This happened last year, he's only just been sentenced (by the british, not the americans). And this had nothing to do with the Patriot act.
The reason he chose Fermi Labs is that he mistakenly thought it was a academic facility and so would not pay bandwidth fees (unis etc in England don't pay for bandwidth)
I'm not condoning his actions, just trying to clear up some of the FUD
Have you tried buying a copy of Alladin?
I spent an age trying to find it for my gf, who's a real fan of the older Disney stuff. It's not been sold here in the UK for 3 years or so now.....
In the end I found a sealed copy that someone had bought and stored somewhere.
It's probably classified so I better pretend I'm ignorant of the details
Actually, it's not classified, and you ARE ignorant of the details.....
HALO jumps don't allow you to drift very far, it's the HAHO (high opening) jumps that allow you to get distances of around 30 miles, without a canopy you'd be lucky to get more than 2 or 3
Either that or people that don't like the idea of being followed 24-7 by a computer system, monitored by a random individual that can look up what the hell they want to about you.
I work for the government in Britain, and I accept that while I am in the building my movements will be monitored, but when I leave I can do pretty much what I want, without the worry of people watching me, making assumptions based on someone I walked past on the street.
At this rate the next stpe will be to accept this as evidence in a case, at which point you have to worry about people being falsely imprisoned due to their system saying "X has followed the same route as Y to every day at precisely 12:30 pm, therefore we have reason to imprison him under the homeland security act" Would it be my fault that I get the same bus to lunch every day as a terrorist??
It sounds pretty cool that they all have internet access, but it's not the be all and end all *prepares for down modding*
I mean, what about the other basics like food, healthcare, and the like? As long as the other things aren't sufering to pay for it it's fine, but I'm not sure where they are getting the money from....
I don't think they'd get anywhere though, as it is CE Linux, not Linux CE. And CE stands for consumer electronics, which is what their usage of linux is all about...
In short, I doubt even Microsoft would try and take them to court.
SCO on the other hand....
The same went with the original fuel cells, they may slow adoption down but they can't completely gloss over the fact that oil is getting more and more expensive.... Some companies are better than others, for example BP (British Petroleum) have realised this, and decided to hedge their chips and are putting money into fuel cell research.

Fair enough if they don't think it can be completely eliminated, but it would be nice if the article would mention a few tools like http://spamassassin.org
The subtle difference is you are dealing with *trained* people, that are alert. A rather different group of people to your average soldier driving a truck, while I admit that these trucks wouldn't end up being used by all the army, the drivers I doubt would be taking as much care, and definatly would not recieve any where near the same amount of training as a fighter pilot. When you are in a car and you suddenly need to break what is your instant reaction? In the Vast majority of people it is to slam your break foot down hard, and it would be extremly difficult to change this reaction, something that has been long ingraned into the subconcious from an early age. Will it start getting to the point where the army will need to follow the same principles as NASA with remote vehicles and specifically use people that HAVE NOT driven cars before, so that they don't have any of the condition reflexes that could spoil things?
But many of the things developed by Nasa could have been deemed a "waste of money" for just using in the shuttle, But technology has a habit of trickling down to the consumer market, and you never know, they *may* be able to create a less explosive fuel with similair enviromentaly friendly charicteristics
I agree, adding more tasks for your hands is a bad idea, but so is taking away the stearing from your hands. That would just encourage more lapses of concentration by eating, phoning people etc..
I think that a big propble with systems in the future that may add "collision" avoidance or other such features will encourage sloppy driving, and will actually encourage accidents.
I AM a bartender.
We use pourers that measure a predetermined amount, then stop with a click.
The plain pourers we just judge by eye or using a measure, NOT by time.
How about screwing over the scientologists and screwing over spammers at the same time?
When using fake lists of e-mails for spam bots, why not add scientology e-mail addresses. Those that have spam relayed through their servers, simply send it off to a scientology server..

This page is better, although still not brilliantly written. The Vajont Dam

Imagine an office full of people laughing as they move from computer to computer... Wouldn't that make you want to kill people?
