1. Obama will engage in diplomacy with Iran, and hopefully in covert ways with Hezbollah, Hamas, and the nationalist Iraqi forces... killing more muslims with western weapons isn't helping.
Guarantee you he will be back pedaling on this in the coming weeks. Also, the surge that Obama was opposed to initially, he now admits was a complete success.
2. His Administration will sweep out the Bush/Reagan Administration, while McCain would probably keep a lot of it. That's worth my vote right there.
Ideological difference. I won't argue with you here, as I'm unlikely to change your mind as to whether this is goodor bad.
3. Obama does not pander to Jerry Falwell or any of his imitators. It's America, so he has to recognize the religious element, but he doesn't associate with the fundamentalist nutcases. Nothing wrong with the Hollywood fringe or racist extremist element like Jeremiah Wright of course.
4. Obama has shown his distaste of the Bush and Clinton Dynasties. Change is good.
Obama has pissed all over these "dynasties" strictly for political purposes. He's already come crawling back to the Clinton's for help in his campaign. And if he kicks out all of the Clinton democrats, who's he going to be left with?
McCain, has not changed. He did have to pander to the right, just like Obama had to pander to the far left, in order to win in their respective primaries and secure donations. It's the media that has largely turned on McCain, and is so in the tank for Obama, it took an SNL skit for any of them to realize it.
$2500 a month is a lot, and the vast majority cannot afford this. This is the reason, why so many employees are upset about this. Only the higher up exec. types can get their kids in. More info can be found here
The GP was implying that a pair of quality shoes, and a quality bed are not always part of a fashion show. A pair of quality shoes will cost more than a $20 pair at payless. They'll also last much longer. The difference is very noticable if you're an active individual, on your feet or walking around all day.
Likewise with a quality bed, you're paying for comfort. People don't often brand-name drop with beds. Same with the cookware, that the GP mentioned. People who cook often will swear by quality wares.
Granted there are plenty of instances where the difference between a $20 pair of jeans and a $100 pair is just the label, but that's not the case everytime. There are people willing to spend a premium on an item to get more quality, rather than just wanting to show off. Though there are instances where the two intersect(Apple consumers I'm looking in your direction).
Furthermore, it's funny and ironic that you would lambast the GP for wanting to "show-off" his designer handbag and sneakers, when you're doing exactly that with your super-mod pc:
My Deathstar PC is for *me and my guests* to look at and enjoy.
Well, the main point of my post, was to relay info that I got from a knowledgable doctor. Mainly that the chances of actually developing cervical cancer from the virus is way overblown, and that the drug manufacturer, sure has a lot to gain by scare-mongering and getting all females to get this vaccine.
I recently went to a doctor, and talked with her at length about the HPV virus and cervical cancer. The doctor kind of rolled her eyes and was annoyed at the whole thing, since very few cases of HPV lead to cervical cancer, and that it's all a big scare tactic by the drug manufacture to pimp their latest greatest vaccine. In short all the commercials and alarmist media coverage, just feed into their campaign to get girls vaccinated for a very small threat. In fact, it only vaccinates against a few strains and is causing some nasty side effects in some people.
1. Joker tossed her out the window in order to make his escape, as he was getting manhandled by Batman. So he just left right afterwards. It's not like there was anyone in the room who could have stepped up to stop him.
Where do you get your statistics from? If it's anecdotal evidence then you are a racist hiding behind a mask of decrying political correctness. Statistically, poor white people commit just as many crimes per capita as darker folk. Blacks and hispanics on average tend to be poorer than white and asians. One hundred+ years ago you would be posting this complaining about the high crime rate among the Irish and Italians.
By your "logic", Edison would have been a "genius" for buying an electric light bulb from someone else who built one.
Yes, he would have been a genius if the person he bought the lightbulb from didn't market it. He wouldn't be regarded as a genius in the regard of inventor, but shrewd nonetheless.
Another bit of common knowledge here in the valley, is the vast majority of google's products(google maps, picassa, blogger, etc), weren't developed in-house, but were from acquisitions. A more complete list can be found here.
That google lowballs people as well. You only hear this from employees; don't believe what the phony fluff article pieces would have you believe.
It makes sense though, that companies like Apple and Google pay less. Because they can! It's essentially supply and demand. They have strong name recognition and are touted as desirable places to work. As such, they have a glut of applicants, and can thus pick and choose and lowball at their discretion.
Whereas other companies here in the valley that don't have as strong a geek cred. has to offer a strong salary to attract talent.
One more factor to consider is the perks. Those free organic meals and other benefits aren't free you know.
Since when do people at the top pay less taxes? The more you earn the higher percentage of taxes you pay. That's what tax brackets are. Next year, file your own taxes(if you work, which given your comment is a stretch). The rich get gouged more than anyone when it comes to taxes.
Yeah, that was my initial impression in watching it, that it didn't have many funny moments, if any at all. It was however a really great piece of sci-fi. I don't think a time travel story so convoluted was ever pulled off so well or tightly before.
Because Florida is a Swing State

The original embargo was based on the privatization of primarily American business interests. The Cuban Government effectively stole billions from American investors. Obviously the affiliation with the Soviets did not help. So since the Soviet Union has dissolved, why does it prevail? The simple reason, that there are many anti-Castro ex-Cubans residing in Florida, and Florida as we all know is a swing state. It would be political suicide for anyone in power to suggest removing the embargo and pissing of a(significant enough) chunk of the Sunshine State. The idea being, to leave well enough alone. And then there is obviously political rhetoric involved, not wanting to appear soft on Communism/Socialism. There just isn't enough incentive there for the right or left, to stir the pot.
The voice was done by Mike Judge. It's more or less an impersonation of Danny Trejo's voice. Just watch King of the Hill, Mike Judge does the voice of Dale Gribble's right-hand-man Octavio.
Well, if you work here in the valley, it's no secret that google has been hiring dev and QA people with Mobile experience like mad as of late. They have enough talent with plenty of experience to get their mobile OS off the ground.
Indeed, children these days are clearly lacking in theology and geometry. Their lack of logic and materialistic endeavors casts doubt upon their very souls! I would regale you with some astute philosophical musings from Boethius, however Lady Fortuna's wheel has spun me downwards and my closed valve is causing me to bloat. To the lavatory I go to seek respite!
You are correct that most of America's wealth is service oriented. But the GDP numbers don't lie. We produce far more than any other country. Commensurate with the energy we consume.
Right down the street from Google in fact in Mountain View. I drive past both of the campuses almost everyday. I would imagine the submitter got offers from Google, and for the MS campus here in Mountain View.
You got that right. My girlfriend is hooked on the game. Also, when I have a buddy come over with his girlfriend, it's not uncommon for his lady to be better at the game than he is. It helps alot if you have rhythm.

Wrong, here is some more info on this.

Like people have already said, just not feasible for energy use.

Because there are people greedy and/or dumb enough to pay in, that think they can consistently beat the market?

Nor did I. I never watch TV in fact.

Actually more a of graduate of the Satire Academy, drawing from the works of John Kennedy Toole.

Yes, the United States consumes more per capita. But we also produce more per capita also. Simple Economics 101.
