Is it too soon for another XboX? The PS2 has been around longer and it's still got maybe a year before the PS3 is out. There are still plenty of great games being released for each system. Is MS jumping the gun a little and pushing too hard just to be first to market with the next console?
- Dual AMD Opteron(TM) 200 series processors
- DUAL PCIe x16 with FULL SPEED x16 lanes
- (8) DIMMs for Reg'd DDR400 memory
- U320 SCSI and SATA-II with NVRAID(TM)
- Dual Gigabit Ethernet with ActiveArmor(TM)
- FireWire and USB 2.0 ports
Personally I will consider getting a PSP when they sell for $149 and the 1st release has been tested out. Also, the games would need to drop to at least $25. I'm sure this will happen sooner or later, right now I will let the "early adopters" empty their wallets and do all of the bug testing. I'm sure these will sell very well at Christmas.
France should just stick to what they are good at.....Surrender and accept the English language.
France has been trying to ban English words like E-Mail from entering into its language for years now. Maybe we can send them some tinfoil berets so that they won't be so paranoid.
We should also focus on Hydrogen Gas lines to residential areas. Imagine being able to heat your house with Hydrogen and use it in a fuel cell to provide electricity. You could even fill up your car at home. You could have a solar or a wind generator to covert rain water (through electrolysis) to Hydrogen. Or, instead of a compost heap you could have a "Hydrogen Pond" that uses bacteria to covert water to Hydrogen.
With an "SLI" motherboard, you get 2 PCIe graphics ports. This allows you to install 2 graphics cards that each have 2 DVI ports, allowing for 4 displays. While the 4 ports are not a direct use of "SLI" they are a side benefit.
One use for SLI is to power FOUR DVI LCD Displays!
SLI does offer a viable upgrade path. Buy one SLI capable card now and buy another one later when it drops in price to increase your performance without having to vastly change your system.
I think NVIDIA did a good job of providing video cards that support a range of new features such as SLI, SM 3.0, etc. Now the software makers have something to play with and incorporate over the next year or two.
I'm not enough of a KDE programmer to know what it would take to port this. I would really like to see something like this in a standard linux distribution along side other great programs like mozilla, open office, GIMP. ETC. (or Koffice, Konqueror, etc.)
A video card that will easily play Doom3 and HL2 and cost around $200. Of course this card has been out for awhile...but few people have a PCI-e board (Now it's a viable AGP upgrade).
Also worth noting is that the 6600 offers full support for Shader Model 3.0 and DirectX 9.0C, ATI does not currently offer support for this yet.
Right now most gamers are buying the NVIDIA 6800 series video cards. The performance between the top end ATI and NVIDIA cards are close on DirectX 9 games. However, the 6800 series offers support for DirectX 9.0C and Shader Model 3.0, while ATI does not. The NVIDIA drivers offer better support for OpenGL (Doom3) and for Linux. And if you are rich and want the fastest on the planet you can use "SLI" to run dual 6800's
Not to mention a lot of the 6800 cards come with the game Far Cry which is one of the best games released in the last year or so.
AOL bought Netscape and we got Mozilla.
AOL bought Nullsoft and we got Gnutella.
AOL Shuts down Nullsoft.....will we get another nice present? Will WinAmp become Winampella (or something with a better name)?
Unreal Tournament 2004 came out with a patch so that you do not need to even have the CD in the drive to run the game.
So instead of limiting the use of thier product, they listen to their customers and make the product better. (not too mention their support of mods is the best in the industry).
If it is standard for BOTH companies to provide review sites with samples and pre-release cards, I don't really see a problem. If THG can't get thier stuff together in time to to a review, why would I want to visit thier site.
They must not be very familiar with the PC enthusiast community. We love reading news about beta, pre-release, rumor, alpha, next-gen, etc. products. This is how we plan ahead. Sure, we will also read about the product once it's fully release and tested. Until then, we want to hear as much "pre" information as possible.
THG sounds more like they are complaining that they did not have enough time to do a review...well the following sites did:

Lately, I have been just plain lazy and missed some of the good movies at the theater (like Spider-man 2). And I'm too lazy to return a rental. So on that rare occasion that I do get motivated I buy what I want to see on DVD. If I get to the store the week the movie comes out I can pick it up for about $15. And if I don't like the movie I can sell it at work for around $12
I also hate to miss any part of a movie, so the pause button works a lot better at home, compared to the theater.

If you are running Windows Media Center 2005 you can already connect your Xbox to it and use it as a satellite media center\hub. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/eva luation/devices/xboxextenderkit.mspx

Think outside the box

I really don't think that Nintendo has much of a chance to create a next-gen console that will compete with the PS3 or XboX2.
It's time for Nintendo to follow Sega and release cross platform games and get out of the hardware business.
Zelda, Metroid, Mario, etc. will have a good home on the PC, XboX & PS2. Nintondo needs to focus on what it's good at.....Games.
I am currently running Folding@Home. As soon as I finish with that research, I will move my 20Ghz to the next medical research project.
**They also have a Linux client.
Please use the Bittorrent link.

Estimated time left: 54 hour 10 min 30 sec =
Playstation 3, Nforce4, Nforce5, SLI, Geforce 6xxx I want stock.
Microsoft acquires license to print money.
It's $550 and it's not out yet.
This was a similar problem with ATI's flagship 800XT Platinum Edition. Yes, it is the top of the line ATI card.....No, you can't find one.
*Also PCI Express only
It is worth noting that NVIDIA will be bringing SLI to the Intel platform according to this press release:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_17070.html
I'm looking forward to a P4 NForce board.

Actually a 9800pro runs about $200 which is about what the 6600 costs. And the 9800 was not keeping up with the 6600.

They should just license the characters from Marvel and then sell an Expansion pack with all of the Marvel characters included.

I wonder if anyone has the ATI coupon for HL2 but no longer have the ATI vid card?
