The virus downloads the anti-virus software from a predefined location that he controls. Thus, he would only need to update that software to exclude his new virus, and the old virus would automatically pick it up, so there wouldn't be a conflict.
So...millions of people played the game and enjoyed it. Hence, they think it's 'good'. Is there really anything wrong with that? Is he telling people they shouldn't have enjoyed the game? That they should have been so snobbish to rant about the inconsistent art direction instead of actually playing and enjoying the game?
Maybe they are hoping that OSDL will turn down their offer? Then, suddenly, OSDL is "scared" to admit that MS products are better and scared of the truth that the study will bring to light, at least according to Microsoft's new add campaign.
Is the Live-CD based off of any well-known distrobution? It would be neat if it was a repackaged version of Knoppix or some such, so that we know all the hardware detection would work.
While we're comparing Gentoo and Slackware, I might as well add my 2 cents. I've been using Gentoo for a couple of years now, and even after going through several fresh installs, it always seems to get cluttered up when different ebuilds decide to install, say, games in different directories. They could be in/opt/ or/usr/local/ or whatever else is fashionable at the time. I'm guessing that Slackware has a lot more consistency across the entire install. Gentoo is, in theory, great, but you can't tell me it's fully mature and ready for everyone. I am actually going to try out Slackware as soon as I get my new laptop.
Besides, editing a few config files by hand is fine for me if I at least know where they are.
"...the amount of heads that will roll in the process will make the french revolution look like a cakewalk in comparison."
No...people died in the French Revolution...this is just shuffling money around.
Yea, I got the joke, but lets put things in perspective here.
That's really only true with popular music.
Popular musicians write music that the greatest number of people will enjoy, hence a larger profit.
However, if you interview Deerhoof or Xiu Xiu, they will tell you that they know they only have a very small audience, and they don't mind that they aren't making millions of dollars off of their music.
The most intelligent indie artists could probably make billions writing pop songs, but they choose to work on their art instead.
If you actually read pitchforkmedia.com, you'll see that the highest rated albums are the ones that innovate the most, that bend old genres, create new ones, and break all formulas. The lowest rated records are those that knock off established artists and pander to the general public (i.e. not critics)
Perhaps, but it would certainly still be easy to circumvent. I don't even have my browser setup to play movies, but even if it was, how hard would it be to ask the user if they want to play the movie?
philanthropist? more like his giant secret safe was overflowing. i mean, sure he tried to save space by giving out multi-million dollar tips in restaurants, but theres no way you can safely store that much money without creating a fire hazard.
Have you ever taken a fucking history class?
"bla bla bla, if we give the masses power, then there's gonna be lots of revolutions and so on so fourth".
where the hell do you think the modern world came from? do the French/English revolutions mean anything to you? without all the "anarchy" you would still be donating 90% of your home grown wheat to the aristocracy. and you can forget that fucking computer you happily type away at.

Uh, since when do roman numerals count as "weird shit"? Since the No Child Left Behind act?

Wasn't it just a few years ago that 'experts' predicted that console games, not PC games, would disappear?
Is the Live-CD based off of any well-known distrobution? It would be neat if it was a repackaged version of Knoppix or some such, so that we know all the hardware detection would work.
And....I've had numerous problems with hardware detection and configuration with Ubuntu, and none with Knoppix.
So, your advice may be correct, but it works both ways.

No.
Get it? I'm a troll? Hahahaha...
Well at least it was better than the parent's joke.

Metal? Variation? Maybe if you consider variation to be cramming every chord and riff the guitarist knows into every single song.
