Really? Point out the end user who wont mind if they select an application, pay for it, install it, have Apple change their mind an remove it from their computer. Or point out the end user that wont mind "there's no App for that" as a response to a search for a given task specific application.
Users mind. Apple can only treat them this way for so long before there's a backlash.
Taking out telegraph lines, signal towers, killing messengers. DoS attacks have existed as long as people have tried to communicate over distances. Even man in the middle attacks, intercepting and replacing semaphore messages etc.
Featuring an easy to learn lift and turn interface, people can pick up a Book and just start reading! And Book has been specifically designed to interoperate with your existing Shelves(tm).
I want to like the ipad, but without enough storage to use as a media player, a crippled web browser, no hardware keyboard for office apps and such limited developer access I really cant think of a use for it.
I'd say they both belong in school text books. But if schools ever offered the comparative religion class that I think they should people would throw a fit the likes of which we've never seen.
If someone's general location is not protected by the 4th amendment, lets see a web site that shows the "general location" of all federal employees. Seems only fair.
There is nothing intrinsic to a cloud of computers that makes them any different then the internet in general. Anything that makes use of unprotected computers on the internet will make use of a cloud as well. In fact, from a logical perspective, the internet is a cloud. Its just that access is generally curtailed in some way.
Or till there's a cross platform standard format. If I have the option of using an e-book on my cell phone, laptop, desktop, pda etc without having to purchase a half dozen different versions I'm all for it. But buying a file that only works on one device seems like a bad idea.
It would be kinda nice if they where required to get the sign off of a judge before submitting a pre-settlement offer. But thats just not how civil cases work. More's the pity, but often the defendant in a civil case needs to go to court and ask for a dismissal if the person leveling the suite has no actual grounds. Just doing so can cost a fair amount, so it boils down to "pay us or we'll sue you can it'll cost more".
Sorry. We geeks playing World of Warcraft would not be engaged in killing each other if not for the game. WoW is the low tech equivalent of jumping out from behind a rock with a stick and shouting "bang bang!". And the WoW forums are the equivalent of "I shot you your dead! Am not!" arguments.
In most cases, the "lines" (optical etc) are paid for with tax payer dollars. If the telecos cant play nice, we're just going to have to take our toys and go home.
They can't in my case. Even if they could, it wouldn't be allowed by the contract and I could throw a fit and file a law suite. All I get from my cell phone provider is a SIM card. That is the extent of their hardware. If I want to change providers, I just change cards. And since the unlocked models of most high end phones are tri-band, I can even do that in another country without any issues.
However, needing to manually do firmware updates can be a hassle. But I think its worth it.
"Does it honestly need to be anything more beyond a giant iPod Touch?"
For close to a grand, yes it does need to be more.

What I want to know is where you're supposed to put all your spells with such limited storage options.
Good times, but how the mighty have fallen these days. I for one miss the idea of a pure research group.
Oh, well if YOU don't want the app then clearly no one ever would and Apple is right to remove it.
Its a better idea then the refried beans turned out to be.
Right? Why's everyone laughing?

The Day Star burns us, we dont care that it can recharge our toys. We're still not going outside.

There's an e-book market?

There's a small worm hole from the local Taco Bell leading to Mars.
Come on... Kentucky isn't THAT bad. And I dont think they where ever that good at math.

I should get my patents in now!

I own all my cell phones. But then I pay around 400$ for an unlocked model direct from the maker.
We were never here. We were, and remain, figments of your deranged imagination.
