  1. Symbian on Motorola To Release Linux and Java-based Phone/PDA · · Score: 1

Wasn't Symbian made by Nokia, Ericcsson, etc.? They're rival companies, so I assume Motorola would stay away from that platform.

Let me try using my detective skills at figuring this out. The group's name is Gobbles, which is a sound turkeys make. Therefore, the group is based in Turkey, which is in the Middle East. And you know what goes on there. I have deduced that Gobbles is a Turkish militant group that has ties to Al Quaeda and that the US Army must invade Iraq.

  5. strange... on What Lawyers Can Learn From Manga · · Score: 1

From what I've seen, it seems like RIAA's lawyers have been influenced by manga and anime. They're basically doing to the consumer what aliens do with their tentacles on japanese school girls.

Because it's not your choice to make. If you honestly want to change the industry, don't buy their shoddy products.

  12. Re:The root cause on The Lik-Sang Saga Continues · · Score: 1

Of course you buy the hardware, but you also buy the software too. Since MOD chips give the ability to play copied gamees, it'll cut into their prime revenue. Why does everyone seem to forget that fact? If Lik-Sang wants to stay out of hot water, I think they should make a mod chip that only allows Linux and other program development only.

Either way, SMS will be cheaper than getting landlines in the Philippines. Most people use mobiles because that's the best option compared to getting a landline. I still think it'll be quite sad for the poorer people, which amounts to a sizeable number.

  16. Wait a minute on Unintended Aural Consequences of MP3 Compression · · Score: 1

but to reduce the data amount, only control signals for a synthesizer programs (called CODEC) get recorded, those are optimized in a way that during rendition the CODEC can reconstruct from these an approximation of the original picture or sound signal that appears as similar as possible for the human conscious perception, but is not identical to the original signal. The danger of this exploitation of human perception flaws is that especially by lossy audio data compression sound portions get destroyed those, although the brain would not pass them to the conscious awareness, are likely necessary for the human hearing's own perpetual calibration. First off, compact discs and any other recording mechanism are lossy to begin with. The actual resolution of actual sounds should be higher than CDs, tapes, records, etc. Based on this "research's" findings, all of these lossy recordings will make you deaf. I think this reasearch is BS and completely sensational in the worst regards.

  17. John Connor on Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines · · Score: 1

  21. Re:Yet another reason... on Retailers Swing DMCA To Stop "Black Friday" Sale Info · · Score: 1

Personally, I don't think the DMCA should be applied to this case. However, someone within these companies were able to leak out the advertisements before their intended release dates. I would find it quite annoying to have many people come to my store and repeatedly ask about a sale price that isn't even in effect. So the people that should be held liable should be the one who leaked it and those who provide them. The ads that were leaked aren't even worth the trouble since they only blow things way out of proportion. Why cry over products that are slightly discounted and held in "limited quantities." Placing these advertisements later on is their prerogative.

No such thing as bad publicity?

What if some executive weirdo plans to spearhead a new campaign by having Bill Gates having sex with underaged donkeys while drinking urine from a empty skull of a dead horse while tweaking the nipples of senior citizen monkeys.

I think anything weirder than that would just scare people away from microsoft.
