need to get Digital Cable. You can still hook a cable wire directly up to your TV to get most channels.
Commercial Skip (also known as Commercial Advance) is a feature that automatically detects commercials and skips over the entire commercial break without user intervention. This has been on some VCRs for years and used to be availible on ReplayTVs (till the got sued and had to remove it).
The point of PVRs is to filter through the mass of media and find the stuff that only interests you at your own schedule. By having a PVR it allows to you read books, play UNO, throw frisbees to your dog, or go to the neighborhood sports bar. And you can still watch the programming you want to watch without concern about missing anything.
Also, as a sports fan, I still go to bars to watch Football (or to the stadium), but I still record the game so I can watch it later in the week to dissect the plays and performance of my team. Of course, I might just be a little too obessessed..
ReplayTV got sued over Automatic Commercial Advance, it skipped over all of the commercials without user intervention. What the OP was talking about was a 30 second skip that would allow you to skip 30 seconds with each button press. Also, the later models (5500 series) replaced Automatic Commercial Advance with ShowNav, which just allows you to press one button to skip an entire commercial break (assuming the ReplayTV identified the commercial break correctly).
Also note that the major part of the suit against ReplayTV was their Internet Video Sharing feature. This allowed replay users to send shows to other replay users over the internet. It was slow, but it worked. It is debatable if they would have gotten sued without IVS and just ACA (Considering there were already VCRs on the market with ACA).
Not according to wikipedia:
A buffalo is one of several species of bovine. It includes:
* members of the Asian genus Bubalus -- the water buffalo, the anoa and the tamaraw (sometimes referred to as true buffalo).
* a member of the African genus Syncerus -- the Cape buffalo (or African buffalo).
* a North American member of the genus Bison -- the American Bison (or buffalo).
That hybrid civic gets a heck of alot more built in features than the 14k regular civic. You can really compare then equally. You have to at least go to the LX model with front side airbags to draw a comparison. Which is around $16k. The EX, which the hybrid share some features with runs about $18k. Certainly the hybrid is still more expensive, but comparing to other models with similar features make s it more reasonable.
Well one advantage to Sony is that by making the PS3 the router, they could ensure bandwidth is availible for online game play through QoS. That way your P2P downloads don't interfere with your online game.
I have a treo 650 on cingular and my experience is that the EDGE connection tops out at 130kbps (it is typically around 100kbps). This is in the Northern NJ/NYC area.
One advantage this has over TiVo's model is that they have no hardware costs (nor related hardware R&D costs) for the product. Which means they probably need a much, much lower subscriber base to cover their costs.
Although, I wouldn't be surprised to start seeing them putting together some pre-fabricated MythTV boxes for the masses.
Women have faces? Never noticed.

Dell = No Bluetooth, No DVD Burner, No Gigabit Ethernet, 20GB less HD space, No built in webcam & much worse graphics.
While I still think that Apples are priced highly, you do get alot of features built into the system.
ugly women do a few things that beautiful websites tend to (not do)???

And it didn't affect my ability to learn windows later in life and get a job for a company that uses primarily windows desktops.
So the US can't have nuclear reactors? ;)

The laws vary by state. While many states have that type of, some still have the hard-line 18 year-old cutoff.

I was gonna post the exact same thing. I would be curious how much produttivity is lost just by posting this story about lost productivity.
