You are the winner of the "First Post about Microsoft/Windows in a story that has nothing to do with it" award for this thread!
Amazingly, you managed to make a joke about Windows crashing, which is of course, really, really funny! In fact, it's so funny, you have been awarded with several funny moderations! Just to let you know how funny and original you really are!
Please, enjoy your prize and fame you will have earned as a result of your really funny Windows joke!
Let the gov and taxes pay to built the network and then use our wireless connections and software to use the free network.
Why does this statement remind me of that woman on the Donahue show who stood up and said something to the effect of "Why do they always want to make the taxpayer pay for things? The government should pay for them!"
I mean they just pulled Cosmo off their shelves because it was too tittilating.
They didn't pull it, they simply moved it or covered the cover. So what? Who wants to read (or their kids to read) big blazing titles like "WHAT HE REALLY WANTS IN BED!!!" when checking out. Big deal.
I think that is exactly what is happening. My wife and I are Verizon customers on their family plan. Our phone numbers start with the same first 8 numbers (including area code) but end in two different numbers. We both have received some sort of spam in Spanish from a hotmail address. It looks like they are just sending spam to the equivalent email address for our phones. And each one costs $.02 to receive. However, I believe I get to see who the message is from before receiving and being charged.
... this is going to be a huge boost for RFID's. I don't think most realize the huge amount of sway that Wal-Mart has in both the American economy and the World economy in general. They are a huge company: the first retailer to ever become the biggest company in the world. They should change the old saying to "As goes Wal-Mart, so goes the world..."
I think its main feature is that its first memory card small enough to fit up your kid's nose.
Funny you should mention this, but the xD card that came with my new digital camera had a warning about keeping away from children because of its size.
The other advantage of xD (I hear) is that it has a higher theoretical limit on size. I believe they will be able to grow to 8 gig.
True, maybe I over-generalized in saying that ZIP+4 resolves to a house - it does not ALWAYS resolve to a house, but it frequently DOES.
This one statement almost completely sums up most of what is wrong with the mentality of Slashdot. You have one experience where ZIP+4 resolves to your house and your house only, so you generalize it to mean that it does for everyone. When people point out that it does not for everyone, you retract your statement, only to replace it by another one in which you no data. If you see some of the other posts here, linking to the USPS web site, you will see that for most people, it does not link to a particular house.
Would that be a CD player ? or did your DVD player catch a cold and never fully recover in its life ?
No, he's saying that his DVD player can only play VCD's and not SVCD's. I don't know of any CD Players that can play VCD's or SVCD's, do you? Most CD players I've seen only play music CD's.
hint : you can pick up a decent DVD player for $30.
I must admit it is much more difficult to search my 3l1t3 h4x0r 0-d4y w4r3z s1t3s when the products from M$ are.NET and C# and XP and... (to be continued...)
I so hope you are joking. You can download the.Net framework, which includes the VB.Net, C# and a C++ compiler from Micrsoft for free.

Does Microsoft market their handling of private members in a class as a way to improve product security?
At first sight you might get worried about an infinity of things in themselves infinite, but to deal with this you have to draw on a body of mathematics called transfinite number theory, that goes back to Cantor in the 19th century. Just as many kinds of pure mathematics have already been taken over by physicists, this rather arcane subject of transfinite numbers is now becoming relevant, because we've got to think of infinities of infinity. Indeed, there's perhaps even a higher hierarchy of infinities: in addition to our universe being infinite, and there being an infinite number of possible laws of nature, we may want to incorporate the so-called many worlds theory of quantum mechanics.
Why does this sound so familiar?... Oh, I know, it sounds like the arguments I used to have with my brother:
Me: You're an idiot Brother: Well, you're an idiot times infinity. Me: Oh yeah? Well, you are an idiot times infinity times infinity!
You were modded as funny, but I think your post was more insightful. I read the brief description for this review 4 times before I undesrtood what the guy was talking about. How exactly does one ask a yes/no question and then give a multiple choice answer?
I have a theory that people who live in the suburbs hate everyone. They do their best to avoid all human contact.
Ok, let me help you out here then. You are wrong. I live in a suburb. I don't hate everyone. I don't try to avoid human contact. In fact, I don't even own an SUV *gasp*
So I like a big yard and a nice sized house? Does that mean I hate people? Not at all. I enjoy a little space, but for the most part, I know all of my neighbors, I spend time with other people, and generally enjoy life. Does this make me an evil capitalist pig? Fine.
IMHO, the real problem is the way people treat one another... and I don't know how to fix that.
For a most insightful comment. I like the entitlement attitude of the original poster:
... while those who purchase are forced to suffer
Oh woe is me! I now have the option of renting a movie and don't have to return it! I am so oppressed! I suffer so! Oh those nasty corporations hook me on their entertainment from my childhood so I have no choice but to consume their videos in near-perfect digital quality in my own home! And I must pay for this! Oh woe is me!
You really have no idea what you are talking about do you? Do you honestly think fair use means that you have the right to a complete and perfect digital copy of the original movie? No, fair use is about using portions of a copyrighted work for certain purposes, of which the DMCA, DVD and CSS do nothing to impede.
I have issues with the DMCA, but not in regards to fair use.
Congratulations!

Just to nitpick some more, I believe it is $179 now (along with the PS2)
I love the caption under the photo:
It reads like it's from The Onion or something.
They didn't pull it, they simply moved it or covered the cover. So what? Who wants to read (or their kids to read) big blazing titles like "WHAT HE REALLY WANTS IN BED!!!" when checking out. Big deal.

Good, I was wondering when Linux was going to enter the "surver" market.
Ooooh, I missed that. What was that about?
Yes, how about one. Do you suppose me to believe that??
Sure, a link. That would just be so easy, wouldn't it.
As opposed to a poor example? Do you think we would assume that you meant to exclude poor examples by just asking for an example?
Again, pure ridiculousness.
Or two, or three, or four even.
Capitalize the man's name, for goodness sake! Bah!
Only if it's illegal to say that drinking a certain type of beer is going to get you more women.

Um, what? Where? How do you define "decent"?
Ah, Star Control II. One of the three games I've actually played all the way through.
I thought the anti-Microsoft sentiment was bad, but not this bad. The law is called the "NET Act", not the ".NET Act".
I so hope you are joking. You can download the .Net framework, which includes the VB.Net, C# and a C++ compiler from Micrsoft for free.
No. Thank you for playing though.

You know, it did come off as rather venomous. I guess I was in a fouler mood this morning. :-)

Here's a hint: start with yourself.
... but "The Stakes are Open"? What the hell does that mean?
