  1. Re:Afraid of GameCube? on Resident Evil 5 In The Works · · Score: 1

The GameCube has the same online capabilities as the original PS2. What the hell is stopping EA or any other company from making an online capable GC game? Certainly nothing in the hardware.

Nintendo is only now starting to learn that they have to BRIBE third-party companies to make games for their system. Sometimes the bribe involves using Nintendo characters or licenses, and sometimes they have to pay 65% of the cost of a development studio and publish games like they did for Square-Enix.

    They are learning.

  6. Re:If you read the article... on Nintendo Revolution May Alienate Third Party Developers · · Score: 3, Insightful

That will really depend on how the big software companies react in the near future.

I disagree. Nintendo will make enough good games to make the console worthwhile. With that in mind, it will depend on the consumers. If more choose the revoloution, the industry will shift that way.

Unfortunately, it seems game companies prefer staying with what worked in the past and not try new things... otherwise, we'd see much more third party games on the DS

You will see more third-party games. Developers simply can't port their previous code to the DS as easily as they can for the PSP. So a lot of derivative games are coming out more quickly for the PSP. The DS is likely to have more than twice the user base of the PSP for quite some time. Third parties like money, and plenty of them are signed on.

    Tiger Woods
    Asphult Urban
    Zoo Keeper
    WarioWare Touched!

    SpiderMan 2
    Robots
    Ping Pals

Out by the end of March:
    Yoshi's Touch and Go
    Pokemon Dash
    Rayman DS
    Atari Classics

That's 18 not including the Metroid demo or Pictochat. There are plenty of releases in April too. We'll see how many of those 24 PSP games meet their release dates. Gran Truismo went gold before it's 3 month delay. Even Rayman DS was supposed to be a DS launch title.

And yet Nintendo's games are infinitely more fun and rewarding than anything Square produces. Also, I would never call games with eye-candy "rewarding" because they have good graphics or lots of content.

As a person who typically dislikes traditional RPGs, there was a time I would have agreed with you. But Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced and Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles (played with 4 friends) dropped the traditional "eye-candy" cutscenes and showed they can make very engaging gameplay.

I have a very short attention span, and these games hold my interest. I have far more respect for Square now than I did 2 years ago.
