The problem I think is that there isn't a process that covers this. In many cases there are no papers you can file against a web site owner wihtout knowing who they are.
Perhaps we need some new civil laws dealing with the conditions underwhich an ISP must provide customer information.
"Fine, file a lawsuit, have the court issue a subpoena. Even civil law has processes to follow. Just because it's Big Business going around rounding up people doesn't make them any less of a vigilantee than the "good ol' boys" going out with their whiskey and guns to "get that feller"."
You cant file a suit against a "jon doe" in many cases. You need at least a name. Often you need to serve the person with papers so you need to know who and where they are.
I agree that there is a legal process to follow. But at the same time I cant help but be pissed at the people who take the attitude that if its on the internet they are untouchable.
So you think there should be no such thing as a civil law suit? Or do you think that its the job of the police to deal with things such as slander and malpractice?
Copyright violcation is a civil matter.
Look at it this way. If someone setup a web page that listed personal information about you, called you names and had doctored photos of you in secual congress with farm animals. Should you not be able to get the ISP to shut them down and tell you who they are so you can sue?
Ah, my bad. I get all the crap their trying to get passed as law mixed up sometimes.
Still, all they need to do to stop people from trying to record their content is to make it not worth watching even once. Seems to be working well enough.
There is allready a system by which the viewer can block all subject mater that infantile immature and not suitable viewing material. Its called the off button. But then people would have to take responsibility for their own lives rather then having our elected officials do it for them.
I have to say I like palmtop/ultra small notebooks. I have ever since the old IBM 486 systems. However, what realy does this system offer over the Sony VGN-U750P?
Way back "then" P2P was used for nothing but the exchange of bootleged copies of star wars and porn. Now its used to exchange information noble of purpose that will enrich humanity for all time.
Two people apply for a position. Both claim to know what they are doing. Both have the same amount of real world experiance. One has a cert/degree one dosn't. Which one do you hire?
Bad choice of titles, should have avoided the word "hit". I just get this image of a massive car wreck as penguin feathers drift slowly to the ground.
Perhaps "Open Source Autos Released in Spain" or somthing.
At one point I spilled half a tumbler of cranberry juice on my Sony notebook. The fun part however was that I was able to clean it out well enough for it to keep working but every time it started to warm up (as subnotebooks are want to do) it would release a cranberry sented aroma that most people found very pleasing. Makes me wonder if there's a market for sented keyboards.
"Yes, this guy could comit a crime in-game based on the rules (features?) of the game, but what he did is still ethically wrong."
Is it ethically wrong because he used a bot? Becuase this is somthing that happens all the time within the game in question. The only diference here is that someone automated the process. The game allows, even encourages virtual muggings. The terms of use and the laws in question do not disallow the resale of virtual property. So please explain what was done wrong.
What the hell where you thinking with the Darkmoon Fair? Can I at least get an epic t-shirt that says "I went to the Darkmoon Fair and all I got was this stupid Jubling"?
Wireless network technology, compromising your network at faster speeds every day.
I kid you not, I cant turn on my notebook without it auto connecting to the law firm upstairs that seems to have a wide open coast to coast WAN. I can see networks in just about every major US city. Whats more it looks to me like this is just an access point some yahoo hooked up so he wouldn't need to plug in his notebook every day. Could be that their IT peopele dont even know about it.
The idea behind this check was to catch retail outlets selling pirate copies of Windows to customers. The only reason I can think of that you would be against this is if you where selling such merchandise.
As for the rest of you, if you think Windows is so bad, why pirate it?
Its one for each buddy per session. You click on the logs button and it opens the log in what ever your default text editor is. Then you use that to search.
I for one hate IM due to the abbreviated "1337" speak used in it. I also hate having to search back through the Trillian logs looking for somthing someone said weeks ago.
Yes. But then I'm not an amoral schmuck.

Information about you buggering chickens wants to be free!

Interestingly enough the site was called Web Weasel the first time around but it turns out that name is trade marked by a universisty in the mid west.

The odds of these "missing" scenes making a bad movie good are slim to not. I have enough beer coasters and dont need to pay 50$ for another.

Or it could still be the porn thing.

Or is that too small a business?
(yes I program with this monstrosity of a system)
Your right! We must put a stop to this movable type menace before the serfs use it to spread anti authoritarian pamplets!

Its just a text file. Search it however you like.
