    I use Wine to run Kazza Lite and WinMX, you should do this. WinMX can be a bitch to configure but if you have a Windows 98 box then just copy the correct dlls from the Windows system directory to your Wine system directory.

    You missed the point, the vulnerability is a big one and doesnt involve the final user.

    As you may already know many companies use PDF to realse secure documents, this companies are confident that adobe security will keep the document as read only so no llama will make changes for fun or copy paste their info.

    But then we have this vulnerability where you can load a custom plugin in secure mod, this plug in could use all the privileges a secure plug in has, like for example saving an unencrypted version of the file or, why not, a pain text copy.

    This sound like a big vulnerability to me, but companies that use Acrobat are the ones that should be angry.

    Just use familiar with opie. You'll be happier, and have more spare change to buy things that matter.

    I dont know what do you use your handhled for but i think GPE is much better than Opie, it runs inside the mini X server so you can do a lot of leet stuff like running Xine and Snes9x for Linux.

    I read it all and found it quite intersting, is about this fuckhead that use a voodoo doll in Lambda MOO forcing two girls to sexual acts.

    What is intersting about it all is the cyber-society aspect of the rape and how the players managed it and strated to discuss some kind of social order inside the game.

    And yes, is over-dramatized, but intersting anyway.

    With all the evidence we got so far i almost give the idea of life in mars as a fact, but I dont think thats exactly surprising. What I would like to find out its if there is conscientious beings somewhere else in the universe, the conscience is even more strange than life itself.

Its ok if people dont understand now what he is saying, they dont need to, a lot of persons reading such an strange theory (to current common knowledge) is enough to do good for civilization. Is not like they are going to be in charge of a nuclear reactor, so why in the first place are you whining?, this kind of "for common folks" inspired documents are good to introduce ideas to the base culture, maybe it wont be undertood until 2050, but thanks to documents like this, that little by little introduce new ideas, it will be undertood some day.

    So, without prolonging more this stupid thread of yours, my guess is that you think you are way too special with your selfish elitist crap.

    You are wrong, some of their code is copyright so (as you could read in their site like everyone else) when you download WineX from the CVS portions of the code are missing and bad patched, from my experience sound wont work at all with CVS sources.

    From Transgaming site:
    Pre-built packages of WineX contain components licensed from third parties, and may not be redistributed in whole for any reason.

    But is not like im bitching about it, Im a TransGaming suscriber, is not expensive and at least i know im helping to keep the project running, i mean, i play Counter Strike without any problem, worth the $5 per month.

    I visited the FirebirdSQL site and read all the information about the project there, and they always call the proyect "FirebirdSQL": The website logo, the sections, everywhere!.

    i dont what does FirebirdSQL users think, but i wont get confused with "FirebirdSQL" and "Firebird", Why should we start a fight between two open source projects?

    Man, i got scared and called my brother who is a mexican lawyer.

    He told me that this likely wont happen anytime soon, it seems Mexican congress is always proposing stuff that never comes out, he said there are another strange things in the congress table like making mariguana legal and small skirts illegal, so hopefully this bullshit will stay as a proposal forever.

    *Sigh*. Being from Mexico i use to feel sorry for you when read about the DMCA and Patriotic acts, but now (after someone pointed it out) I wonder what is worst.

    I mean, can we trust the source of this notice?, my brother is a lawyer and always told me about stuff like this.

    If this is true then i guess there is no turning back, no one will protest about copyrights stuff when 90% of the population needs the most basic services like water and energy.

    Anyway... Just think for a second... Doesnt that send this to all your fiends bullshit sounds a little too familiar?, for me it sounds like a viral email scam, why im not surprised its in Slashdot frontpage? ;)

    Im from México, and guess what, I laugh everytime I see that "Welcome to the land of freedom" bullshit that welcomes you to the USA.

    Say whatever you want, I can reverse engine al the crap I want and dont need to worry about the DMCA, Patriotic Acts or any other thing like that, USA is proud of the liberty slogan, but as we say here "el gobierno los tiene de los huevos".

    I disagree with your example. they arent taking something physically, its like having some dude walk in to your store with a camera, taking a picture of prices on your menu, and leaving. You have the menu, you expect people to look at it, comes with the territory.

    You are not used to IT stuff, right?, bandwidth has physical form, is not like your computer can connect to a server magically just because you want it to, first you need to stablish a physically connection using several hardware that belongs to someone who pays the bills.

    it's not "stealing". It wouldn't even be "stealing" if this information was worthy of copyright. HOWEVER, the fact remains that this information is NOT worthy of copright protection.

    But, its not just about the information, they are accessing their hardware using their bandwidth ignoring the agreement. Its the same thing spamers do that make everyone here yell. Funny how people can change their opinion when the afected is a for-profit company.

    I can open a restaurant and give menus away so my clients can order by phone, but if a fellow comes every day and takes a menu of mine just to copy the precies to his own menu I would never give one to him again, is my damn right after all since are my menus I printed in the paper i bought with the ink i bought, same with bandwidth.

    When you are spending a lot of money and resources to make information available to your vistors, what right do anyone has to steal that information (along with your visitors)?

    Seriously, i like free speach and all but if stealing where legal there wouldn't be anything to steal at all.

    The conscious mind wont always remember things no matter what do you do to the hippocampus, its proved that most people remember much more than they think but is hidden in the unconscious and only comes out with symbols, that could be images, smells, or particular sounds. This could happen if the memory is painful or just cant be interpreted in the world of the conscious, being the last one most common, or so I read.

    We don't understand the brain enough to even think on things like this, obviously the hippocampus can record more than you think, you just don't know it was recorded.

    I cant wait to put my hands on that baby, i know, is an ugly one but would be very intersting to look the sources. This make me wonder, with all the security issues that Windows has isnt a bit dangerous to give the source to only one country who could find several bugs and holes by looking at the codes?, isnt it scary?, say bye-bye to Windows on sensitive servers.

    I think you are wrong, Zaurus runs Qtopia on top of Linux, if you install Linux by yourself in some odd handheld like an IPaq you would probably install Opie on top of Familiar Linux since Opie is very clean by now. GPE isnt there yet but is moving fast and its lincesed with our favorite viral license, GPL. =D

    Opie, Qtopia and GPE are the KDE/Gnome of the handheld Linux world, its not only about the windows and graphics, you can build software with GPE API's that will need to be ported to other GUI in order to work just like happens with KDE and Gnome.
