Heh, I had pretty much the same experience. I can still remember the thrill of getting my 1050 disk drive and delving into the world of a Disk Operating System. That and wrting programs that used atari paddle controllers to control various graphical and audio parameters.
Well, I would've buried the conduit with the rope in it to begin with, then every time I pull a cable, pull a replacement rope with it, but that's just me. If there's a buck to made doing something the hard way, who am I to criticize?
And your point, I guess, is that if some potentially addictive things are for sale, then all potentially addictive things should be for sale.
Firstly, you're a pompous fuck. That said, no, that wasn't the point. The point was that labeling things "harmful and addictive" is not sufficient to proscribe their trade. There may be other good reasons for drug prohibition, such as the social cost. If you'd like to argue these other points I'd be happy to do so, only show some balls and use your account.
That said, I still wouldn't want to be in the city during a 7+ Richter event. I'd much rather be in Oakland or Berkeley. The ground under SF is full of water. Buildings fall down in Mexico City because of this when there's an earthquake epicentered in the Pacific ocean. Old and shoddily built buildings, to be sure, but there are plenty of those in SF, too. Then you have the risk of fire and the near constant offshore wind. Hope it never happens...
Well, if you save everything, you'll earn some interest, so your savings will exceed your earned income. Of course, you have to eat out of dumpsters to do this.
I don't know about that. If you have to check your gauges, you're already distracted, and not looking at the road. If you have a button on the handlebars that lets you turn the hud on and off, you'd no longer have to look away from the road while riding to check your speed or fuel level, and you can shut it off once you've gotten the information you need.
In any case, what's the point of mounting a display on a motorcylce when, as you stated, we already have gauges and are used to them?
What about the TV tuner card? Those aren't free. You'll also probably want at least 80GB of storage. And you need a decent looking case, since this thing needs to be within line of site of your remote (unless you get a card that uses a uhf remote, if there are such things). So, mobo, case, tv card, 256MB ram, celery, network card, power supply, and 80GB drive for $200? Hook me up!
Different metrics, friend. Five years to build marketshare for a grassroots product that competes with one of the largest companies in the world is not very long.
And yes, I do have superhuman stamina, as your mom can readily attest to when she regains the ability to speak.
There's a terrific justification: they generate revenue. Encouraging a broad cross-section of the community to use public library services exposes the needs of the library to more people, who then are more apt to give, as well as use the libraries other academic services. In addition, the overdue fees on videos and cds are generally much more than the dime a day pittance accorded to books. Money in the bank, baby.

Most of the people editing the audio and video you're encoding on your x86 are using macs. Well, maybe not most, but a hell of a lot of 'em.
Special machines? Wouldn't a simple piece of rope or greased wire do?

Try BSD.
I think most people would agree that a heavily addictive drug like alcohol is doing its users harm.
I think most people would agree that a heavily addictive food like sugar is doing its users harm.
I think most people would agree that a heavily addictive technology like television is doing its users harm.
Who did person A harm?
w00t! Analog v. digital flamewar!

Ah, a ray of light in an otherwise dark domain...
Be my guest. The rest of us would love to see you do it.
Yes.
EOM

But seriously, that is a disturbing and frightening document.
Why then we just realign our deflector dish. Into that Jeffrie's Tube, ensign!
Iran would be twice as big?
Preempted.

About five years, give or take. I hope for your woman's sake you aren't in such a rush in the sack.
Oh, wait... sorry, I'm an insensitive clod.
Yeah, the desire to pull a huge asshole (Bush) apart.
