from my long experience as tab-user i can give you follwing expert-tip:
stay with tabs of well known brands, i tried some noname-tabs, but my clothes didn't get clean and the colors faded as well.
I wonder if the effect of online-ads is really the problem, or maybe more the possibilities of measurement.
Imagine one could measure the effectiveness of newspaper-ads as well as the clickrate of online-ads. I'm sure this would drag the newspaper-ad-buisiness into a large crisis.
before:
1 Desktop-Computer, dial-in AOL, only on when I use it
after:
1 Desktop-Computer
1 Linux-Fileserver always on
1 Linux-Firewall always on
about 20 Computers in our House connected to this Network, rising
So I definetely have to pay more for Electricity.
stupid Linux, stupid
>There's probably enough of you unemployed CTO's out there - who've undoubtedly spent your idle days using Kazaa - to pull of this Ken Kesey-style prank.
There's enough of unemployed CTO's out there, that the slashdot-folks only would be 1% of all applicants.
Just wait some more years.
I'm quite sure that this will
change, when more Linux-Users get
old enough and in the Position
to make the Companie's IT-Decisions.
Wishful thinking? Maybe, because my
Future depends on this as well. But I
still think the chances aren't THAT bad,
that Company-IT-Strategies will change
in the not soo far Future.
>extraterrestrial life from Mars, Europa, and
>other points little known
I knew you Americans do know very little about
Europe. But at least you should know, that it's
located on Earth.

you name it.
people are as free as they want to be.
if they are not free, they are not, because they believe in the propaganda the big companies are spilling over them.
it works like a self-fullfilling prophecy.
somebody says "14 companies are controlling you".
in the moment you say "oh, how horrible!", he is right, but if you say "no, they aren't" then they aren't.
so, maybe the 100 richest families in the world
are controlling world economy, BUT they are NOT
controlling the people.
people have to understand that.

if this is the case, i guess, George W. Bush Jr. doesn't want to be called an engineer.
" Are you really an engineer? Or just a code-monkey?"
how about "artist"?

I like this book alot: The Linux Cookbook
It's fully available online. Not a step by step guide for newbies, but it's a good read, if you search for help on everyday-issues.
personally i won't be in any more trouble than before, because i use spamassassin.
but what comes more and more to my attention:
spam is traffic, traffic costs money. who pays for all this?
Are their servers going to be able to handle the load?
only if it's an x-fileserver.
so the question is:
what does "a pregnant gay man" like to watch?
Who is William Shattner?

All right!
Now we can extract the DNA and play Jurrasic-Park.
