My employeer will pay for any training I want as long as it is job related; they will also pay for any certifications that I feel like taking job related or not. The other up side to my employeer is that they make me stay in the lab all day except for when one of our users has a problem that requires a deskside visit.
I think everyone should use the http://www.parentstv.org/ptc/fcc/fcccomplaint2.asp Complaint Form on the PTC website to send positive fead back about all of the shows in the PTC worst 10 list to the FCC. If everyone on SlashDot did this we might be able to get the PTC some bad press (it would be bad press as far as they are concerned).
has been able to do this for quite some time via it's frontend/backend style setup. all you need to do is have a friend with a mythtv frontend or backend and have one of either or both yourself and you can watch the other persons shows over the internet.
If the program is available for my favorite distro (Debian) as a package I will use the package. But if there isn't a package available then I use will compile from source. But as most of the other posters have pointed out it also depends on the program and if I am testing it or if it is for a production system. If it is for testing then I take the package over the source if the package is available. But I, like many others here, will usually compile from source if I am going to us the program in a production environment so I can get the pest performance for my system.
Like the parent said, raise your concern that this could hinder your productivity for the reasons that you stated. If they don't go for that then suggest that they give you a company paid for cell phone or pager so that you can receive these messages. In the end they might just find it more cost effective to let you use your own cell phone at work and give you the exemption.
The implementation of a mandatory logon to our corporate instant message client has made my job easier as well as more stressful. It is easier because I can ask a co-worker a question a lot faster with it than if I send him/her an email. But it has also introduced a little stress in my life as the IM server logs when everyone logs in and out of the system thus my boss can track when we get to work and when we leave for the day. If you are a few minutes late he asks you what took so long to get to work, by a few minutes I literally mean 1-2 minutes. The installation of a door badge system at our office has also added to this stress level as he checks these logs also and asks the same questions if you are 1-2 minutes late for work. I have not had to have my boss ask about me being tardy yet but the first day the systems where in a coworker of mine was asked about his tardiness and our boss was not joking with him.
If you read the article M$ has no involvement with Sendmails work on this, they are just a foot note. But if you go to the commercial Sendmail site it says that they are helping to build Yahoo's DomainKey system.
Ghost has always worked for me with Win2K. With XP it is sketchy sometimes, but you just have to make sure you turn off the recovery feature in XP before you make the image. If you are working in a corporate environment I would also suggest getting a corporate license for W2K/XP. Also if you are in a corporate environment I would suggest using M$'s sysprep utility before you make your image. Also make sure you are making your image with Ghost from a bootable floppy with Ghost on it as Ghost will not work from within Win2k/XP.
I use TaxAct personally I don't feel the need to spend $50+ on tax software when I can get my state and federal tax software for $19.95 as a bundle without all the extra stuff that I do not need. TaxACT 2003 Ultimate Bundle from TaxAct.
If SCO keeps doing things like this then they will not have any legal ground left to fight on. I think everyone should just stand by and watch as SCO pulls their lawyers legal ground out from under them and lets see how much of there legal strategy is left when they are done. With some of the supposed copyright infringing code posted to the web earlier that was proven to be public code and now this I don't think they will have much left by months end. IMHO mod done if you don't like it.
By the looks of the updates they have made to the Test Center server it looks as if they have started to listen to everyone. Go here to see list of updates on the test center server. Go here to sign up to play on the Test Center server.
If the code has not changed much then someone could do some sort of search through the code for Linux and the code for one of these ancient Unix's and see if there is any matching code. With any hope the code that SCO has been alluding to, if it exists, is in one of these ancient Unix's and someone will find it and post it to the web somewhere. With all luck it is *BSD code and is available for use anyway. Well if anyone is up for the challange now is the time to start seaarching.
None of the links on the EFF page work, here are some that should work: mcl-750-219a:
Obtaining telecommunications services with intent to avoid charge; violation; separate incidents pursuant to scheme or course of conduct; enhanced sentence based on prior convictions; definitions.
Prohibited conduct with regard to telecommunications access device; violation as felony; penalty; amateur radio service; forfeiture; order; definitions.
The Mozilla Bugs listed in this post are old news because they are from versions previous to 1.0.1 which has been out for a couple of months now. How about we keep the outdated postings to a minimum ok guys.
Mac OSX is not a derivative of Linux, it is a derivative of FreeBSD with a different kernel slide in underneath. Next time you are going to slam someone for using a Mac at least know what you are talking about before you open your mouth.
The IT staff for these towns should get together and offer to upgrade the entire system to Linux or *BSD for free. Since the OS would already be free and the city is already paying the IT workers to work there is no cost at all. But if dune the M$ way NO will have to pay M$ for everything in the long run.
What happens if this earth-shattering discovery is a form of encryption that could never be broken by any computer, either in use to day or in the future, and you encrypt the code for said encryption with said encryption format. What happens to this earth-shattering encryption format when you delete the code for it and forget the password to the encrypted code?

MythTV as a better solutions.
You can use teh DVD Rip feature to store all of your DVD's to your MythBoxen's HDD.

MXM looks exactly like AlienWares Do-It-Yourself Upgradeable Mobile Graphics Technology.

people in the UK always get the cool stuff. We need projects like this in the US.

I still use my floppy drive to update the bios on my computers. If it were not for the floppy then a bios update would not be possible.
