Consider a comparable situation. For example, let the US invade Cuba. Different history, economics, people. The US leadership would likely not accomodate the Cuban needs.
The US has already ruled Cuba. The rule happened from 1898 (end of the Spanish-American War) to 1902, although the US butted in Cuban affairs until 1959. Read more here.
In Virginia, you are asked when you register to vote if you:
Are A US Citzen
Are A Virginia Resident
are 18 years of age or older
have never been convicted of a felony
have never been judged mentally incapacitated.
IANAL, but I read this to mean that you can't disenfranchise someone who reads the ballot too fast and makes the wrong choice or gets confused by a badly designed ballot, as some slashdotters have interfered.
That's really a stretch. In most places in the US, water is put into the hands of agencies who citzens pay for the privlege to use the water. The closest thing to "free" water is private wells. However, by the time you pay to dig the well and get the permits, the water might as well not be free.
First off, I believe that spamming a politician because they did it to you is counter-productive. It all goes back to that golden rule thingy. I do have a question for the previous poster. Why don't campaigns and politicians use an opt-out mechanism for those who don't want the phone calls, the junk snail mail, and the rest of it?
I call spam based on a small litmus test:
Did I ask for the message?
Is there a way to opt-out of future messages?
If the answers to the above are NO, then it's SPAM. If the SPAM is sent repeatedly, that would make me question my vote for that candidate. I'm sorry to be so harsh, but I have a low tolerance for SPAM. I suspect many other slashdotters do too.
I personally have the Brenthaven Mobility Backpack that I ordered the same time as my iBook. It works well, fits the iBook comfortly with room left over for everything else.
In my mind, there is a difference between the colonists who fought in the Revolution and the people who will form the next Iraqi government. The colonists had experience in how a democratic government worked in the form of the English, the French, the Spanish, and even the Indians. The Iraqi experience has mainly been a dictatorship and monarchies in the form of the British and Ottoman empires.
In summary, comparing the Colonists and the people who will form the new iraqi government is, at best, very shallow.
I don't think spamming the guy into submission will do any good.
I read the article. The reason I chose to switch to OS X was due in part to security. Before buying, I asked my Apple reseller about viruses. I was told the only way to get a virus on OS X would be due to Office macros.
To me, "ISP" is much more narrower. (Take Two)

Did you sleep through civics? The President can't grant pardons to companies (they aren't people) or to people who haven't been convicted of crimes, like Ken Lay. Article 2, Section 2 of the Consitiution says:
While I think that Linus and Alan Cox are doing the right thing by voicing their viewpoints on the patent issue, they are doing it in the wrong way. When I read the letter, Linus and Cox did not ID themselves as the people behind the Kernel. Instead I saw a from two EU citizens concerning the patent issue. If they wanted a fuller impact, they should have written to their local MEP's instead of the whole parliament.
I have learnt this from dealing with my local elected officials.
It's true, if white kids want a decent education they have to be bussed into ghetto schools.
WTF does race have to do with getting a good education? In the years I was in schools, I can say with 99.9% certainty that race had NOTHING to do with the quality of the education recieved. Let me enlighten you with two case studies from my past.
In my Middle School years (for non-USians, that's 6th-8th grade) the school I went to was poor. Thinking back on it, there were many children-black, white, and every hue in between who failed or did not do as well as they could. Who do I blame this on? The fscked up school system I was in.
The last school I attended was better. It had a little bit more in the coffers. I found that blacks, whites, and students in every hue did equally as well. In saying that, there were students of all hues who did badly. Was it because of race. No! It was the students fault.
Bottom line: Education does not depend to what color you are! There are many, many, more factors.

I'm off my sopbox. I'm going to watch Maury Povich now...
I have come to believe that some extreme political speech is SPAM. Before I get moderated down or flamed, let me explain.
During the last election in 2002, I was staying with some family. Almost everyday my uncle got calls from from the campaigns of Elizabeth Dole (the GOP candidate) and Erskine Bowles (the Democratic Candidate). By the end of the week, my uncle was pretty much annoyed by the calls. Until the election date, the calls did not stop.
Now, why do I call this SPAM? It all boils down to two reasons. My uncle did not want the calls and there was no way to opt-out from the calls. Unless campaigns who use email and/or phone solicitation provide a method to opt-out and stick to that opt-out policy, then I am sorry to say, extreme political speech is SPAM.
I think most of/. is missing the rationale of question #2. According to the CA SoS, There are over 100 candidates who have made the ballot. If my thinking is correct, a candidate could win with 25%-30% of the vote. In this case, there are no spoilers.
If LaserMonks is 501(c)(3), then I think it's a write-off. IANAL or Tax expert though!

Mac IE does this as well. In fact, I think Mozilla got this feature from Win IE.

I'm not knocking Safari, it's a really nice, lean browser but its feature set is almost too lean.
The previous poster is on target about how limited Safari prefs are. I'm starting to think that Apple thinks users are scared of preferences.

The Transport Security Administration maintains an allowable and banned items list (PDF) that you might want to check.
The agency who manages airport security is the Transportation Security Administration. Looks like someone goofed here.
