The is one fundamental problem with all computer platforms be it PC, Mac, Linux, BSD , SGI, Sun, Playstation2 , Gamecube, $10 Radio Shack Calculator, toasters and pencils. This flaw can be summed up in only one word and it explains 80% of all computer related grievences.
Metropolis is a fantastic film and I am glad to hear that the english version is being revamped to be as close to Lang's original. With lost footage that Hollywood thought was to intellectual and made the movie to long for an american audience.
Hollywood tends to make the former mistake quite often. The original Star Trek pilot "The Cage" was rejected for that reason leading to the second pilot "Where No Man Has gone Before". Man, I would love to go threw Hollywood's extensive stack of rejected scripts. I'm willing to gamble that there is more diamonds in that stack than in South Africa.
Lang did have a vision about the perils of a industrial society and the film delivered his message with for the time brilliant cinemetography and visuals. When you watch the film you must remeber that this was six years before "King Kong". Audio wasn't very widespread and the color film of the time was crap. Yet the cityscape and factory sets where remarkable and very well done, and I think I don't need to mention the robot. Lang wasn't the only artist who put their effort into the film.
The Americanized version of Metropolis proudly has a place in my DVD collection and so does the Anime. When the revision is released I would love to compare the three.
Now let's see which is more sexy... Brittany or a Ukelelie playing lego robot...
Well they're both made of plastic and since Britany makes obnoxious noises from her mouth on her own, while a lego robot has to be programmed for it, I say go with the robot.
With the advances in digital moviemaking a Xanth film is not out of the question. Are there any plans to bring Xanth or any other of your novels to the silver screen in the near future?

Well since the only people capable of bringing the world wide web to its knees are l33t Ub3rh4x0rs, it will be with us for quite some time.
I thought longer exposure times, sky conditions and a stable camera were key in astrophotography. If I'm wrong please correct me, but mounting a camera on an f-18 dosen't sound like good practice.
When all the thrifty, but clueless soccer Moms think it's such a great deal. They buy a Lindows box for thier kids and spend the $100 savings on video games.
It is a good deal, however the Lindows name sounds to much like that "Other OS" and there is going to be a lot of confusion. I fear that Linux will be given a bad rep as cheap bargin software.
Is a quick and dirty app that can convert Office files to other formats with out loss of formating. As someone already stated in this thread Star Office is capable of doing this, so it's not like it can't be done.
Linux should come bundled with a nice kde/gnome widget that converts a.doc or group of into whatever is needed for the work enviroment with three mouse clicks. If an app performs like this,
pick.doc > pick new format > click convert , and performs reliably enough would it be an another incentive among many to switch from Windows?
Of course you'll have to be running linux to use that browser. Well in case you were not aware of it, you can configure mozilla to use Google expicitly in the side-bar. Just click preferences and in the configure menu look for search or something along those lines.
You can choose between DMOZ and quite a few other engines. The side bar isn't as nifty as the Toolbar. However since Galeon and Netscape are based off of Mozilla I'm sure that feature will make a debut on those browsers in the near future.
The premire of German Director Fritz Lang's mounumental Sci-Fi summer blockbuster! Be sure not to miss METROPOLIS. Opening in select theaters only, May 30, 1927.
If your flipping burgers they don't exactly go over your background with a fine tooth comb. Fixing pc's at CompUsa just tell them you did something else at your previous employers it's not that hard to land a crappy gig to hold you over, if your not to honest that is.
Sony isn't quite as blatantly evil as Microsoft, IMHO, but they are one of the major forces behind both the RIAA and the MPAA.
I agree with you. Sony has alot invested in their movies and record labels and would love to see fair use crushed like a cockroach under the boot of legislation.
However I have to admit that I support them in their endeavors to restrict my rights. When I make backups of all my games, burn Mp3's I always use Sony CD-R's. They're great and I swear by them, as a matter of fact I need to go buy some more.
For windows
Start>run>type MSConfig and you should be able to figure it out.
Also Start>Programs>startup and delete all the shortcuts.
There other ways but I can't remember off the top of my head.

If you have invented time travel and are ever around my area/time can I catch a lift?
We have to make sure George Lucas dosen't get anywhere near this revision. That guy can't even remake his own movies.

If linux had more games with guns and a decent spreadsheet, Microsoft's monopoly would be a moot point.
