Well hopefully one day it will be possible to enjoy higher resolutions on displays, when SVG and such make it into mainstream desktop operating systems. I'm not certain but I have a feeling that Longhorn (due sometime never) has some support for this.
I'm guessing you've never heard of the cross platform player VLC. It has an excellent interface for Mac OS X (admittedly the one for Windows is ugly) but the main point is that it just plays any videos out of the box. No need to download DivX, XviD, etc. I certainly prefer using it as my main movie player.
If they can improve upon the original game and not taint the memories of it in a bad way, then I'd say it's a good thing. I do remember spending many hours on Jungle & Urban strike (Desert strike got me started but I never bought that)... ahh the Mega Drive ruled.
I totally agree with the above poster as regards the VM implementation on OS X. It uses the native widgets and makes apps look & feel more native than the standard Java VM on Windows. Definately a big plus towards using a Mac ^_^
I would say that they aren't exactly speedy in compiling Java apps. I have noticed that even with small programs they can be compiled quicker on x86. I can't comment on the top of the range models but my 867Mhz G4 12" Powerbook does noticably take longer.
In saying this, I *much* prefer developing on Mac OS X compared to Windows. The document centric layout and general usability of OS X makes the whole process a lot more enjoyable.
At the end of the day I'd go into an Apple store and ask to test one out. Try it with some big project and judge for yourself.
Well over here in the UK phones are much more popular than the other side of the pond. Me and a fair few friends have camera phones & bluetooth and it's fun to swap pictures & ringtones.
With phone to laptop I'd never connect to the net wirelessly as it's just far too expensive. I use my T610 with a new Powerbook and OS X has some very good bluetooth features. Address book allows me to sync my phone with OS X and send SMS messages to people without me having to touch the phone. Also I can control OS X with the Salling Clicker - use it for Powerpoint presentations, changing music on iTunes, moving the mouse, etc. So I have a lot of uses for Bluetooth:)
Bluetooth has never been 'dying' - I really don't know why/. keeps posting this FUD. It's certainly very popular here in UK and is great for transferring files from Phone -> Phone or Phone -> Laptop.
After trying out B85... I must say I'm not all that impressed. For $129 it really should be something special. Don't get me wrong, it has a more responsive GUI and Expose is excellent and the new Finder is a *lot* quicker... it just somehow doesn't feel worth the pricetag that they're asking for it.
Maybe I was hoping for too much for a.1 update but the GUI speed is no where near the speed of Windows (admittedly... it doesnt crash though:) ).
On the Mac version of MSN Messenger (it's okay, not fantastic - slow conversation logging is annoying) you can chose to switch the ads off. Simply uncheck 'Promotional Pane' under the view menu on the toolbar. 'It just works' springs to mind:-)
It would be great to have Half-Life 2 on OS X... HL is the one major game that I wish was on OS X, but thats old now, so it'd be better to plan ahead and make HL 2 available within say 6 months of HL2's release.
the bog standard eMac is £650 here in the UK, with the edu discount its drops £70 to £580... a much larger discount than the US edu one! (equivilent of $110 off!)

How advanced is the SVG support in GNOME?
Adverts are the spawn of the Devil... noooooo don't go ruining BBC programs with adverts!!
How about
:)
www.play.com
they seem to have reasonable prices and for once, show the final price inc shipping rather than one before VAT + Shipping + Additional costs
That's soooo last year, it's quite obvious that the $75 price is from the USA :-P

Hah, that doesn't say much for the USA then ;)

Apple keyboards on the laptops seem to really quiet... I don't know about their desktop ones but maybe someone else could comment?
Why are they using clumsy Infa Red? Why not Bluetooth? I'm sure it'd improve it a lot.
/.er's think.
And no, Bluetooth is not dying like most of the USian

Just my $0.02
Or one step better, a Mac port!! Thats the one game that i'd love to be on OS X...

If you are elected will you make Linux in schools:
a) compulsory
b) mandatory
or
c) obligatory
This has made my day, I played Glider PRO for a bit and thought it was a cool game but a bit aged and not worth buying. But now it's freeware,...
yipeeeee!
I've got a Powerbook 12" and a temperature monitoring app, and my CPU has gone upto a roasting 66C - it still works, and roasts things nicely :)
it had to be said...
who would want a Linux Based Piece Of Shit system?
I've never used Portage before, I have used fink but didn't like it much.... so whats so good about Portage and why should I download it?
Mod the parent up. The truth is hardly flipping trolling!! Just because it makes the USA not sound quite so brilliant it doesn't constitute trolling!
The Powerbook's won't be updated for a while yet, they were only released in January! If you want one that bad, buy one, they are great :)
/me posts using a 12" PB :)
