    I am always taken back when I hear about such cases. Back here in Germany there are no rules against destroying evidence against you. We derive this from the fact that "you have the right to remain silent", meaning that no one can be forced to testify against himself. If law enforcement does not prevent the (alleged) destruction of evidence, that is bad luck for law enforcement. On the other hand, search warrants are relatively easy to obtain and the fruit of the poisonous tree is legit in court for all but the most blatant cases, which have to be declared expressively by the judge.

    Well, I do not know about the Netherlands, but in Germany the losing party always pays the winners fees.. Both in civil and in criminal cases.

    OR he is German like myself and has fallen for a pair of "false friends", words sounding similar in English and German, but meaning diffferent things. The German word for "cult" would be "Sekte", wich could account for such a mistake. Much more often cited by English teachers is the difference between "become" and the German "bekommen", wich would translate to "get", whereas "come" and "kommen" are the same.

    While teachers may not have a per se access to the database, I am quite sure there will be ways for those interested to get a look. e.g. will the principal have access?

    The only change is that moving from one local government's area to another doesn't mean those services lose all information.

    This was once called: Getting a clean slate. Now look at this: Consider you have done something wrong at your old schoool. You have been the class clown or something worse. Now you move for some reason. Your new teachers pull up that database and larn all about your former school career. You will be labeled a troublemaker even before you've had the chance to do anything right or wrong, despite your best intentions and all the serious threads from your parents.

    This may be true for you. But in my country, only the head of government is elected by the parliament (not the people) and is then free to appoint his ministers, which the parliament does not need to approve.

    The friendly article mentioned that "people are increasingly unwilling to take out their 'software tweezers' to clean their machines", maybe it's time for manufacturers to install a HardReset button (like in a PDA) with a 1 GB ReadOnly Flash drive, which resets everything back to factory. That would be the first wire to cut in a new machine.

    This will not work, at least not for German Zombies. Let me tell you why: It is customary here to disconnect anyone after 24 hours. Immediate reconnection is possible, but you are very likely to receive another ip everytime you connect. I don't know if this is any different in North America, France or Great Britain, but for Germany Zombies thios aproach is rather useless.

    He got help. I have no idea if he was charged or what the outcome was, but verbalization is a call for assistance. The mere fact that he was looking for help is proof to me that he had not committed any crime yet and was in the clear about how wrong those urges were. Sure, locking anyone up who's looking for help will prevent crimes, so let us all move to a nice comfy prison somewhere!
