I'm running FreeBSD 4.8-RELEASE as a server/router solution. I've talked with linux users about al the amazing features it has and the stability it offers. All of have switched to FreeBSD. If you want to install something, you just look up your port in the ports list, you type: make install distclean, and you are ready. It automatically downloads it from a ftp server, if the first is down, it checks for a mirror site. It checks for all necessary dependencies and installs that too. I started with Mandrake linux and after that i'm in FreeBSD land. Never looked back since. Oh did i mention it has the Unreal Tournament and Quake3 server in the ports? One "make install" away for pure gaming haven for you and all your friends =P
I'm using msn 6.0 and i must tell you, Microsoft did one hell of a job. I'm behind a FreeBSD router/server and now I can voice chat and sendfiles. Everything is working. Without IPMasquerading shit and you know what i tried. I installed msn 6.0 and all my problems were solved. Even the voice quality is beter then i have with my normal phone line.
I play Quake3 and warcraft3 both with team m8's and/or against friends so we can shout eachother to smithereens:) Dont you just love the old rocket in the belly trick and you can laugh and the other one hears it. Nothing can beat that:)
I really donâ(TM)t like stuff that's genetically altered. Why do people keep consuming stuff
if they know they cant handle it.
They rather make it into their own taste:(
then leaving it alone.
I only eat drink natural/bio products that
are not genetically altered in any way.
Most of the time you pay a bit more, but then
I know it's not rubbish.
I F@#$@#-ing need my particularly damn fine cup a coffee (soaking in caffeine)
well it makes sense. If you check the review on gamespot
Where the reviewer gave it a 5.7 and the readers gave it a 8.1
Sounds like something fishy is going on here.
Thx for the tip Senjutsu:)
When i turned on my Zelda: the Wind Waker filled Gamecube on friday evening and turned it off on sunday night, I discovered that i didnt do alot of things i should have done. And seeing the pile of dirty dishes reaching the ceiling was also a big hint. I've been playing console and pc games since pong and I can tell you, it reduced my productivity incredibly. But what else can you do. Those games are just way too cool and entertaining.
I remember those Quake done Quaker days. That was super cool. First record was 19 minutes. And i believe they recently set that to an amazing 12 somewhat secs!!!!
With jumping instead of running.
I still enjoy watching those speed demo's alot.
It's worth installing your old Quake and watch 'm QDQ Project
I've been using FreeBSD for a year now and i always installed mandrake before on my router/gateway box. But since my step to FreeBSD there is no way back. And now 4.8 is released i tried to cvsup from 4.7 to 4.8 and it all worked out without too much hassle.
The only thing that i found quite complicated was the mergemaster part. But after man mergemaster, the handbook, the mailinglist and a handfull of newsgroup posts. I concluded that "mergemaster -ai" was the only thing i needed to do. So that took 1 minute:)
I think it's super cool when you've finally reached the top, you can sent an email or start a chat. What other place can you brag about then being on top of the Mount Everest.
I cant wait for Nokia's/Sega's N-Gage. This will be a mobile phone where you can shove in tiny cartridges with games developed by Sega.
That will own. They want to compete with Nintendo's GBA. I hope this will end Nintendo's monopoly on the handheld market.
Everybody knows that too much of things is bad.
Eating too much hamburgers from Mc D's will prolly give you the same result. I dont see the point in telling this. Ok it's another post on/. so it has some marrit =P
It's all up to the individual: use your head!
Why would Apple choose BSD for OS X.
Because BSD is a rock solid OS. I tried both
Linux and BSD, but i am stuck with FreeBSD because
It's not as clumsy as Linux. Much faster boot times
And you can run alot more on BSD.
You cant run BSD software on Linux for instance.
I really hope people will try and use BSD more.
Yahoo runs on FreeBSD for instance, Linux cant
handle a load like that.
So dont give me that lousy BSD is dead crap:(
Now we dont get antrax filled envelopes, but they'll print some sort of organic killer stamp on the envelope that will come off the moment you touch it and will make the kill...
omg... am i dreaming again;/
hehe but this joke is gettin' really old.
FreeBSD is a big thing so why not give it the attention it deserves.
We dont want articles about every security patch M$ is releasing right?
So why not some attention for this instead.
One thing though, FreeBSD 5.0 RC2 almost ready is A BIT over the top.
That's a pretty good thought.
Leeching there bandwidth but not a fair one.
I am in the online advertising biz myself medialand.nl in Holland Amsterdam.
And normally you buy views on a web site.
The normal price is like 40 bucks per 1000 views (CPM=Cost Per 1000).
And the advertisers buys like 1,000,000 views (do the math) if the are in the porn biz it will most likely be at least 10,000,000 views.
If you have something running that will leech there views they will suffer a great deal. Because they dont reach their target group etc etc...
But the Media buro will have a bad campaign on their hands, because they have a campaign where the views are gone in like 2 days and the clickrate is 0.00001% (normal click rate for a banner is 0.3% for a popup it can even reach 20%).
You'll do a lot of damage to both companies.
Just a boycot or the use of phoenix/mozilla/netscape will do alot of damage too. That's also good for a bigger share of different brouwsers (95% uses ie) *snif*
The mouse will come in 2 flavors:
Genuine leather and vanilla plastic
