Retail stores will often advertise their price without discounting it any
It's all abouy psychology...I will now relay an actual event I witnessed when working at a walmart shoe department many eons ago:
(lady standing in a long layaway line) "Young man, how much are these boots over here? (she points to some boots on sale).
(me) "They appear to be $18.00".
(lady) "Are they good boots?"
(me) "Good for the price."
(lady) "How much were they originally?"
(me) "ummm, let me look, ummmm $19.88"
(lady) "Well thats not a very good deal!"
(a second lady chimes in) "Nawww, those were $26.99 last week I know cuz I got my husband some."
(lady) "Oh! Well in that case I'll get a pair."
Conclusions are left as an excercise for the reader.
Reminds me of an episode of STTNG where a "time travel historian" has come to visit the enterprise (and steal technology). He tries to kidnap Commander Data by trapping him in his time machine, and Data says to him, "I assume your palm print will open the door whether or not you are conscious."
I've owned *quite a few* CD burners in my life (6+), and the one thing I've found to be true is you are always screwing yourself if you buy the cheapie model. What good is a CD Burner if it chunks 20% of your discs?
I decided I woudln't buy a DVD writer until plextor came out with a dual format burner (I've never had one of their CD writers mess up a single CD -- ever), and low and behold they did.
New designs? I'd like to point out that the Archos Jukebox did what the IPOD does 2 years before the IPOD. Granted the Archos is not as cool as the Archos, but the IPOD is only a refinement of the (crude) Archos.
I used to know a homeless guy who was schizophrenic who told me about the "bad men" who captured him and gave him pills that made the voice of jesus go away. He also believed the Germans were manufacturing Italians in the next county over.
What if jesus was a highly functioning schizophrenic?:)
First franchise not to let fans down? I've got news for you. It's just a movie, its pretty darn good, but its not amazing, it's not a life changing event. You wanna see great film making go rent a copy of "The Man Who Would Be King" or one of the other thousands of classic movies out there you don't even know about.
You're on the money. I'd like to repeat my Steinberg LM4 Story:) I bought a legit copy of Steinberg LM4 but it wouldn't install on Win2k even though Win2k is a SUPPORTED PLATFORM for Cubase (the host application for LM4). The copy protection on LM4 wouldn't allow installation on Win2k for some reason, and Steinbergs answer to this was "go fuck yourself." So I ended up downloading a warezed version of LM4. I'll never buy another Steinberg product:)
Fair enough:) Just thought I'd provide a little perspective, but I ugess youve already got it:) The older CD-R's sure were terrible weren't they? I had a shuttle brand that messed up every other disc then an HP which messed up 1 out of every 5, a Panasonic that messed up one out of every 25, and finally a plextor which is never in two years fucked up a single disc.
hehehe you're worried about 1.79? Lemme tell you when CD-Rs first came out they cost around 25$ a piece and the CD Burners were *very* unreliable (atleast mine was). I remember my buddy and I got some Maxell CD-Rs for about 6$ a piece from one of those rebate sales at Staples, we burned all our MOD files and thought we'd practically robbed a bank:)
You are dead on the money here. People who *really* know whats going on are very rare. That being said, even us developers who know what we're doing are still having trouble finding jobs:)
I'm curious what your test is like? Programming is *SUCH* a large field its pretty difficult to have any common body of knowledge.
And this paragraph right here somes up the attitude of the rest of your post, or namely, why you wouldn't be hired.
Ah, let me tell you about a pet peeve of mine. Someone who thinks they can tell everything there is to know about someone else on the strength of a one paragraph post. Of course I blew the interview with that answer, I did it on purpose, guess why? You can tell alot about a company by the interviews they give, and I didn't want to work for this company based on the questions they asked, so I decided to have fun with it:) So maybe neither the HR guy nor myself are idiots...
Ok, I'll take the bait. Did bush cause the recession? No, stupid investors (dot com bubble) and stupid religious folks (9/11) did. Did bushes supply side economics do anything to help the economy? NO. The economy is recovering INSPITE of Bush's economic policy, not because of it.
That actually happened to me... I interviewed at a job taking reservations for the Hilton hotel (I have a CS degree, but there are no CS jobs at the moment, tried to make the best of a bad situation). Scored WAY too high on the tests and got bounced.

What are these gift front ends of which you speak? I've been looking for a linux-kazaa client for quite some time. (thanks)
You dont have a 62" HDTV. VCD's are unwatchable and artifacts are visible on even well encoded (original) DVDs.

heh you're off your rocker son :) The IPOD is an mp3 player, the Archos is an MP3 player, your symantec games have no effect on me :)
What the hell are you talking about? Until recently ITunes was just a file manager and Music Match does the same damn thing ...

Do you have any documentation for this? I've never heard of that before, if its true that sure sounds like a smoking gun to me.
I agree with everything you've said ... I'd also like to add, its not like a paranoid schizophrenic has never started a religion before :)
The stock value of this company is down to something like 40 cents from the $14+ range and is going to be delisted. The market has ALREADY voted.
What if jesus was a highly functioning schizophrenic? :)
Yea thats right, mod me down as a troll for being the voice of reason and suggesting that LOTR might not be the best thing ever.

(And as a Walmart Employee) Walmart has to be stoped.
I think you're talking about Teledildonics? ;-)

Would someone please explain what UserlInux might BE, and why I should care?
I thought it was implied ... actually, I think we're both taking things too seriously here :) good day! :)
